The make or break for me is in-game transformations and fusions. The old games gave us new move sets for transformed characters, taunts, etc. That needs to be a thing in this new one, it made the transformations actually mean something. Speaking of, fusions. I wanna see them be able to be done in game since they haven’t since I think Dragon Ball Fusions.
the best part of budokai tenkaichi 3 was that the game was wildly imbalenced. I loved that you were at a huge disadvantage if you were playing roshi vs perfect cell. I loved that cells absorb attack actually drained a lot of health. I loved that turning into a great ape actually made you way larger. A lot of new fighting games are extremely focused on being balanced competitive games as if they're trying to make a sport out of it and become the next big esport, like nah, give me the trash, i want the doritos of fighting games
I don't think a game that ignores balance will be fun online. I feel like Raging Blast (which was made by the same developers) got it right You could counter a lot of spammers online, deflect super attacks etc. I don't want a super competitive game like Fighterz, but balance is definitely needed I remember when Naruto Storm 2 came out and the online was terrible because of spammers and cheap players. They eventually balanced things out and now Storm 4 is regarded as the best Naruto game
People that says the game was unbalanced are ppl who didn't know how to play nor use special skills with circle when needed. Game was perfect if you knew how to play it.

@@bobowon5450 to be honest @sasuke65742 is right because even if your character lets say roshi in this case had less powerful punches or wasnt as fast if you were a decent player you could use dragon sway and dodge all of their punches and counter them off or you could teleport or you could start a combo and stop mid way and use the counter mechanic to get some distance i think the point he was making is that even if some characters were cheap there were always characters specifically designed to counter those in some way and every character could dragon sway or counter mid combo so those were the balancing that youre speaking of you literally just needed to know how to play the game and use the mechanics it wasnt some high level thing it was literally normal gameplay
I'm surprised not many content creator have mentioned this, but being able to do the fusion dance or potara fusion in game would be awesome to do again.
I personally think 125 characters with a like 5% overlap is a good idea because i loved the “early” “mid” “end” thing where characters had some of the same animations and transformations but different attacks relating to that character. For example: early Ssj gokus angry kamehameha and the mid version gokus instant transmission kamehameha.
Yeah, 120 is the number I hope for at bare minimum. Though I'd trim down the Gokus. A Z Goku, gt Goku and a DBS Goku. Maybe a kid Goku but I'm not too concerned if they cut OG Dragon Ball as long as Master Roshi is playable.
You got your Gokus mixed up. Mid Super Saiyan Goku had Angry Kamehameha while the End one has Instant Kamehameha. There is no Early Super Saiyan Goku, since Early Goku is based on the Saiyan Saga.

One thing I really want is just being able to transform into multiple forms again. That was one thing I could never get over when it came to the xenoverse series cause the only transformation you could use was the one you had equipped except for super saiyan. I want to be able to use goku's super saiyan forms and his god forms in the same battle. It just makes the match more fun in my opinion
You forgot kaioken having multiple levels but ya that would be better. Also let us decide what level we want instead of how much ki we have. Some times I just want ssj2 but I get 3 since my ki is over 5 bars

I hope the characters have the customizable stuff like Raging Blast 2 did. It was really cool being able to change characters charging auras, halo/scouters, etc. Just without the prerequisite that Raging blast 2 had where you had to grind out each characters points to be able to equip all of that stuff
I want the epic cutscenes where the character transforms in the middle of battle. It was always so fun fighting people as base goku and slowly going up to super saiyan 1-3 as the fights go on with the cutscene showing it. If they don’t have that I’ll be upset lol
Yeah man! I remember playing split screen with my buddy and picking Goku and Vegeta for my team. Slowly powering up ro SS1, SS2 and eventually fusing into Vegito or Gogeta. That was so epic to do!

Closest thing to a breaking point for me is if they don't bring back or expand upon fully destructible environments. I still remeber one instance as a kid my cousin was playing Vegeta and I was Goku and fired a point blank Final Flash in the Cell Map, it nuked everything around, yet some how missed me despite me being point blank. Had us reeling.
I just wanna be able to play Moro so bad. They should definitely bring back map destruction, beam clashes, and giant transformations. Being able to have Hirudegarn vs cell max would be amazing. I'm also hoping they make more interactive maps like kicking your opponents out of the city into the desert area or throwing your opponent into the side of a building like raging blast had and what if scenarios like super buu absorbing tien in budokai. That would be dope.
@@roxtechs That's not true. Naruto Storm 4, a project that was created by Bandai, released the ending of the new story before the anime did. For context, Storm 4 came out Febuary 2016 and the story mode adapted the Kaguya arc. The Kaguya arc never finished in the anime until like October 2016.

Definitely if they radically change the core fighting system. It's the gameplay and the creativity it allowed that drew me to the series as a kid. Especially Tenkaichi 3.
While I don’t really have any breaking points, one thing that would suck for me (other than the game NOT being tenkaichi) would be if characters like Frieza and Cell not being able to transform into their other forms. Another thing I guess would the lack of a story mode. I know people might not want the same old story we’ve been getting for so long, but it’s at least something to do and I want these games to start getting into stuff (that is, if Kakarot doesn’t do it first)
I think it depends on what you means by unique. For example, I think names saga base goku and super saiyan goku feel very different to me in bt3, but the biggest difference is honestly they just have different animations. They mostly have the same combos in terms of inputs, but the wide visual difference makes them feel unique to me. I think everyone will have the main mash one button combo as they did in bt3. I don’t think it’s plausible to do otherwise. Honestly, fighterz barely pulled unique combos with a 40 character roster. But the way I could see them trying to make differentiations in this game would be adding more support supers like explosive wave and wild sense, and by adding in more rush combos. Cause currently there’s: rush of high fast attacks, guard break, bitch slap guard break, small invisible ki wave, big invisible ki wave, and big visible ki wave. If they added more and spread that out to more characters as well as giving all of the rush attacks more follow ups, I think that could give a lot of uniqueness and depth to the game really easily

This isn't a make or break feature, but I'd love to see the return of forms being different "characters" with their own combo animations and super attacks. Heck, just do what Raging Blast did and let us use any costume with any form and customize each form's abilities.
Personally I want them to cut down on that. The one character has ~many forms. Let me power up to them, changing the moves and manurisms. They already had that mildly. Naturally, outside of oddities like GT Goku who was reverted to a kid (and a different univers) for those type of situations sure. 2-3 characters as they are technically different iterations makes sense. IDK. Maybe I'm putting too much faith in the hardware or developers, but I think that would be cool.
The Roster has to be huge. That was the biggest part of Tenkaichi. Tenkaichi 3 had 98 characters on PS2. There's no reason this game shouldn't have at least that or surpass it. With the state of game development sadly, we will probably get 50 to start, and then like 10 DLC packs with like 4 or 5 characters FighterZ style. I have high hopes though. Best case scenario we get 150 characters by the time its at its peak before they stop releasing content.
I think the western version will probably keep budokai tenkaichi 4 for consistency where the japanese version will have the sparking name with whatever suffix I hope it's sparking zero because that just sounds dope and sort of keeps the idea of revitalizing the series in the modern era.

She was my raid boss in the entire Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that little girl was the toughest fight I ever had every other character was pretty easy to deal with xD Beam clashes as well as fist clashes were what made me actually feel like I am in the game fighting as the character because you actually had to roll those control sticks like your life depended on it xD
I feel like a large part of the fun of budokai tenkaichi is that despite a lot of characters sharing attacks, you could learn to play once and then you can play any character without much adjustment. If they made every character unique it'd be cool, but also you'd have to learn how to play every different character from the ground up
The massive roster is what i want And of course story mode. I hope we get a super long story mode, going from og dragon ball to super hero, and if they REALLY wanna go over the top, being back what if saga… Also i want a fun return of world tournament and cell games, and of course the various other modes like all tenkaichi and raging blast series
Make or break for me is tied between having the iconic 5v5 I'd he okay with 4 or even three, but it has to have it. Also, it needs the world martial arts tournament, no if ands or buts .
Considering the teaser ended off with SSB Goku, I'm 80% sure the new game will probably be called "Dragon Ball Super: Budokai Tenkaichi", a soft reboot that will try to bring back as much stuff as possible. Emphasis on TRY, since I know for a fact we won't reach a 161-character roster like Tenkaichi 3. Though, considering the new Goku model seems to take cues from Raging Blast Goku, it wouldn't surprise me if they used some of those old RB assets and build up from that.
I think we'll get a lot closer to the character count than a lot think, ik it's this way in the storm series, but aren't the individual forms counted as their own characters? Ik they have different movesets and there's gonna be like say, kid Goku, maybe teen 23 BT Goku, early z, mid, late z, super so like 6 Goku's 😭
Loved the roster how there was characters serperated by sagas. So there was a saiyan saga goku, mid, end that was really cool to me. Loved all the costumes as well.
Make or break for me is the roster and the story. If I see another retelling of dragon ball z imma be upset however, I also want the roster to be big too I felt like I could as anybody in bt3 so I want a massive roster mainly of z and super characters. Including GT and Dragon ball characters might be too big of a stretch considering we are talking Bandai there is gonna be a bunch of dlc for this game. I liked Raging Blast 2 more than Tenkaichi 3 but they had so many similarities that I don't mind. A VERY GOOD THING THOUGH... Raging Blast 2 looked very pretty graphics and animation wise and BT4 will even look much better with a massive roster probably. Copy and pasting animations is not an issue for me since BT3 did that a lot but these days you have tone it down a little since the expectations rose the more modern things got in gaming^^
I think the main thing the characters should have his different super attacks like in xenoverse and also a variety of combo animations. Of course some animation will be shared but there are only so many ways to throw a punch and throw your enemy (XV2 does this as well).
In dragon ball bt3 I 3 main 5v5 teams cuz that's how me and my friends played 1 easy 2 medium 3 death. Team 1 was kid Goku, kid Chi-Chi, grandpa Gohan, Master roshi and bardok. Team 2 had the same list except swap roshi and Gohan for fasha trunks cell games/fighting. Team 3 My main team trunks cell games/fighting, bardok,kid Chi-Chi or videl, broly and ss4 gogeta. So for me it's going to be a bit of a let down if we don't get the roster back from bt3 and then they just add dragon ball super and super dragon ball heroes characters cuz dragon ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was a game were you could take a character who had like a bar and half and fight someone who had 3x that and it would be canon cuz it be like kid Goku vs omega sheron or something it was great and my favorite part was the story mode and actually unlocking stuff via world tournament mode and the shop and story mode especially the what if scenarios.

When it comes to BT3 people always talk about the roster but the strongest thing about BT3 is the gameplay . It’s nearly flawless , emulates the series very well and is the main reason it’s had the longevity it’s had . If bt4 can port the same gameplay style but updated it’ll be great

Honestly one of the worst things they can do is give in to the nostalgia merchants, the bt series was fine, but dragon ball games and overall anime games usually suck more often than not so the bar is low. There's a lot of good they can keep from the og series but there's a lot they can do to make this easily the best in the series

I'm genuinely surprised nobody has mentioned it yet but GOOD ONLINE NETCODE NEEDS TO BE IN THE GAME FULL STOP. Bad netcode is what killed Xenoverse 2 for me dealing with Ridiculous/cheesy builds would have been honestly less of a pain if you could actually hit your opponent and punish them, and in the case of DBFZ I know we are eventually getting rolled back next code but that is later in the year and online is honestly Extremely bad right now When you're Trying to fight Gogeta ss4, Blue Gogeta, Lab coat 21, UI Goku, and Vegetio blue for the 1,000,000th time while playing Microsoft power point

The make or break for me is if they slow down/dumb down the gameplay. The insanely fast paced, hyper responsive and buttery smooth controls are the reason I still come back to BT3. Future titles like Raging Blast 1, RB 2 and Xenoverse feel so sluggish and unresponsive in comparison. which is why I rarely return to those after completing their story modes.
For me the breaking point is actually adding something. Balance. If they make it so it’s just as easy to beat Cell as Hercule as it would be Ss4 Gogeta, the game has a problem.
This will be called Dragon Ball Fighterz Super. The ransomware attack on August 2022 at Bandai Namco had its logo revealed by a dataminer before he was fired. The engine of Budokai Tenkaichi is getting used but the mechanics of Fighterz is implemented
Characters with tons of forms should have costumes for specific arcs (like XV/2). Story wise, I would love for them to have in-engine cutscenes so they can really put time into morphing around the character models. The make or break for me is Mid-Battle transformations, Giant characters, environmental destruction, characters like; Eighter, Roshi, Appule, Frieza Soilder, Pilaf Gang, Fasha, and the return of sayain armor Trunks. Not any of that armor with sword bs Xenoverse pulled but actual Base trunks-Super Trunks like BT3
The most important thing they need to perfect is COMBAT. The best thing for me about Tenkaichi 3 was how satisfying it felt to perform combos, perfect vanishes, beam clashes, Rushes. And also the fact that most of the characters weren't broken. For ex Broly even though he has Super Armor it doesn't work on characters like Ssj3 Goku, Fusion Characters, Gt Characters, Kid Buu and Arale.
I think it's going to be called Dragon Ball Super Tenkaichi. From the in-development name being Zero. They're definitely going to soften expectations (of the large roster specifically) by having it be the start of a new tenkaichi franchise.
I don’t have a breaking point thing that will make me not get it. But I would love to have some cool side modes like in the og budokai 1-3. I personally preferred the control scheme of budokai 3 and infinite world over tenkaichi. But the cool side modes like Hercules quest or whatever would be fun to see added
Gameplay or bust. Being able to string together a crapton of combos with square and then triangle depending on how much you pressed square or triangle in a direction. That one little piece of depth to the fighting mechanics is what makes these games great for me. Obviously the flying, beam clashes, and special moves as well that all work together but like you said yourself, raging blast was a dumbed down version of Tenkaichi. So they need to take the Tenkaichi formula and take it a step up in terms of how you can attack or maybe defend this time. Dodging in a game like Burst Limit was one of the most satisfying things ever, maybe they could bring something like that back.
Dragon Ball: Ultra Sparking. Tenkaichi was called "Sparking" in Japan. In the trailer for Tenkaichi 4, it said "A new sparking begins". It makes the most sense, at least to me.
Needs: struggles/clashes are a must, characters that have their own transformations and playstyles, fun/unique characters, fun story mode (bt2 style) Get rid of: reskins of other characters.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! REVIVAL in Japan and BT4 everywhere else would be my guess I'd love a large roster but with every character being unique more specifically in regards to as minimal move sharing as possible like the Frieza Soldiers and that sort of thing, I'm not gonna be mad If Perfect Cell has a chargeable Kamehameha but having like around 20 characters all with "Full Power Energy Wave" is ridiculous. Ideally it'd be like around 100 characters with all of them being unique. Would love the story mode to be an even more improved version of how BT3 did but with BT2's depth in regards to the what-if's. Hell I'd love a story mode like BT2's where you could transform into forms characters shouldn't have yet and they could add in reactions to like Saiyan saga characters seeing Goku go like Super Saiyan 3 and everything
Must Have: - BT3 Combat with maybe new mechanics - 5v5 - Transformations mid fight & one character having multiple transformations (Goku SSJ -> SSJ2 -> SSJ3 -> God -> Blue) - Cinematic Super Attacks, i always loved that it locked you in that animation and you would see the enemy or yourself get beat up, i dont like Xenoverse combat that much because of the reason that super attacks just feel weak - "Good" Online Battles Hype if they add it: - Beam Clashes / Melee Clashes - DBSuper Story Mode - 5v5 and every player controls one character - Tournament Mode Online - Raid Bosses Online - Customizable Super Attacks (Like in Raging Blast) - BT2 & 3 OSTs but Remixed Nice to have but not neccesary: - Giant Roster at release (50 - 70 Characters at release is in my opinions reasonable without DLC, it wont be 140 or something that unless the game releases in 2 years) - Different Animated Intros for every character - Giants There is not really much to fuck up, BT3 was almost the perfect Dragonball Game. If BT4 is just BT3 with better graphics, DBSuper characters and Online Battles it WILL be the best Dragonball Game.
The budokai tenkaichi franchise actually replicated how a DBZ fight would be: over the top and crazy if they don't manage to do this with the new budokai tenkaichi then they have failed.
I think the main thing that the new game has to sell me on is the overall speed being just like Tenkaichi 3. One of the main gripes I had with Raging Blast is while it did add new elements and mechanics to the system, it overall felt WAY slower than BT3.(that said I’d love some of RB mechanics to come back for BT4). The overall core gameplay of Tenkaichi is built with all the staples of DB in mind so I’m not worried about stuff like Beam Struggles and tag team ideas. But I need the overall speed of the game to be just like, If not at least VERY close to the original games.
So rhyme has a good point tenkaichi had so many chars in the past just because the lack of hardware i cannot imagine a roster super super huge with beam struggles and super godly transformation animations with super amazing flashy super attacks with such little time. At best we get ALL of this with maybe like 75 stock characters on release with a shit ton of DLC or they make more series down the line. Im honestly just hoping transformations and super attacks hold up with at least up to black arc characters for stock (main roster) main roster GT characters and many dbz characters. We have to be realistic here if the super attacks and forms are gonna look GODLY i don't think we should hope for a super massive roster rn
The breaking point for me is literally the combo / fighting system If the game integrates the tenkiachi fight system like how you can transform into every form and how you combo That’s what makes it special
I don't think anything could kill my interest in the game unless it's a predatory MTX game (but we're seeing fewer and fewer all the time). I do unfortunately think plenty of features will have to be cut from the original series, but as long as the key features make it in, like beam clashes, mid-match transformations, environmental destruction and a decently sized roster I'll be good. If I had to speculate on the roster and the variety between characters, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a character customisation feature (similar to those that appeared previously, especially in the Budokai games) in which we get 1 base character with "slot-in" moves and transformations and a bunch of costumes to represent every era. Essentially, rather than 10 versions of Goku, we'll just get Goku, Goku (kid) and Goku (GT), and they'll have set basic attacks, combos and animations, but they'll have access to their own list of specials, supers and transformations to pick between. Also, mid-match fusions should absolutely come back, and if the system I described makes it in, they shouldn't be exchangeable and there should instead be a dedicated fusion button if you have the right team members. I really don't think that's too much to ask, and definitely won't be too hard to make. It's probably easier than making around 200 unique characters with multiple forms and move sets that change with the form, and also prevents Goku from having 100 different forms to pick between in one match.
Looking forward to a new tournament mode. Calling it here: Tournament of Power, an overly massive tournament that can include every character in the game. And like the old Cell Games tournament, the final battle will always be against Jiren.
Growing up I had ultimate battle 22, and burst limit because my family didn't have a lot of money, I played the heck outta burst limit, I got XenoVerse 1 later in life, I was like 15, then I got XenoVerse 2 in 2018, I never got to experience the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 greatness, so this new game will be my introduction to the Tenkaichi series, I hope it's just a good game, with a awesome story mode
one thing i loved about the old tenkaichi games was just how much special moves all of the characters had. specifically 3, i feel like if this is just a one game thing they could make the roster shorter at a flat 100 characters and after dlc maybe it shoots up to 190 or 180. what want to see is just how much you will be able to do with the characters like you have to keep fusion transformations and put in the messed up fusions
If another trailer for the new DBZBT game comes out. I'm expecting them to show off Vegeta's SSGSS Evolved transformation in the trailer because since this form wasn't put in DBFZ. I believe it'll be in the next trailer for more hype
I know movies will probably go DLC, and maybe what if fights like BT3 will also be DLC like Jiren v. Broly. The only thing that could make me not want it is something like Ultimate Tenkaichi

I like to see dragon Ball come back too bc when I unlock Future Gohan in BT3 I was sooo hype when I got him ,I like to see that again . All and All I'm hype as l hell for sure 😎. Alright here me out… If Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has Online Ranked matches/ casual matches. A World Tournament mode WITH SPECTATING, an original dragon ball, dragon ball Z, and dragon ball super story mode, a character roster with 90 characters at least for the base game, and melee mechanics from the highly underrated Raging Blast series MIXED WITH TENKAICHI SUPERS/FAST PACE GAMEPLAY! Ladies and gentlemen we have won indeed. Too much potential
Since the announcement trailer was the old games and transitioning a transformation from old to updated graphics, I'm very hopeful for the same series. Hard to think if every player is unique because of limited iniquity in their few fights. I assume anything in the manga that has yet to be animated is DLC because of avoiding spoilers and being unknown to fans.
Definitely gonna be name some like Budokai Tenkaichi(2024 or whatever year it releases). God Of War (2018) did it and Modern Warfare did it twice (2019 & 2022). It seems like a trend amongst new games of well known IP nowadays.
You’re 100% right. It seems like with the announcement of a new Budokai tenkaichi everybody lost critical thinking. The Budokai Tenkaichi series was our childhood, but it had a big roaster only because most of the characters were just reskin of other characters, copy and paste. And now people want an even bigger roaster and also from day one (no dlc), but the only way they’re doing that is that, just like BT3, most characters are made through copy and paste. I Would rather have a roaster updated through DLCs with characters that also feel different in the way you can play them.
@@TheAlexDouglas if the copy and paste is done to irrelevant characters (like the group of wolfs/dogs of the tournament of power) is ok, but not to the main ones. I would rather have 35 characters (without counting the transformations) that are different from one another than 100 that are very similar or the same
I just want characters to be able to transform pre or in battle. Biggest gripe i have with Xenoverse is the fact that the CPU will NEVER transform and you can't select them in already transformed states (unless it's a separate character like SSB)
The make or break for me is in-game transformations and fusions. The old games gave us new move sets for transformed characters, taunts, etc. That needs to be a thing in this new one, it made the transformations actually mean something. Speaking of, fusions. I wanna see them be able to be done in game since they haven’t since I think Dragon Ball Fusions.

the best part of budokai tenkaichi 3 was that the game was wildly imbalenced. I loved that you were at a huge disadvantage if you were playing roshi vs perfect cell. I loved that cells absorb attack actually drained a lot of health. I loved that turning into a great ape actually made you way larger. A lot of new fighting games are extremely focused on being balanced competitive games as if they're trying to make a sport out of it and become the next big esport, like nah, give me the trash, i want the doritos of fighting games
I don't think a game that ignores balance will be fun online. I feel like Raging Blast (which was made by the same developers) got it right
You could counter a lot of spammers online, deflect super attacks etc. I don't want a super competitive game like Fighterz, but balance is definitely needed
I remember when Naruto Storm 2 came out and the online was terrible because of spammers and cheap players. They eventually balanced things out and now Storm 4 is regarded as the best Naruto game

@@bobowon5450 to be honest @sasuke65742 is right because even if your character lets say roshi in this case had less powerful punches or wasnt as fast if you were a decent player you could use dragon sway and dodge all of their punches and counter them off or you could teleport or you could start a combo and stop mid way and use the counter mechanic to get some distance i think the point he was making is that even if some characters were cheap there were always characters specifically designed to counter those in some way and every character could dragon sway or counter mid combo so those were the balancing that youre speaking of you literally just needed to know how to play the game and use the mechanics it wasnt some high level thing it was literally normal gameplay
I'm surprised not many content creator have mentioned this, but being able to do the fusion dance or potara fusion in game would be awesome to do again.
Facts I loved that in the older games
I personally think 125 characters with a like 5% overlap is a good idea because i loved the “early” “mid” “end” thing where characters had some of the same animations and transformations but different attacks relating to that character. For example: early Ssj gokus angry kamehameha and the mid version gokus instant transmission kamehameha.

Though I'd trim down the Gokus. A Z Goku, gt Goku and a DBS Goku. Maybe a kid Goku but I'm not too concerned if they cut OG Dragon Ball as long as Master Roshi is playable.

You got your Gokus mixed up. Mid Super Saiyan Goku had Angry Kamehameha while the End one has Instant Kamehameha. There is no Early Super Saiyan Goku, since Early Goku is based on the Saiyan Saga.

One thing I really want is just being able to transform into multiple forms again. That was one thing I could never get over when it came to the xenoverse series cause the only transformation you could use was the one you had equipped except for super saiyan. I want to be able to use goku's super saiyan forms and his god forms in the same battle. It just makes the match more fun in my opinion
You forgot kaioken having multiple levels but ya that would be better. Also let us decide what level we want instead of how much ki we have. Some times I just want ssj2 but I get 3 since my ki is over 5 bars

I hope the characters have the customizable stuff like Raging Blast 2 did. It was really cool being able to change characters charging auras, halo/scouters, etc. Just without the prerequisite that Raging blast 2 had where you had to grind out each characters points to be able to equip all of that stuff
I want the epic cutscenes where the character transforms in the middle of battle. It was always so fun fighting people as base goku and slowly going up to super saiyan 1-3 as the fights go on with the cutscene showing it. If they don’t have that I’ll be upset lol

Yeah man! I remember playing split screen with my buddy and picking Goku and Vegeta for my team. Slowly powering up ro SS1, SS2 and eventually fusing into Vegito or Gogeta. That was so epic to do!

Closest thing to a breaking point for me is if they don't bring back or expand upon fully destructible environments. I still remeber one instance as a kid my cousin was playing Vegeta and I was Goku and fired a point blank Final Flash in the Cell Map, it nuked everything around, yet some how missed me despite me being point blank. Had us reeling.
I just wanna be able to play Moro so bad. They should definitely bring back map destruction, beam clashes, and giant transformations. Being able to have Hirudegarn vs cell max would be amazing. I'm also hoping they make more interactive maps like kicking your opponents out of the city into the desert area or throwing your opponent into the side of a building like raging blast had and what if scenarios like super buu absorbing tien in budokai. That would be dope.

@@roxtechs That's not true. Naruto Storm 4, a project that was created by Bandai, released the ending of the new story before the anime did. For context, Storm 4 came out Febuary 2016 and the story mode adapted the Kaguya arc. The Kaguya arc never finished in the anime until like October 2016.

While I don’t really have any breaking points, one thing that would suck for me (other than the game NOT being tenkaichi) would be if characters like Frieza and Cell not being able to transform into their other forms. Another thing I guess would the lack of a story mode. I know people might not want the same old story we’ve been getting for so long, but it’s at least something to do and I want these games to start getting into stuff (that is, if Kakarot doesn’t do it first)

I think it depends on what you means by unique. For example, I think names saga base goku and super saiyan goku feel very different to me in bt3, but the biggest difference is honestly they just have different animations. They mostly have the same combos in terms of inputs, but the wide visual difference makes them feel unique to me. I think everyone will have the main mash one button combo as they did in bt3. I don’t think it’s plausible to do otherwise. Honestly, fighterz barely pulled unique combos with a 40 character roster. But the way I could see them trying to make differentiations in this game would be adding more support supers like explosive wave and wild sense, and by adding in more rush combos. Cause currently there’s: rush of high fast attacks, guard break, bitch slap guard break, small invisible ki wave, big invisible ki wave, and big visible ki wave. If they added more and spread that out to more characters as well as giving all of the rush attacks more follow ups, I think that could give a lot of uniqueness and depth to the game really easily
Since this isn't a competitive fighting game, its not bad that all characters have the same input and different animations.

This isn't a make or break feature, but I'd love to see the return of forms being different "characters" with their own combo animations and super attacks. Heck, just do what Raging Blast did and let us use any costume with any form and customize each form's abilities.

Naturally, outside of oddities like GT Goku who was reverted to a kid (and a different univers) for those type of situations sure. 2-3 characters as they are technically different iterations makes sense.

The Roster has to be huge. That was the biggest part of Tenkaichi. Tenkaichi 3 had 98 characters on PS2. There's no reason this game shouldn't have at least that or surpass it. With the state of game development sadly, we will probably get 50 to start, and then like 10 DLC packs with like 4 or 5 characters FighterZ style. I have high hopes though. Best case scenario we get 150 characters by the time its at its peak before they stop releasing content.
I think the western version will probably keep budokai tenkaichi 4 for consistency where the japanese version will have the sparking name with whatever suffix I hope it's sparking zero because that just sounds dope and sort of keeps the idea of revitalizing the series in the modern era.

She was my raid boss in the entire Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that little girl was the toughest fight I ever had every other character was pretty easy to deal with xD Beam clashes as well as fist clashes were what made me actually feel like I am in the game fighting as the character because you actually had to roll those control sticks like your life depended on it xD
I feel like a large part of the fun of budokai tenkaichi is that despite a lot of characters sharing attacks, you could learn to play once and then you can play any character without much adjustment. If they made every character unique it'd be cool, but also you'd have to learn how to play every different character from the ground up

Make or break for me is tied between having the iconic 5v5 I'd he okay with 4 or even three, but it has to have it. Also, it needs the world martial arts tournament, no if ands or buts .
Considering the teaser ended off with SSB Goku, I'm 80% sure the new game will probably be called "Dragon Ball Super: Budokai Tenkaichi", a soft reboot that will try to bring back as much stuff as possible. Emphasis on TRY, since I know for a fact we won't reach a 161-character roster like Tenkaichi 3. Though, considering the new Goku model seems to take cues from Raging Blast Goku, it wouldn't surprise me if they used some of those old RB assets and build up from that.
I think we'll get a lot closer to the character count than a lot think, ik it's this way in the storm series, but aren't the individual forms counted as their own characters? Ik they have different movesets and there's gonna be like say, kid Goku, maybe teen 23 BT Goku, early z, mid, late z, super so like 6 Goku's 😭

Loved the roster how there was characters serperated by sagas. So there was a saiyan saga goku, mid, end that was really cool to me. Loved all the costumes as well.
Make or break for me is the roster and the story. If I see another retelling of dragon ball z imma be upset however, I also want the roster to be big too I felt like I could as anybody in bt3 so I want a massive roster mainly of z and super characters. Including GT and Dragon ball characters might be too big of a stretch considering we are talking Bandai there is gonna be a bunch of dlc for this game.

I liked Raging Blast 2 more than Tenkaichi 3 but they had so many similarities that I don't mind. A VERY GOOD THING THOUGH... Raging Blast 2 looked very pretty graphics and animation wise and BT4 will even look much better with a massive roster probably. Copy and pasting animations is not an issue for me since BT3 did that a lot but these days you have tone it down a little since the expectations rose the more modern things got in gaming^^
I think the main thing the characters should have his different super attacks like in xenoverse and also a variety of combo animations. Of course some animation will be shared but there are only so many ways to throw a punch and throw your enemy (XV2 does this as well).
In dragon ball bt3 I 3 main 5v5 teams cuz that's how me and my friends played 1 easy 2 medium 3 death.
Team 1 was kid Goku, kid Chi-Chi, grandpa Gohan, Master roshi and bardok.
Team 2 had the same list except swap roshi and Gohan for fasha trunks cell games/fighting.
Team 3 My main team trunks cell games/fighting, bardok,kid Chi-Chi or videl, broly and ss4 gogeta.
So for me it's going to be a bit of a let down if we don't get the roster back from bt3 and then they just add dragon ball super and super dragon ball heroes characters cuz dragon ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was a game were you could take a character who had like a bar and half and fight someone who had 3x that and it would be canon cuz it be like kid Goku vs omega sheron or something it was great and my favorite part was the story mode and actually unlocking stuff via world tournament mode and the shop and story mode especially the what if scenarios.
I’d really love to see a tenkaichi tag team style mode where you can have 2v2 matches.

When it comes to BT3 people always talk about the roster but the strongest thing about BT3 is the gameplay . It’s nearly flawless , emulates the series very well and is the main reason it’s had the longevity it’s had . If bt4 can port the same gameplay style but updated it’ll be great

Honestly one of the worst things they can do is give in to the nostalgia merchants, the bt series was fine, but dragon ball games and overall anime games usually suck more often than not so the bar is low. There's a lot of good they can keep from the og series but there's a lot they can do to make this easily the best in the series

[Edit] While yes there where a lot of characters that had similar moves, there was a lot of uniqueness among a lot of the characters. Like for example some characters ki blasts where faster etc. Jagger1407 is one of the people in the budokai tenkaichi competitive scene that completely debunks the statement that every character played the same.
Incorrect the reason ultimate tenkaichi was called that was because Bandai ran a poll for what the name of game should be called and the fans CHOOSE thr name ultimate tenkaichi. They played themselves

I'm genuinely surprised nobody has mentioned it yet but GOOD ONLINE NETCODE NEEDS TO BE IN THE GAME FULL STOP. Bad netcode is what killed Xenoverse 2 for me dealing with Ridiculous/cheesy builds would have been honestly less of a pain if you could actually hit your opponent and punish them, and in the case of DBFZ I know we are eventually getting rolled back next code but that is later in the year and online is honestly Extremely bad right now When you're Trying to fight Gogeta ss4, Blue Gogeta, Lab coat 21, UI Goku, and Vegetio blue for the 1,000,000th time while playing Microsoft power point

The costumes and just the added effect of timing your punches and kicks perfectly with that classic boom effect was always fire

The make or break for me is if they slow down/dumb down the gameplay. The insanely fast paced, hyper responsive and buttery smooth controls are the reason I still come back to BT3.
Future titles like Raging Blast 1, RB 2 and Xenoverse feel so sluggish and unresponsive in comparison. which is why I rarely return to those after completing their story modes.
For me the breaking point is actually adding something. Balance. If they make it so it’s just as easy to beat Cell as Hercule as it would be Ss4 Gogeta, the game has a problem.

Budokai Tenkaichi Sparking
Honestly I feel like it'll be smart to just call it "Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi 4" no Z, GT, Super, etc. but whatever tf they call it Imma play tf out of this game if it's good
I seriously want a jukebox mode with old music from old budokai and tenkaichi games to be played. Tekken has it I think it’d be a phenomenal feature in the new bt game
The make or break for me is Mid-Battle transformations, Giant characters, environmental destruction, characters like; Eighter, Roshi, Appule, Frieza Soilder, Pilaf Gang, Fasha, and the return of sayain armor Trunks. Not any of that armor with sword bs Xenoverse pulled but actual Base trunks-Super Trunks like BT3
The most important thing they need to perfect is COMBAT. The best thing for me about Tenkaichi 3 was how satisfying it felt to perform combos, perfect vanishes, beam clashes, Rushes. And also the fact that most of the characters weren't broken. For ex Broly even though he has Super Armor it doesn't work on characters like Ssj3 Goku, Fusion Characters, Gt Characters, Kid Buu and Arale.
I think it's going to be called Dragon Ball Super Tenkaichi. From the in-development name being Zero. They're definitely going to soften expectations (of the large roster specifically) by having it be the start of a new tenkaichi franchise.
I don’t have a breaking point thing that will make me not get it. But I would love to have some cool side modes like in the og budokai 1-3. I personally preferred the control scheme of budokai 3 and infinite world over tenkaichi. But the cool side modes like Hercules quest or whatever would be fun to see added
Gameplay or bust. Being able to string together a crapton of combos with square and then triangle depending on how much you pressed square or triangle in a direction. That one little piece of depth to the fighting mechanics is what makes these games great for me. Obviously the flying, beam clashes, and special moves as well that all work together but like you said yourself, raging blast was a dumbed down version of Tenkaichi. So they need to take the Tenkaichi formula and take it a step up in terms of how you can attack or maybe defend this time. Dodging in a game like Burst Limit was one of the most satisfying things ever, maybe they could bring something like that back.
Dragon Ball: Ultra Sparking. Tenkaichi was called "Sparking" in Japan. In the trailer for Tenkaichi 4, it said "A new sparking begins". It makes the most sense, at least to me.
Needs: struggles/clashes are a must, characters that have their own transformations and playstyles, fun/unique characters, fun story mode (bt2 style)
Get rid of: reskins of other characters.
“Dragonball Z Super Sparking Zero” sounds good

I'd love a large roster but with every character being unique more specifically in regards to as minimal move sharing as possible like the Frieza Soldiers and that sort of thing, I'm not gonna be mad If Perfect Cell has a chargeable Kamehameha but having like around 20 characters all with "Full Power Energy Wave" is ridiculous.
Ideally it'd be like around 100 characters with all of them being unique. Would love the story mode to be an even more improved version of how BT3 did but with BT2's depth in regards to the what-if's. Hell I'd love a story mode like BT2's where you could transform into forms characters shouldn't have yet and they could add in reactions to like Saiyan saga characters seeing Goku go like Super Saiyan 3 and everything
Must Have:
- BT3 Combat with maybe new mechanics
- 5v5
- Transformations mid fight & one character having multiple transformations (Goku SSJ -> SSJ2 -> SSJ3 -> God -> Blue)
- Cinematic Super Attacks, i always loved that it locked you in that animation and you would see the enemy or yourself get beat up, i dont like Xenoverse combat that much because of the reason that super attacks just feel weak
- "Good" Online Battles
Hype if they add it:
- Beam Clashes / Melee Clashes
- DBSuper Story Mode
- 5v5 and every player controls one character
- Tournament Mode Online
- Raid Bosses Online
- Customizable Super Attacks (Like in Raging Blast)
- BT2 & 3 OSTs but Remixed
Nice to have but not neccesary:
- Giant Roster at release (50 - 70 Characters at release is in my opinions reasonable without DLC, it wont be 140 or something that unless the game releases in 2 years)
- Different Animated Intros for every character
- Giants
There is not really much to fuck up, BT3 was almost the perfect Dragonball Game. If BT4 is just BT3 with better graphics, DBSuper characters and Online Battles it WILL be the best Dragonball Game.
The budokai tenkaichi franchise actually replicated how a DBZ fight would be: over the top and crazy if they don't manage to do this with the new budokai tenkaichi then they have failed.
I think the main thing that the new game has to sell me on is the overall speed being just like Tenkaichi 3.
One of the main gripes I had with Raging Blast is while it did add new elements and mechanics to the system, it overall felt WAY slower than BT3.(that said I’d love some of RB mechanics to come back for BT4).
The overall core gameplay of Tenkaichi is built with all the staples of DB in mind so I’m not worried about stuff like Beam Struggles and tag team ideas. But I need the overall speed of the game to be just like, If not at least VERY close to the original games.
So rhyme has a good point tenkaichi had so many chars in the past just because the lack of hardware i cannot imagine a roster super super huge with beam struggles and super godly transformation animations with super amazing flashy super attacks with such little time. At best we get ALL of this with maybe like 75 stock characters on release with a shit ton of DLC or they make more series down the line. Im honestly just hoping transformations and super attacks hold up with at least up to black arc characters for stock (main roster) main roster GT characters and many dbz characters. We have to be realistic here if the super attacks and forms are gonna look GODLY i don't think we should hope for a super massive roster rn
its the smallest details that make the biggest difference, like permanent map destruction or character clothes tearing after a huge blast
The breaking point for me is literally the combo / fighting system
If the game integrates the tenkiachi fight system like how you can transform into every form and how you combo

I don't think anything could kill my interest in the game unless it's a predatory MTX game (but we're seeing fewer and fewer all the time). I do unfortunately think plenty of features will have to be cut from the original series, but as long as the key features make it in, like beam clashes, mid-match transformations, environmental destruction and a decently sized roster I'll be good.
If I had to speculate on the roster and the variety between characters, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a character customisation feature (similar to those that appeared previously, especially in the Budokai games) in which we get 1 base character with "slot-in" moves and transformations and a bunch of costumes to represent every era. Essentially, rather than 10 versions of Goku, we'll just get Goku, Goku (kid) and Goku (GT), and they'll have set basic attacks, combos and animations, but they'll have access to their own list of specials, supers and transformations to pick between.
Also, mid-match fusions should absolutely come back, and if the system I described makes it in, they shouldn't be exchangeable and there should instead be a dedicated fusion button if you have the right team members.
I really don't think that's too much to ask, and definitely won't be too hard to make. It's probably easier than making around 200 unique characters with multiple forms and move sets that change with the form, and also prevents Goku from having 100 different forms to pick between in one match.
Looking forward to a new tournament mode. Calling it here: Tournament of Power, an overly massive tournament that can include every character in the game. And like the old Cell Games tournament, the final battle will always be against Jiren.
I would love story arcs like they did way back in Budokai 3. That honestly was a feature so far ahead of its time
I'd like to see dragon ball heroes content in this game along with super content
Growing up I had ultimate battle 22, and burst limit because my family didn't have a lot of money, I played the heck outta burst limit, I got XenoVerse 1 later in life, I was like 15, then I got XenoVerse 2 in 2018, I never got to experience the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 greatness, so this new game will be my introduction to the Tenkaichi series, I hope it's just a good game, with a awesome story mode
one thing i loved about the old tenkaichi games was just how much special moves all of the characters had. specifically 3, i feel like if this is just a one game thing they could make the roster shorter at a flat 100 characters and after dlc maybe it shoots up to 190 or 180. what want to see is just how much you will be able to do with the characters like you have to keep fusion transformations and put in the messed up fusions
If another trailer for the new DBZBT game comes out. I'm expecting them to show off Vegeta's SSGSS Evolved transformation in the trailer because since this form wasn't put in DBFZ. I believe it'll be in the next trailer for more hype
What I hope is that they take a page out of character customization from previous budokai games and implement it into this new tenkaichi.
Make the AI smart Havin do in game transformation and in game fusion💯🥶🎯.
I know movies will probably go DLC, and maybe what if fights like BT3 will also be DLC like Jiren v. Broly. The only thing that could make me not want it is something like Ultimate Tenkaichi
The rhythm and fast pace of the hand to hand combat is what matters most to me I love screaming THAT WAS DRAGONBALL when I pull of some insane combos
Funny that I'm not mad to have DLC characters and losing characters bc like you said Copy and Paste attack, combos, special. I like to see dragon Ball come back too bc when I unlock Future Gohan in BT3 I was sooo hype when I got him ,I like to see that again . All and All I'm hype as l hell for sure 😎. Also if that don't added no fun game modes like Imma be upset the sim days ,tag/5vs5 team,Cpu fights, Tournaments modes and the Chi-Chi roasting all the characters 😂😂😂
Alright here me out… If Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has Online Ranked matches/ casual matches. A World Tournament mode WITH SPECTATING, an original dragon ball, dragon ball Z, and dragon ball super story mode, a character roster with 90 characters at least for the base game, and melee mechanics from the highly underrated Raging Blast series MIXED WITH TENKAICHI SUPERS/FAST PACE GAMEPLAY! Ladies and gentlemen we have won indeed. Too much potential
Since the announcement trailer was the old games and transitioning a transformation from old to updated graphics, I'm very hopeful for the same series. Hard to think if every player is unique because of limited iniquity in their few fights. I assume anything in the manga that has yet to be animated is DLC because of avoiding spoilers and being unknown to fans.
Definitely gonna be name some like Budokai Tenkaichi(2024 or whatever year it releases). God Of War (2018) did it and Modern Warfare did it twice (2019 & 2022). It seems like a trend amongst new games of well known IP nowadays.
You’re 100% right. It seems like with the announcement of a new Budokai tenkaichi everybody lost critical thinking. The Budokai Tenkaichi series was our childhood, but it had a big roaster only because most of the characters were just reskin of other characters, copy and paste. And now people want an even bigger roaster and also from day one (no dlc), but the only way they’re doing that is that, just like BT3, most characters are made through copy and paste. I Would rather have a roaster updated through DLCs with characters that also feel different in the way you can play them.
I prefer some copy and paste than not Having a lot of characters
@@TheAlexDouglas if the copy and paste is done to irrelevant characters (like the group of wolfs/dogs of the tournament of power) is ok, but not to the main ones. I would rather have 35 characters (without counting the transformations) that are different from one another than 100 that are very similar or the same
All I want is team battles where you can transform or fuse mid battle, I also want stage destruction after major supers.
Just have the characters have multiple forms and if need be separate to handle the other transformations if need be, like XV2 CCs
I just want characters to be able to transform pre or in battle. Biggest gripe i have with Xenoverse is the fact that the CPU will NEVER transform and you can't select them in already transformed states (unless it's a separate character like SSB)
