APCR IRL: lmao angle? yeah right, I'm APFSDS of the past, I don't care APCR in WT: *shatters in barrel at the thought of hitting slightly angled armor*
APCR angled performance in theory shouldn’t be great, it’s made of tungsten carbide which automatically will make its angled performance not great, and the cores typically are not the heaviest and because of this, deflect upwards into the plate… That was a terrible explanation, my apologies, let me try again, using tungsten alloy projectiles as an example (used in later APDS and APFSDS) Alright, so, when a tungsten alloy projectile impacts an angled plate, first, it will begin to deflect to the same angle of the plate, really the route of least resistance… However , if the plate is thin enough, when the round gets close to perforation, it will do something interesting, it will begin to experience more resistance if it were to keep deflecting upwards, and less resistance if it were to perforate the plate. You can think of this like a sort of pushing effect, when the round gets to this point, the resistance from continuing upwards is much greater than if it were to basically normalise and start going opposite of the plate angle, and perforate the rear of the plate. Now keep in mind, if the plate it was hitting was- let’s say infinitely thick, this effect would not happen and the round would keep deflecting upwards. Now, because tungsten alloy mushrooms, this effect is exacerbated, and hence, that’s why tungsten alloy is so good at penetrating angled plates. Tungsten carbide follows a similar initial path, but, because it keeps its shape, it doesn’t blunt like tungsten alloy, and as such, can more smoothly glide though the armour, sure this means it can penetrate lots of steel; but, when it comes to an angled plate it doesn’t experience nowhere near as much resistance as tungsten alloy and instead will mostly keep deflecting upwards until the very end; hence why the angled penetration of tungsten carbide is quite poor… Now, this effect is why APFSDS is so good at penetrating angles, and also, keep this in mind, no matter the projectile, it will always always deflect upwards if the plate it is hitting is too thick for it to get close to perforating. Normalisation occurs because of this effect of a shell getting close to perforation alone.
APCR was kinda bad at angles, the core breaks apart easily. But it shouldn't be THIS bad, and it should also y'know... do damage. A shattered tungsten core entering a tank is going to do more than just slightly injure one guy.
@@Creepus_Explodus it does, but the main reason for it suffering with angles is the reason I mentioned prior A shattered core will still retain its kinetic energy in armour, and keep penetrating Its when it perforates a plate, and then has to hit another that it falls apart since now it’s a cloud of dust that has spread out, so it will obviously be rubbish at penetrating spaced armour As for doing damage, absolutely, gaijin REALLY needs to fix this…

love to come home from work to a new video from the dawg
Spookston should play a vehicle that is feared by every single wt player for Halloween
APCR advice- don't shoot centre mass on wider tanks. The amount of spall is abysmal
i'm loving the new sound effects
Whenever spookston does the whole “oooo ooo ooo” I can’t help but think of monkeys
frensh 1.0 tank :" at least we got.... stabiliser and -20 of depression"
“This game is going to make me wind up in a asylum”
-Spookston
We only keep getting 6 or 7 kills. We want to get a double ace! Classic spookston
Spookston IS-3 is still here he still wants a video
Spookston should play the 8.0 Italian OF-40 :) trust
I still remember grinding my JPZ 4-5 from zero to hero back when ive played WT.
1. After i was done, i skipped m48, because its starting round was APCR.
2. Glad i dont play WT anymore, so i wont have to deal with APCR or anything similar ever again.
THANK YOU SPOOKS 23 videos salino you for APCR were more that enough
Dude, Do a "Can't touch the ground/The floor is Lava where you can only use helicopters and planes the whole game. I love your videos!
1:58 That moment a long 76mm armor piercing shell deflects off of literal aluminum foil
the last 2 months you can audibly track spookston losing his sanity
Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should 😆
Still asking for a Sturmtiger pretending to be a bush.
spookston always manages to make the worst things good
Spookston you might underestimate APHV but it is so hilarious when you're using the Panthers gun and you use it against a M4A3E2 jumbo and go right through their mantle it you see them slowly panic is a realized they can be pinned frontly
Ive had amazing luck with All apcr rounds
11:17 - 11:19: ooh, hmm
amazing commentary
I feel like if the round directly hits a crew member, it should kill him.
You know, there was a time when APCR was OP in WT, and so Gaijin just took and obliterated it. Since then APCR hasn't been touched.
There was also a time when HEAT-FS was this magic OP shell, the best in the world, close to it's IRL performance, and then it was, again, nerfed; and then the same thing with APDS. Now we wait for APFSDS and APHE to be nerfed, and this game will finally transform into WOT
