I 70 EB is Shut Down due to a multi car pile up. Roads are very Icy and Vehicles are struggling to get up the pass. As of now it is still closed for clean up. Heavy Snow will continue thru the night and into Monday. Vail

Please regular car drivers realize the fact that you can't often see what is ahead and just drive extra carefully, slower and super defensively! 💕🙏💕
I live in Southern Ontario, Canada, and we get winter conditions like that almost every week in the winter months. The people who did not use winter tires have either died in accidents already, or they moved South. The rest of the people here use their winter tires from the start of November until the end of March. You don't buy winter tires to 'GO', you buy winter tires so you can 'STOP'.
Would have loved to see a little more of that plow at the end of the video.

Was on I-70 east of Vail this past February it was dry and sunny, it's steep and winding told son who just moved to Denver to stay away in winter.

That trucker had to be furious that the pickup truck just kept trying to go. Can he not see he's spinning INTO HIM? It was a horrible situation, but the trucker was trying his best to pass.
Retards live in Colorado and then buy a 2wd truck when they could have bought a 4x4.
If ya looked you'd see the trucker was merging into the lane of the pickup and then he got stuck.

I lived in Leadville for 10 years, worked in the Vail Valley for most of those, I drove I-70 over Vail pass a lot, never fails in the winter, truck driver's go through Avon, and Vail, roads are wet, get 2/3 way up and it turns to snow packed and Ice. Also seen the vehicles with bald tires sliding all over causing more problems than trucks.
I HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY...I ONLY RUN COLORADO THREE MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR..JUNE JULY AND AUGUST....
a portion of that is eastbound i70, east of silverthorne, yes vail pass is no joke

This is over 10,000ft in Colorado, the climate is subpolar up there due to elevation. 9 month snow season

Unless they fell off the side of the mountain, up to a few hundred feet of a dropoff. At that point they'd be better off calling a recovery heli with a basket to recover the dead bodies.

Snow covered roads are the best for Uber. Especially when you drive a Prius with chains (like I do). A 1 hour ride could be upwards of $150 in just surges alone. And on top of that, no other uber drivers drive in the snow. They want to keep their Mercedes and cadillacs fresh and in pristine condition. I make their money when they're being stupid. Lol.
It’s a shame that the Colorado mountains get as much traffic as a metro area. The state got to instagrammed to death. RIP you were once a great place with few people.
I'd like to say that when they legalized marijuana here they screwed colorado over in so many ways. What once used to be a 15 minute drive to downtown in 2009, now takes 45 minutes to drive to downtown in 2019. I can not wait for the market to crash and all these people move back home. Especially those from Texas and California. It's sad that most, probably 95% of all aggressive drivers I have ever seen while driving all come from either Texas or California. Go back home and leave Colorado alone, because either way they are going to be calling in to work when there is even 3 inches of snow on the ground.

Also, Californians have a stronghold on the state government now since it changed to an extreme leftist environment. They destroyed their home state and now they are coming after yours. I fled to Utah. As long as the Mormons are here this place will stay conservative.

Yeah its doable but i think truckers should force the issue of transporting farther south to avoid this mess.
The bigger the truck the smaller the rear lights, some scope for safety improvement.

Why would anybody drive a rear wheel drive vehicle in the high country in these conditions.
These days, don't know, but before front and all wheel drive, it was the only way. Used to go with my dad to his work in a Mustang. He had studded snow tires and bags of kitty litter in the trunk over the tear wheels for weight. It's rough but can be done, he was just an excellent driver.
it seems these drivers don't know anything about winter driving, here is the bottom line, know your road, know your vehicle and know your experience, 2x4, 4x4, or front wheel drive, they all stop on the same four tires. chains help but when it comes to stopping, they don't offer much help. in my experience I used studded tires, however there is a new product that might be better, I have never used it because I moved to south Texas and now, I have to put up with the heat, damned if I do and damned if I don't
