Apologies for the audio issues! strangely parts only play through the left channel or have weird mixing. Listening in mono setting and turning on captions will help, either way I do hope you understand how amazing the team behind Tenkaichi is!
"And then for the next one, we thought people wouldn't be impressed if we marginally increased the roster. So we went for a minimum roster of 120 characters. *We really felt like we havd to surpass the players' expectations.*" Wow. Wish devs still thought this way EDIT: being wrong is FUN
I really liked how you intertwined pop culture in the beginning half of the video. I felt like I got a history of the time period and a holistic view of when this game released. Pretty immersive!
Great research for a game series whose development is relatively poorly covered. Also good spaced humor and engaging writing. You just made a new sub. Hope to see more videos from you
Criminally underrated, right on par with ZeroAnnihilated’s Depth of Tenkaichi, and somehow better than Globku’s deep dive on Tenkaichi 3’s competitive scene. Highly appreciate the timestamps and overall use & citation of sources. It’d be great to make a longer and more detailed video just about the unused content from the prototypes and demos of the game, considering they speak volumes about game design and development. Overall, don’t get too discouraged by your current number of views and subs, but continue making peak content instead! Much appreciated, mate!
This is one of the kindest and most helpful comments I’ve ever received on here, thank you so much for this and I’ll keep pressing on! Yeah it’s a bit of a shame people don’t quite understand how technical the tenkaichi games are, perhaps a more in-depth video at some point is worth doing
You actually put so much work into this video essay or whatever it is. It was very informing, entertaining, heartwarming and dramatic. Just like Dragon Ball always has been. You deserve more from this entire thing and you got potential for greatness.
Yep, this is one of those videos that are so well crafted-yet so unjustifiably obscure-that you absolutely know will go down in history as one of the best videos on TH-cam.
I remember it was 2007, I was 13 on the Tenkaichi 3 Gamespot forums. I remember being laughed at for saying that Spike were working passionately to make this game special. Easter eggs still being found to this day, RDR2-style😎
- quantity over quality - low following (sharing, liking the video is a huge help) - algorithm bias recommendation - first come first views - long video . A lor people are becoming CDD thanks to shorts and tiktok
Ryo Mito's face was priceless when that woman kept struggling to pronounce Budokai Tenkaichi when the name he decided for the game in his country was already in english
Was listening with right earbud and I thought this video was just an hour of non voiced clips. Glad I decided to put them both in, in the future I hope you balance the audio to make it more accessible for people w strange setups. BANGER VIDEO! Subbed.
Bro this video deserves more views and likes this is the most indepth look at a series of anime game that made many peoples childhoods and got people into anime and dragon ball bravo sir
Nah wtf...This was one of the best indepth looks at a game i've seen. This was absolutely amazing and you should be extremely proud. With Sparking Zero coming out this year i really hope this gets more views. The editing was extremely well done, especially with the small, silly memes that broke the seriousness up of the documentary-style very nicely. Your script was well put together, the only criticism is the voice quality of you speaking.. It seemed to fluctuate High then low. But thats easily overlooked because of quality of the rest of the video AND seeing how this is your first video on the channel. This documentary also made me realise that for most of my adult life looking back, i had been reminiscing over the wrong game. I loved the series, but couldnt afford to buy these games so borrowed from friends at school, i distinctly remember flying around a map and having so much fun with item fusions. I thought it was BT3 but actually...it was BT2 that i was remembering. Also this video deserves a million views just based on the fact that you didnt include Ultimate Tenkaichi hahaha. But for all intensive purposed, again, as a huge Fan of the series...This was amazing, Vision. Hope to see more of your content.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a kind comment, this series is special and I really wanted to do it justice! I will endeavour to make more content, the researching phase is an aspect I treat with care in order to truly understand how something was made, does mean I won’t be a channel that uploads fast though. Again thanks so much, who knows in the future this vid might reach more folks who like the game!
Bro, this video is amazing! You explained tenkaichi in such a fun and entertaining way that I was hooked from the start. It doesn’t matter if you are an old or a new fan of the tenkaichi series, this video has something for everyone. I enjoyed every second of it, it was so engaging and well-made. This is one of the best dragon ball videos I have ever seen on youtube, hands down. You should not be discouraged by the low number of views or likes, because this video is underrated and deserves more attention. You have earned yourself a new subscriber, my friend. I would also love to see you talk more about the competitive fighting scene of the tenkaichi series, and maybe how bad the mods are lol. Thank you so much for uploading such a high-quality video!
Thank you for comment and your subscription ! There’s so much to this gaming series isn’t there, I like your idea of reviewing mods haha. That definitely might be something you see on this channel at some point
I haven't been this captivated by someone's editing since I was little! Thank you for making such a loving, caring, beautifully crafted video on one of my all-time favorite game series. This means the world to me!
Great video, great research. You're missing a bit of editing experience, though. The audio mixing is way off in certain parts of the video (music making your voice hard to hear, and volume changes all over the place). It's a learning curve so I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Keep it up!
Very good retrospective man. I hope you could also make a video talking about the depth that Tenkaichi 2 has with wavedashing and melee cancellation and also Tenkaichi 3's depth as well.
Really really impressive video, well researched, super entertaining, something ive been wishing for, for quite a while and the quality is something i would expect from a channel with tens of thousands of subscribers minimum! Well done man
I love the BT games (specially 2). However, I do think my favorite is still Infinite World (Budokai 4). The capsule system consolidation, removal of the awful Dragon Rush from 3, addition of characters like GT Vegeta, great cinematics, variety in game modes/mini-games, I think its the best in my eyes. I'm super excited for Sparking Zero (Tenkaichi 4) because, while fun, Raging Blast 1 and 2 weren't good enough sequels for me. I do hope what-if stories return.
Man what can I say. Unbelievable video and what a walk down memory lane. I've always wanted to know more about the development in these games and you've shown me stuff I've never seen before. I actually clapped when the video ended 😅
Amazing documentary on the Tenkaichi series congrats to you 7th vision for making this! I have to share my personal view on this series although i have to say i cant recall everything its been too long. It was around 04 to 05 that a friend told me about budokai 3 i remember struggling through it i never liked neither its controls/gameplay or item managing systems but i loved DBZ and there was nothing else bk at that time so....yeah...i played through it tolerating it and making some progress then i left it. The next year '05 i heard about Budokai Tenkaichi mind you there was nothing bk then only magazines and then again i didnt got any info about the game from a magazine so im looking at it and i say another budokai game....hmmm... pfffft but lets give it a try...BOY was i wrong for thinking tenkaichi was like previous DBZ games WAS I WRONG!!!!.......Tenkaichi for me at that time... it had EVERYTHING everything a DBZ fan could ask -Tenkaichi had. I played the HECK out of it on my ps2 recomending it to anyone i knew same with Tenkaichi 2 but harder xDDDD i dont know how many hours i spent doing fictional matches between characters that never took place in the series and here is the great magic of Tenkaichi not only it had great and i mean GREAT gameplay music and visuals for the time but it placed Dragonball on your hand giving you complete control over what ever what if scenario you wanted to pull off that meant infinite replayability and that is the very reason its still being played today. Im glad Bandai namco woke up from their slumber and are finally giving us the proper Tenkaichi 4. Id say much more but i cant remember much only the sheer awesomeness of a feeling this trilogy left me with...
More content please??? This is the best thing I've watched in a long time bro lmao. Would love to see one of these for the Budokai games, and hell whatever else you may be into it. This is very well done
I sure hope Ryo Mito is involved with Dragonball Sparking Zero. Ah, the GameCube version of Budokai 1 is beautiful. This was extremely well done. Subscribed.
Your channel deserves more subscribers! This was a fantastically crafted video, thank you Edit: I got to the end of the video and next time, I'll be on the look out for your cat!
Budokai 3 was my ish for decades. Now I tend to enjoy some of the newer games more. Because of Sparking Zero being announced I recently got back into BT3 but man I’m having trouble relearning the mechanics. ☠️😂🤷♂️
I absolutely love this in-depth video on one of my all time favorite game titles. I can’t wait for Sparking Zero/BT4. It’s gonna be so fun! Thanks for this bro
Wow, I just looked to see you other videos, and saw his channel is relatively new. Damn good job/video 😳. If this was “your” first video… 😳 god damn! Really really really well done! Keep it up! And thank you for the trip 😁
This video is really awesome and a huge nostalgia trip for dragon ball budokai tenkaichi fans, the video editing is very good! HOWEVER man, I don't know ehat happened with the audio editing. Sometimes it is only on the left audio channel which makes listening through speakers or headphones a huge pain unless you turn on mono audio, in some parts of the video the music covers up the voice which makes following what is being said quite difficult and the volume mixing is also all over the place, with the script being pretty quite while sound effects blast you. Hope it gets reuploaded with these issues fixed!
Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.🤷🏻♂️☯️✌️
For me personally I love budokai tenkaichi 2 the most the Roster, OST's and the story plus I love the combat system it's imo peak of dragon ball translated into the games and I still play it to this day
Thank you for the video man, really well edited, I really enjoyed and I am ready for next sunday. It saddens me that we might not get half of what we expect in sparking zero. While playing the original trilogy as a kid as time went by i saw how for instance they removed the radar and lock-on system in tenkaichi 3, also they removed items on stage, or also they remove being able to guard in 4 directions, letting it be only up and down, also damaged clothes got downgraded... I dont think they will put so much detail but lets wait just one more week and see what they got. Ryo mito is in there, maybe he remembers all he tried to accomplish back then
So crazy that Tenkaichi 3 is still the Holy Grail of all dbz games. Im so hyped for tenkaichi 4, but also so scared of how itll turn out. The number 1 thing is the amount of characters. Are they going to be faithful to tenkaichi 3 and give us all (and so many) the characters for free, or are they gonna fuk it up with microtransactions.
When the first Tenkaichi released, it was different and ok for the time but me and my brother were so disappointed when we realized there was no in-game transformations so we quickly went back to playing Budokai 3. When Tenkaichi 2 dropped the following year, it was so insane just how vastly improved everything was from the first, the gameplay felt better and less sluggish, finally had in-game transformations and fusions, the story mode and the fact it included the flying around the map portion similar to Budokai 3’s story mode, better combos, the list goes on. I grew up on the OG budokai games but when Tenkaichi 2 released, it and 3 automatically made me prefer the Tenkaichi series over Budokai because it felt more like a Dragon Ball game whereas Budokai was more so a fighting game with Dragon Ball elements. Even tho Tenkaichi one was nothing compared to the sequels, it really does deserve more credit because it was the blueprint for what would become one of the best DB games and Spike took that blueprint and went all out with it in the sequels, even the little attention to details like the Spirit Bomb forming in the sky when using “Give Me Energy”, the androids not being able to power up but also not being able to be drained of Ki/HP and also being harder to lock onto, etc was really impressive for a PS2 game. That alone makes me know that Sparking Zero is gonna be even crazier with the vast advancement in the systems now compared to the PS2 era!
39:48 Yeah, when you mentioned that Tenkaichi 1 didn't have battle items at first I was like "Wait, yes it did" But I was probably thinking about Tenkaichi 2 and 3, lol
Really great video ! Just a little correction to make, the full Ginyu Force was playable in Dragon Ball Z: Idainaru Densetsu/The Legend, which in many ways is a proto-Budokai Tenkaichi, though that game only released in Japan and Europe
Aside from the few American-made Dragon Ball games (Sagas, LoG1&2/Buu’s Fury, CCG, Taiketsu, Transformation) Atari had nothing to do with the development process of the rest of the Japanese-developed games. They were simply license holders for US distribution. Bandai has held the rights and ultimate say on video games in the franchise since the 80’s which it returned to the doing worldwide in 2009.
Great video, but just one suggestion. If you make this a fixed video, with just stereo sound, you'd be racking in more views. Cause if the average viewers checks their audio and it's not from them, they're most likely going to close this video. That's just my opinion. Maybe one day you might reflect on that, but you do you, bro.
Hey! I never broke my TV playing Wii Sports. Some other guy broke the student lounge TV playing Super Monkey Ball sports. Although it was my Wii remote that he did it with.
This video is ridiculously well edited considering the length. I was expecting a channel with at least 50k subs when I was watching, and then I realized you have less than 1k. I hope you keep going, this video is great on a niche subject. I would maybe suggest simplifying the editing since most people don't watch, only hear, these long ass videos. I would rather have more content than more well edited content when it comes to these long video essays. Conversely, if you really wanna flex your editing skills, shorter videos that have more condensed information? Anyway, hope you keep going!
To me a proper fighting game is a game where you can escape an enemy combo almost anytime. DBZ BT3 may be the only such game I know, it's probably the reason I don't like pretty much all fighting games. I miss the times when games didn't have a small dodge meter
I wouldn't take the english commercials as evidence of cut content. The one comment is a bit interesting. But to truely know something like rbat we'd have to find that early build
Apologies for the audio issues! strangely parts only play through the left channel or have weird mixing.
Listening in mono setting and turning on captions will help, either way I do hope you understand how amazing the team behind Tenkaichi is!
1 fix i found if the viewers have to enable mono audio in their windows settings
Thanks man I’ll update the pinned comment
The music overpowers your voice for a large portion of the video. Really had to listen closely
"parts" is putting it lightly. im about halfway through the video and almost all the voiceover has been left channel only.
making me do extra shit to watch ur vid oh hell naw
"And then for the next one, we thought people wouldn't be impressed if we marginally increased the roster. So we went for a minimum roster of 120 characters. *We really felt like we havd to surpass the players' expectations.*"
Wow.
Wish devs still thought this way
EDIT: being wrong is FUN
This is like a documentary. Just now showed up on my home page. Well done!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it !
Hope to see more videos from you
used to play BT3 with my friends all the time. it was so fun doing team battles with all random characters and seeing who we got throughout the fight
Agree!
Thanks gonna check those videos out next.

I like Fighter Z but always felt this 3D area style fit Dragonball best.
This is very well-edited. How does it not have more views!?
- quantity over quality
- low following (sharing, liking the video is a huge help)
- algorithm bias recommendation
- first come first views
- long video . A lor people are becoming CDD thanks to shorts and tiktok
I just noticed the view count, I've watched this multiple times for research purposes. I wouldn't thought it would've had a few million😂
Because the dragon ball community is dead on youtube
Cause he says stuff like "What do you think of when someone says 'tenkaichi'?"
The video has an absurd amount of filler
With sparking zero coming out its likely to get more
Ryo Mito's face was priceless when that woman kept struggling to pronounce Budokai Tenkaichi when the name he decided for the game in his country was already in english
Great video bro! I’ve never looked at the first tenkaichi in this way.
Holy SHIT, the editing in this is *insane*!! Incredible video, very entertaining, well structured, and super engaging thanks to the great editing!
Your editing literally inspired me to finish a video I've sat on for months. Keep up the great work brother💪
Love reading comments like this, happy to have had a small positive impact for you to make something!
Bro, this video is amazing! You explained tenkaichi in such a fun and entertaining way that I was hooked from the start. There’s so much to this gaming series isn’t there, I like your idea of reviewing mods haha. That definitely might be something you see on this channel at some point
@@7thVision If you need any help, just hmu!
The chi-chi roasting was so on point; it's one to one the type of out of pocket lines middle aged women be casually dropping, but in the DBZ world.
Thank you for your comment and idea. A few people have mentioned this too so might be worth doing in the future
Absolutely phenomenal retrospective.
Just got this recommended this video and I enjoyed every second of it. Definitely deserves more views
the most underrated video out right now the editing is insane
Thanks man, maybe one day this video will be seen by more folks who like the Tenkaichi series!
Really really impressive video, well researched, super entertaining, something ive been wishing for, for quite a while and the quality is something i would expect from a channel with tens of thousands of subscribers minimum! Well done man
Much appreciated man
I hope someone from bandai namco is watching your video
Keep it up bro well done
Maybe one day! Thank you for your comment 🙇🏽♂️
This is so insanely well edited, in depth, and funny. It’s borderline criminal that this doesn’t have more views.
I love the BT games (specially 2). However, I do think my favorite is still Infinite World (Budokai 4). its pretty cute that in the little scouter promo, they take care to have goku say "I've never had a use for these things".
This one had me engaged through the whole run, nice video man. Here's to hoping Sparking Zeros release gets you some more traffic
Amazing documentary on the Tenkaichi series congrats to you 7th vision for making this! I have to share my personal view on this series although i have to say i cant recall everything its been too long. Astounding documentary, i absolutely loved this
I sure hope Ryo Mito is involved with Dragonball Sparking Zero. Ah, the GameCube version of Budokai 1 is beautiful. This was extremely well done. Subscribed.
Good video from such a small channel
Great job on the video man, loved this series of games as a kid and still love it today.
Your channel deserves more subscribers! This was a fantastically crafted video, thank you
Edit: I got to the end of the video and next time, I'll be on the look out for your cat!
I enjoyed every second of that, thank you, subscribed.
You deserve more views and likes for this! The DB community will blow this up especially since the new sparking Zero is coming !
Bro you need a million subscribers, this video is fire
this video is incredible holy shit
Nice video man. I attest that you are underrated.
Wow, I just looked to see you other videos, and saw his channel is relatively new. Damn good job/video 😳.
If this was “your” first video… 😳 god damn! Really really really well done! Keep it up! And thank you for the trip 😁
Nice work. Really enjoyed this and i like your style. Hope you give the competitive Tenkaichi scene a video also 👍👍
Thank you! Plans for a dive into the competitive scene is on the way, might be some time before it happens though
Great video man, really well done fun to watch
This video is really awesome and a huge nostalgia trip for dragon ball budokai tenkaichi fans, the video editing is very good! HOWEVER man, I don't know ehat happened with the audio editing.
Sometimes it is only on the left audio channel which makes listening through speakers or headphones a huge pain unless you turn on mono audio, in some parts of the video the music covers up the voice which makes following what is being said quite difficult and the volume mixing is also all over the place, with the script being pretty quite while sound effects blast you.
Hope it gets reuploaded with these issues fixed!
Loved watching this ! Thanks for making a detailed analysis of the games - brings back memories
Thank you so much for watching! Spent a lot of time making this, glad you enjoyed
How does this not have more views???? ?
so far really enjoying this video, but the music is a bit loud and makes it harder to hear you, like around the 27 minute mark for example
Amazing, lost for words 😭😭😭😭
i didn’t even notice this was a small channel with how high quality all of this was
Thank you for all the effort you put in the video.
I noticed a conspicuous omission of Ultimate Tenkaichi..... Mission Passed: Respect +
Love this editing
Fantastic video essay right here. Happy it popped up in my recommended. Thank you for sharing with us viewers this!!!! ❤ also…😼😼😼
Thank you for watching !
Very amazing video and deep look into the games I love thank you

- Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games except of Dragon Ball Z Evolution are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.🤷🏻♂️☯️✌️
Really well done video! It hope it catches up more views once Tenkaichi 4 trailers start appearing
For me personally I love budokai tenkaichi 2 the most the Roster, OST's and the story plus I love the combat system it's imo peak of dragon ball translated into the games and I still play it to this day
The aura in tenlaichi 1 looked the best especialy rushes
Thank you for the added respect points and this enjoyable video!
Cool. I did play all of them as a kid. I also did not know about the items in two. Probably because I spent more time in 3.
I love you for this
I thought this comment was great haha
Absolutely criminal only 100 subs and 1.6 k views
This gem just appeared on my page after 7 months. Thank you for putting in so much time and effort!
How does this not have any views???????? This is so well edited bruh
Great analysis!

Yeah, when you mentioned that Tenkaichi 1 didn't have battle items at first I was like "Wait, yes it did"
But I was probably thinking about Tenkaichi 2 and 3, lol
This was beautiful. I absolutely cannot wait for sparking zero
Impressive video :D Bardock is such a clever scientist!
Really great video !
Just a little correction to make, the full Ginyu Force was playable in Dragon Ball Z: Idainaru Densetsu/The Legend, which in many ways is a proto-Budokai Tenkaichi, though that game only released in Japan and Europe
Ah didn't know that!
I'll update the description with this correction, glad you enjoyed the video
Aside from the few American-made Dragon Ball games (Sagas, LoG1&2/Buu’s Fury, CCG, Taiketsu, Transformation) Atari had nothing to do with the development process of the rest of the Japanese-developed games. They were simply license holders for US distribution. Bandai has held the rights and ultimate say on video games in the franchise since the 80’s which it returned to the doing worldwide in 2009.
Ah I didn’t know that! Thanks for highlighting this. If you have a source I’ll update the description with corrections, just need to confirm first
Great video, but just one suggestion.
If you make this a fixed video, with just stereo sound, you'd be racking in more views.
Cause if the average viewers checks their audio and it's not from them, they're most likely going to close this video.
That's just my opinion. Maybe one day you might reflect on that, but you do you, bro.
Amazing edits❤
I remember BT 2 having colorful dragon balls
Great Video can’t wait to play the newest installment later on this year❤❤
Hey! I never broke my TV playing Wii Sports.
Some other guy broke the student lounge TV playing Super Monkey Ball sports. Although it was my Wii remote that he did it with.
AMAZING video
This video is ridiculously well edited considering the length. I was expecting a channel with at least 50k subs when I was watching, and then I realized you have less than 1k. I hope you keep going, this video is great on a niche subject. I would maybe suggest simplifying the editing since most people don't watch, only hear, these long ass videos. I would rather have more content than more well edited content when it comes to these long video essays. Conversely, if you really wanna flex your editing skills, shorter videos that have more condensed information? Anyway, hope you keep going!
Underrated, u deserve more subs fo sho
To me a proper fighting game is a game where you can escape an enemy combo almost anytime. DBZ BT3 may be the only such game I know, it's probably the reason I don't like pretty much all fighting games. I miss the times when games didn't have a small dodge meter
I always only have my right headphone on, was very confused about why there was no talking lol
Sorry my guy, had some audio issues on the export.
Hope you still enjoyed the video despite that
I sat through the whole thing
all this time up until like 2 years ago i never knew that these games were NEVER on Xbox too. we really were lucky as Playstation kids 😂
Pickle man is my favourite
AYO! i also watched omega in early 2006! I was freaking 12 at the time 😂
I wouldn't take the english commercials as evidence of cut content. The one comment is a bit interesting. But to truely know something like rbat we'd have to find that early build
Itd be cool if you did vids about other vehicles in this format
love this
