15:14 Rocket was the one that was bullying Ceasar in the first one. In the second film Rockets son gets shot by a human but survives only to later be killed by Koba after he refused to kill a human.
Oh shit I forgot Ash was his son. Poor Rocket had to go through the loss of a child too... no wonder he was so faithful to Caesar, he would not associate with the killer of his son
Okay Don, lore time. The reason Caeser is so smart is he got basically two rounds, the initial 112 that was safe for humans but the immune system eventually inactivated it causing them to seek a more aggressive virus to go to work, and then the 113. But ALSO he was the only ape to grow up smart and be raised by humans who appreciated that he was smart, so he was able to learn a lot more than all the others who had to learn on the fly. The 113 is more powerful, which is why all the apes that get the virus get smarter, but its not a dose dependent thing, its a virus. Even a little will replicate to the same amount. And because it became a global pandemic passing from human to human, it stands to reason all the apes on earth eventually get exposed. That means not just from zoos but the wild apes of Africa too, though they don't have Caesar organizing and planning for them which is why the San Francisco colony is advancing so rapidly. Once you know what you should be teaching eachother it gets easier but having Caesars knowledge and experience is a big advantage. Just wanted to clear that up that it doesn't matter how much of the gas they inhaled.
@@zariifc no it really doesn't. The gas is just a carrier for a virus. That virus either successfully infects and replicates inside the body to alter the apes brain or it doesn't, getting extra doesn't make you more infected. Just like if you get a common cold from someone, being around them more once you already have it doesn't make you more sick. Anyway nowhere in the series does it say that more gas has more of an effect.
This movie broke me, i absolutely adored Caesar and couldnt handle his death, i bawled like a big baby at the end. All this movie was mostly depressing, losing blue eyes & Cornelia at the start, loved them too. Cornelia was the young girl ape at the primate "sanctuary" in rise. Also, Blue eyes was so special having blue eyes instead and being named after Caesar's mother Bright eyes. So glad seeing you compassionate about the apes and Caesar's family. Rocket is from 1st film too, remember he's the old alpha who bullied Caesar when he first met apes in the sanctuary. Notice how the little girl cried for Luka but not her own father's death. Hate that the human who kills Caesar is the one he spared. Caesar was never like Koba, he never blamed all humanity & was able to escape his hate in the end. Like i said before, Caesar as a leader put many human leaders of today to shame.
yea i suspected that because she cried when Luca died but she wasn't acting too emotional when that dude died which made me think they are not even that close
Bro I grew up watching these films, I had the first one on repeat as a kid, watched the second one quite a lot then I watched this in cinemas when it released, I left in tears 😭
Same 😢😭 I always watched the first one on repeat and the second one on repeat too but when this one came out, only watched it for three times and watched kingdom for the planet of the apes
As someone who has watched all 9 Planet Of The Apes movies, I have noticed that the 3 Andy Serkis movies are essentially reboots of the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Roddy McDowall movies; Rise (2011) is Escape (1971), Dawn (2014) is Conquest (1972), & War (2017) is Battle (1973). The teaser for Kingdom (2024) makes me hopeful that we will get modern day reboots of the Original (1968) & Beneath (1970) as well, especially since there was a character named Nova in those 2 films.
As someone who only has vague recollections of watching the original with my dad, slightly clearer memories of watching Tim Burton's remake(?) in the cinemas (Not sure if that's a good thing 😅) but a love for these newer iterations, this has piqued my interest. I definitely think they're building to a properly titled Planet of the Apes one day (wasn't Nova the guy's love interest in the original? can't recall). regardless, going to need to check them out now. Thanks 😁
@@drugsarebad97 yeah we can skip all that. what irks me most about beneath (aside from the plot) is they couldnt get heston to be the lead so they hired a new actor as a new protagonist. but he looks and talks just like heston. then theres basically two hestons in the movie lol its my least favorite for sure
When Ceser killed Koba that was defence of himself and ape kind. Winter is the first time Ceser killed an ape in cold blooded rage. Killing isn't easy. Killing in rage though damages the soul. The dream is Ceser fearing he may become like Koba and become a rage fild monster.
The humans that suvived the earlyer form of the simian flu are immune to the leathat part of it but the flu mutated into what made humans unable to speak and lowered mental function. So Nova will most likely live a relatively normal life span.
I feel how upset you are, I remember seeing this in theaters with my sister, where we grew up watching Caesar's life. My sister bawled her eyes out, man.
37:20 what you have to remember is that most of humanity is dead so these gaurds/soldiers have little to no experience. They are just following the leaders orders in order to survive and offer up any labour they can. That’s why the gaurds are questionable in this film and it makes perfect sense.
I Just Like The Fact That The Only Villian That Showed Fear In Caesar's Eyes, Was Koba. Because The Only Reason Why Koba Was In Caesar's Nightmare Was Because Caesar Killed (Accidentally) Winter. This Is Why, Never Mess With Koba Or He'll Haunt You In Your Nightmares.
I was expecting this reaction, I love you very much, thank you for your content and this year another Planet of the Apes movie will come out. I hope you can react to the trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
I wonder if the Astronauts will end up being in Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes because if y'all remember in Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes they set up the story for the Astronauts somewhere at the start of the movie
I think out of all the movies this one is the one that kept with me the most just the story and the resolution of it all it’s just so I wouldn’t inspiring is the right word but it’s close. Also I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard you like full on swear and you know that’s when it’s gonna be a good movie lol

fun fact (if you don’t know already / no one has told you): the soldiers chant is to determine if they’ve lost their voice

Rocket is such a real one, never switched up on Caesar despite having every reason to do so.
That wasn't Rocket it was his son Ash the Koba killed

It does matter how much gas is inhaled

It’s so nice to see that you still insist on wanting to learn and understand more about your ancestors Don.
"WTF" comments are incoming from ppl who don't know the backstory.

Rocket is the ape that used to bully ceaser in the first moive before ceaser was incharge
Rocket was the ape who bullied Caesar when he first went into the sanctuary aka "ape jail" in Rise.
If this man had his own drinking game 🍺. It would be for every time he says or yells "OH" And then we'd all die lol
The fact that when he roared at the other ape bros soul left his body 😂
Ceasers charecter arc was incredible 😢 so exited for the new one coming out in may

the big difference between Koba and Ceaser, is that Ceasers hate was personal towards one person, Koba hated all humans.
