Most likely hoping that viewers will love her content. Which they *do*. Here’s me: Chained to my computer all day; attending to my daily grind of unhappy people, paperwork and frustration. Thank you Kris for letting me follow along. I can’t tell you how much I look forward to your adventures and dream of living a similar life. You rock
Hello Kris, I have now watched all of your latest videos backwards from when I first discovered you and Andrew and all of your oldest videos in the correct order, the culmination point, being this video. As a spider watcher, frequently called to them by the females siren song, I have born witness to many a seductive entrapment, followed by horrific killing. The spider you have here, I have named Oogle Leg. I have only seen a White Widow able to stand her ground in combat with the dreaded Oogle Leg, who, in our house preys on every other type of spider that happens to venture in and unfortunate members of our existing house spider population. Love your nature footage, totally fascinating. Thank you.❤
Hey Kris, talking second-hand bookshops: have you ever been to "Book Mongers" in Brixton? In my opinion the best characteristic second-hand bookshop of London, with the most gorgeous old cat "Popeye" chilling in the shop. A must go!
I loved going to the garden to pick veggies then shucking peas and snapping beans at my grandparents farm every summer, it was my job while Nan was getting supper ready. My Nan used to sneak little cucumbers for my lunch as grandad had a grocery store and wanted them all to grow big for the shop. Simple summer pleasures, riding the tire swing way out over a drop off so it was like flying, swimming in the dam, catching little trout in the stream that ran under the milk kitchen. Jumping off the haymow hanging off a rope to the big pile of hay a story below. Rooting through the hay bales looking for kittens hidden by the mama barn cats while they went to work catching mice. The smells of the garden, berry patches, picking hazelnuts from the back of the big farm truck, having bounced like crazy on the little bumpy fire break road to get there. Picking mushroom in the pasture after days of rain, peeling them and frying in butter to make sandwiches on Nans home made bread. Fresh eggs for breakfast with really orange yolks, finding baby chicks the chickens snuck off to hatch . Taking the leftovers to the pigs and watching the little ones with their springy tails and curious noses. Taking the cover off the well and watching the trout swim round and round , his job was catching bugs and keeping the water clear. I could go on and on but the farm is gone, sold to a winery where they now make use of the blueberry fields up the hill from the farmhouse in some of their wine. Summer is so different now but we live a couple of houses from the beach so I get to enjoy watching the grandkids catch crabs, swim, paddle board and bask in the sun while I slow stitch and listen to audiobooks in one ear so I can hear them if they yell. 🥰 Lovely moods in your video, as you can see I’m pining for summer. 🙋🏼♀️
Loved the trek into London, the oil paint experimentation, and the spider/wildlife documentary. Very impressed that your kitty did not park herself on your palette; mine is always desperate to.
Wow what a treat. I could watch your stuff for hours and I pine badly waiting for the next. When it arrives all is cleansed in the first few frames and total immersion sets in.
Love the filming, love the shots, love the editing, the normal moments that are the interest, the shopping moments when you can only eat like you used to eat when it's on offer. Observational narrowboat life happening whilst being yourselves instead of people trying to make you tube content. The Merch - I'd like a hoodie with a pylon in the grass with Kris Atomic & a picture of you both in black and white, smiling and looking kinda cheesy & another one with you both hauling a shopping trolley out of the canal on a massive magnet saying - no trolley left behind....Kris atomic productions in yellow somewhere. I bagsy my great idea. It'll be brilliant! Lastly, evolve, don't change.
If you mix ‘siccative’ with oil paint it will dry the same day. It does make the paint slightly matt in appearance but this can be solved with a spray varnish for a slightly glossier look (also will dry quickly)
I think you are “too artistic” for most narrowboat gongoozzlers (sp?) Not the usual content! I love the content and not just because you like my favorite things - painting, books and good food.
Another pair of OGs here. Great video and very therapeutic as I (Chris) pulled a muscle in my back earlier, so watching this video has made everything right again! Also, we're glad to see the ants didn't sink your boat..."I'm a Kris Atomic OG 🤘" Chris & Pamela 😄
You have become our favourite channel. Love the filming and story lines. We have caught up with the canal story and can’t wait for the next instalments. Thank you. Steve & Kate
Those very happy party animals made me crack up laughing! Quite unexpected but hilarious. I would also be 'OMG' doing a tunnel, which is why I haven't done one yet... or a lock! Having to do my first lock in May at Calcutt, if you hear a woman crying in the distance that'll be me! x
Can't even explain how much I love the pea content. Fresh (raw) peas from the pod are my all-time favourite food, I spend the short time they're in season every year scouring supermarkets for them and eating them by the handful. Minus points for the spider content. BUT still a great vlog.
Willow contains salicins (salicylic acid)... natures asprin. Also cattle were fed new growth coppice and pollarding for a long time historically. Have a great week. ✌️
Oh my goodness what an unexpected blast from the past! I worked at London Graphics Centre in CG when I was 20 - I’m 57 now and I live in a farmhouse at the end of a Welsh peninsula!
Hey guys! I’m so happy! Finally…well what can I say, that moon! Those swans, the light, the wind, that misty morning!!! Kris if you are looking for inspiration for your new oil painting adventure, look no further. Those pictures of the misty morning….everything. Loved this. Andrew are you growing a beard? Thank you for taking us along. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Be well. Hi to Matilda 🦢
I love your little spider segment. I feel much the same way when I inadvertently touch a hairy huntsman spider. I mean, they have the right but I don’t want to have to touch them.
I had to laugh at one of the comments. I enjoy your approach to your channel and the fact you’re refreshing. Your trip to London brought back memories of my first trip to NYC by myself. Thanks for the memories
Thank you ❤️. Spiders are definitely part of boat life, but we haven’t had any that were super scary inside, they’re mostly quite small or weedy looking ones which I find ok. You do get some more gnarly ones that hide in the ropes outside occasionally 😅
Thankyou so much for your Amazing videos and for introducing us to the FOLLY!. We are there now on our boat and it really is the best bloody pub in the known universe xxx. Love Dave and Rach NB HOLLY X
Did Dexter the spider stay or is he using Lands End as a stepping stone for an exhibit at the Tate ? Beautiful images and of course the chats between yourself and Andrew. Loved Matilda and the Roomba . The night images were gorgeous. Absolutely loved the reaction you received from the hire boat party people 🎉🥳🎈 Kris the swan whisperer 🦢. Great deals on the wonderful food. BTW I am also confused by the plastic cups and dissolving paper straws 🤔 Good work on doing the winding hole solo. So much more, and once again, all pure gold for the eyes and soul. Can’t wait for the horror of the Braunston Tunnel 😱 I couldn’t do it. Have a good week. From a OG ☺️ 🤗😊 Kathy
Dexter used his art installation in his portfolio and moved out (on to bigger things probably) haha. The tunnel was WILD, I honestly had no idea what it would be like. Looking forward to re-living it while I edit 😅 You're definitely on the list for OG merch!! Thanks so much as always Kathy ❤️
Yes! Such a midweek treat! Thank you. 🤩 Btw: I’ve just been to London and finally visited Little Venice. It was so cool to see the narrowboats! It made me think of you guys. x
Gotta love a bargain, tho you could still cook it cheaper 😉 Probably not practical unless moored in a town but perhaps have a look at retailer food waste websites like Too Good To Go?
We’ve done TGTG a lot! Can be really good, especially when you get a bunch of groceries. Sometimes it’s just a bag of pastries or doughnuts which is not so good 😂
I love the videos you two release. So much so that I feel compelled comment - LOL: I listened to a podcast the other day where the guest, a UK broadcaster of some sort with a new book out, pointed out that comments on a social media platform are mainly monologues passing one another. LOL - seems apt, though. Anyway - commentary on this episode: Wes Anderson - reminded me of Wes Anderson movies. Good days ahead for all!
I do so Love watching your channel, I find it the most therapeutic of all the channels I have watched and your voice is like butter on Hot Toast ( Gawjus 😉)…seriously though you do have a very soothing voice and personality to match. Shelling Peas is definitely something I remember with fondness from my childhood as well, the Village I grew up in used to have a Communal Pea Field and so when I was little, myself, my Mum and Nana would go to get a Dustbin Bag full of Peas ( couple of bags actually…but sshhh 😁 ) and then it would be back to Nana’s and my sister would join us in Shelling all the Peas ( my Nana’s Pea and Ham Soup was scrumptious ( she always used a couple of Ham Bones in the Pot which just increased the flavour ) the Saucepan ( looked more like a huge cauldron to a 5-6 year old ) would be bubbling away on the back of the Rayburn for what seemed a few days and there would be the smell of the freshly baking bread in the background !. It was a thick Soup with Hunks ( proper homemade ham ) and more like a meal itself. I was lucky growing up in a small village where everything came locally from Farm to plate ( not so much lucky for Daisy the Cow ) or the Pigs or Sheep but it was just the Norm 🤷♂️ and Yes as kids we played with the Lambs and Piglets,my Grandfather was actually someone who performed the Hammer blow if you know what I mean!. The Village is pretty old and WAS old fashioned but nowadays it’s changed ( not for the better unfortunately),it’s gone modernised and it has certainly lost its Charm and picturesqueness 🤷♂️. Used to be quite a few Thatched Cottages but lots of them have gone, still a few but nothing like it was and it has lost its Friendliness and community spirit….. when I was growing up everyone knew everyone and looked out for each other but it has gone the way of people becoming Selfish. Didn’t help it losing its biggest Employer Spicers and the Leather Factory and Works Eastern Counties plus the Chamois factory ( ahhh the smells…not so nice but somehow they were ok 🤷♂️ ). There are some Lovely Villages dotted around ( Cambridgeshire ) and the village was Sawston near Duxford, not far from Cambridge and it’s definitely a area where it’s worth exploring,Hinxton Mill is still a very picturesque place ( otters there ). Not Far Away you have Granchester and there you have the Famous Tea Rooms and of course ' Byrons Pool ' ( guess who ?!! ) and if you venture into the Village have a walk down by the River ( used to be a pub called the Volunteer ) and there is a Path that takes you down the Hill to the River ( watch out for the Cows ) they are over friendly. I would definitely recommend a Trip for yourselves on the River Camb on the Punts past the Universities,so much to explore in Cambridge. Give Madingley War Memorial ( American Cemetery ) a visit ( you can take the open top tour bus there ) and it is an extremely beautiful and moving experience there ….. As you walk in the entrance get ready to be mind blown by the Vista that unfolds before your Eyes ! Whoever designed it should be proud of the effect on a person the View gives you,it really hits home of the sacrifices but it is a beautiful place at the same moment in time. Love the Videos ❤❤
Thanks so much for this lovely comment! Your childhood sounds so wonderful, what beautiful memories. I don’t know that part of the uk at all, a visit is definitely in order at some point!
@@krisatomic Love your channel and the work you do,there is more artistry in your content than you realise, you have a natural talent that deserves to be praised and respected. Cambridgeshire is a large County with many hidden Gems ( lots of Artists have derived inspiration from the Countryside there…. Plenty of old Water Mills and Rural England). Visit a place called Newnham ( part of Cambridge ( the royal botanical gardens are nearby ) but it’s the walk from the Gardens to Newnham along the pathway with Cows by your side ( common farm grounds in the middle of a City !!! ) and as you walk to the River over the Large Iron Bridge you will see the River in all its beautiful glorious views with people walking everywhere,on punts, having picnics etc. There is an Old Paddling Pool area which in Summer is Heaving with children playing in the water ( I’m in my late 50’s and went there when I was a child 😳). There aren’t enough Words to describe the memories I have of my Childhood. To say I had a Great childhood would be a understatement,we weren’t Well off and my Mum and Dad both worked hard but they made sure I was well loved and well cared for but also taught the important lessons of life…. Being kind and respectful to everyone and anything ( including nature ). I was one of those lucky children who spent most of my childhood exploring and being outside, come rain or shine,My Parents were amazing people and parents and my Dad was the best Dad ever,if I can be half the Dad he was then I’m doing him proud. I have 4 Adult Sons and 2 of them are Autistic, unfortunately their Mum ( my Ex ) abandoned them in 2010,so I am their Sole Carer. I honestly would Love to meet yourself and your partner if you ever are in Cambridge ( I don’t live in Cambridge myself anymore) as had to move to Bedford when I started caring for my children and I could talk to you about some of the memories of my youth. I would Love to know more about you and your partner as well,he seems like a very likeable Character. You work extremely well as a couple and I think it would be a pleasure to meet the pair of you. ❤️❤️
I went through braunston tunnel on my second cruise, didn’t know it was going to be so cold or long. I recently went through Birmingham, was amazing mooring in the city centre.
Love the camera work 😍 you even make London look great 👍. You're a lovely couple have great vibes 💕 doesn't everyone love yellow sticker I'll 💛 or as me and my partner say compost corner 😂. Your vlogs make my day thanks from Yorkshire 🎉
Keep that spider around ..you won't have trouble with any other spiders in there ...they feed mainly on other spiders an can kill the biggest of housespiders I've been really impressed ..I really dislike spiders but them ones I have to say will take out any large or small spiders😊
Your London segment was amazing. I have been to London twice, and there is never enough time there to enjoy all the small shops and wonderful exhibits. I’ve not been into a bookshop there(sad). Can you share some of your favorite book finds? Love your take on canal travel, so much beauty and creativity. Well done to you.
I love these videos so much. I'm also with you on the Japanese stationery, although I prefer Stalogy notebooks to Midori, if you haven't given them a try before. They're lovely with fountain pens ❤
You get me!! I’m near the end of a Stalogy 365 that I’m using as my main journal, really love it. I wish they’d do a lined 365, that would be perfect, the grid isn’t my favourite. But otherwise I love!
@@krisatomic ahh I love a grid! I'm in a stalogy for my reading notes and a leuchtturm1917 for my journal, which are fairly unbeatable! The midori a5 cover fits on a stalogy too - a recent useful discovery as I'm great at spilling things everywhere!
@@nicolalol91 great combo! I’m stalogy for journal, midori day to page a6 for daily planner, leuchtturm1917 for morning pages. I just got an April hobonichi cousin for daily drawings and I’ve got a Midori kind of blank grid layout one as a book log. God that sounds like a lot. Each one is absolutely crucial and I won’t hear otherwise hahah. Great tip on the cover, thanks!
I think the sign post at Rugby is a regular thing as I fished one out of the canal a couple of years ago,it's now a feature in my front garden.Passers by are amused by the no mooring beyond this point , no fishing and no dog fouling. Another slick vlog .Would it be rude to ask what your jobs are ?
The poor post 😂. This one is still there many months on (on the ground, horizontal). I’m surprised no one’s chucked it in the water yet. Not at all! We’re both self employed. I’m a freelance photographer and illustrator, Andrew runs his own web-based software company.
The movement to ban plastic straws got momentum because a lot of them end up in the ocean where they kill marine animals, including some of the cute ones, that mistake them for food. Bans on single-use plastic cups are coming soon.
Totally respect the movement, but it probably would have made more sense to ban the lot in one go. In terms of single use rubbish I see everywhere and especially in and around the canals, it’s plastic drinks bottles that feature most frequently by far :(
That spider is a cellar spider……. I love them because they eat other spiders. They aren’t native they come from the equator, so that answers your daddy long legs question (crane fly)
It’s different in the uk! A daddy long legs is a type of crane fly here, and I don’t think we have the daddy long legs spider, or it’s not native at least.

If you mix ‘siccative’ with oil paint it will dry the same day. It does make the paint slightly matt in appearance but this can be solved with a spray varnish for a slightly glossier look (also will dry quickly)

Tell me more about Birmingham moorings, we're interested in what it's like over there!
Love the camera work 😍 you even make London look great 👍.
You're a lovely couple have great vibes 💕 doesn't everyone love yellow sticker I'll 💛 or as me and my partner say compost corner 😂.
Your vlogs make my day thanks from Yorkshire 🎉
That’s lovely to hear, thank you! 💖
Thanks so much, that’s really nice to hear! Will try to film some more book stuff for sure!
Another great video ! Are you going to Crick ?
Nicely cut scenes.
Thank you! ❤️
@@krisatomic sounds like a great system to me!
In terms of single use rubbish I see everywhere and especially in and around the canals, it’s plastic drinks bottles that feature most frequently by far :(
@@krisatomic Circulate a photo of an adorable dolphin with a bottle stuck in its blowhole and we can get some action on this issue.
Are we getting a new vlog today/soon? I’m on the Macclesfield canal and could do with more inspiration!
New vlog later this week ☺️
💜💙💚
💯
🥰🥰🥰
That spider is a cellar spider……. I love them because they eat other spiders.
They aren’t native they come from the equator, so that answers your daddy long legs question (crane fly)
Ah cool, thanks for IDing our leggy friend! I’ll look out for those again this summer 😎
What you call daddy long legs is a crane fly. The spider is actually the daddy long legs.
It’s different in the uk! A daddy long legs is a type of crane fly here, and I don’t think we have the daddy long legs spider, or it’s not native at least.
Xx
.mmmmgood tree...
She looks stuck. Maybe thats what she can reach?
I worried they’d get stuck too, but they were surprisingly agile in getting in and out 😂 they also did it at the same time every day, like a routine
But farms don't lay eggs. 😅
The farm chickens 😂
I am a photographer and a gongoozler….what have I found?
Why don’t you get a magnet on a string for when you drop things in canal 🥱
