Es el mejor video de intemperizado que he visto a la fecha, muy buena técnica, la voy a aplicar en mi U-BOOT 1/72. Gracias por compartir

just want to say thanks, expecting my printed parts shortly, and your painting guide was good enough to give me confidence even the first time

    Best rust effect I've seen.

I have seen this done with oils, a first for me with water and acrylics! Outstanding effect.....

Yes! Decided that I wanted a model that didn't just live in the computer for once, it's fun!

A great demonstration of know-how and mastery.
please, do you varnish the model before applying the aging or do you work on the paint directly?
    Thank you
    Marc

Hi! I don't use any varnish at all, just remember that oils can go on top of acrylics, but not the other way round.

hey, no i don't use any varnish between the layers, i'm mostly building up lots of thin layers, i like the matt finish of the paint, if I use varnish, my weathering on top looks kind of smeary.

Nice job, but sure woulda liked to see the entire finished project. If you insist on captioning at least leave them up long enough to read them. Had to keep backing up and pausing to read them. Music was kinda cool.

Looks awesome!!! Im new to revell and modelling and want to get some Information, so how do you did the weathering before the rust so the two different Greys, because that Looks amazing but i have no clue how to do it

I used the ‘hairspray technique”. You need an airbrush, and there are lots of tutorials around for it. Here, I do a dark rust brown over everything, then 2 coats of regular hairspray, let it dry (hairdryer helps). Then the grey color, a thin coat, tamiya sky grey in this case. Once dry I take a brush dipped in water, and soak the grey paint.Ssome of it soaks through the grey paint , and dissolves the hairspray underneath. Since tamiya paint is slightly plastic it will tear slightly into chips. Once done I repeated the process with white on top. It’s a tricky technique. Practice on some tank models.

Great work! May I ask what kind of Tamiya Flat white base and sky grey coat did you use (acrylic, enamel, lacquer??) before the acrylic rusting?

Hey, I use tamiya acrylic, thier white (XF-2) is quite chalky, you have to experiment with it a bit.

Nice work, i can apply your video to a S-100 Schnellboat I'm ready to weather.

"Schnellboat"... or "fastboot" - how about a 'Schnellboot' - if you go all German, keep it clean if not "E - Boat" is ample... :)

Awesome stuff! Two quick questions if you dont mind me asking:
    1) what do you use to break the surface tension of the water? (when I try it the water just pools into a drop instead of applying an even layer on top of the paint)
    2) I assume you only apply varnish after having finished the weathering? If so what kind of varnish do you use?

    • @TristanReidford
      @TristanReidford  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hello! In order to break the water tension it has to be matt paint, and if you just scrub the water in with a brush for a bit, it eventually coats without the pooling. and 2, I tend to avoid varnish, I find it makes the surface uniform matt/gloss, and I like the bit of variation you can get with weathering techniques. Cheers!

Very good work. The MUZAK is the kind of thing that can cause the head to explode, bring on a seizure, aggravate a person to the point of serious bodily harm to others, or, just not even want to watch... even with the volume down. I have no questions about any techniques, the information provided comes so thick and fast that the pause toggle is required if you actually nerd to read it. My advice, come and live in the times, score the footage with music given to relaxation not total distraction and expand the moment when info is provided... please promise the world you'll never make a movie... :)
