I agree. They did talk about reconciliations with other bands, and idk, they could have spent 6 seconds saying they admitted what happened with Jason and all is good now.
I always hate when people fight. Off topic but it reminds me of that one time in 2004 we were moving out and my dad was fighting with one of the workers.
yes... poor guy. I remember seeing the Allman Brothers around 1981 and the opening act was The Joe Perry Project. He got zero applause. One of the guys in my fraternity remarked that it sounded like he was playing his guitar with a Brillo pad. Tyler does seem like a jerk, but no one is a bigger jerk than Liam Gallagher.
A former bandmate of Tyler's once told Joey Kramer (before the founding of Aerosmith): 'Never be in a band with Steven Tyler. He's such a control freak he'll even tell you how to brush your teeth!'
@@kenterminateddq5311All I know is that Collins wasn't a fan of Gabriel dressing up in costumes all the time. He felt it took the attention away from the music and put the focus on Gabriel instead of the whole band. They also had different tastes in music, as shown by the different musical styles when each lead Genesis.
This is why I always caution those who tell me they want to be a rockstar. It doesn’t matter how good of friends you are in the beginning, fame and money change things, greed takes hold, and egos get out of control. When you have people in your ear constantly telling you that you’re the reason the band is successful, sooner or later you’re going to start believing it. And that will eventually boil over on other band members. Add that to the pressure from label execs to constantly sell more albums, being away from home for months (or sometimes years) at a time, friends, family and con artists trying to scam money out of you, and never having any privacy…and you’ve got a pressure cooker ready to explode. There are maybe a handful of successful bands in existence that still have their original members, and those members are actually friends. Green Day and U2 are the only two examples I can think of.
True, it is a recipe for trouble. All bands have squabbles that they manage to just shrug off and move on from. But when you become successful, and the stakes get so much higher, the squabbles get MUCH bigger. Especially since there's always that one guy... The guy who is sure this is HIS band. The guy with the bad temper. The guy who doesn't want to hear your ideas. The guy who drinks too much. The guy who decides he's in charge. THAT guy. In most of the examples on the list, one of the guys is THAT guy. Eddie Van Halen. Axl Rose. Billie Corgan. Roger Waters. These are all famously a-holes. So these aren't really feuds in many cases, lol, it's the a-hole and the guy who decided he was done rolling over for it.
Despite getting along for a brief period in both 1970 and 1984, the constant clashing between Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan deserved to make this list
@@rafaelmazzoleni3233 maybe, they only began to clash around 77/78 though, they got along well up until that point. You could apply that to literally anyone else in Rainbow though 😂
Roger Waters and David Gilmour, it got worse as the years went by, up until that "Animals" tour , David called Roger an egomaniac and a psychopath. I've heard they've buried the hatchet as of late.
True, Peter did want out but their biggest frustration was that they couldn't be the band they wanted and could have been. Mike and Pete didn't have a good relationship but, they were basically from 2 different backgrounds. However, that didn't stop them from fighting with the higher ups to gain more musical freedom. When Peter died, Mike couldn't speak about Peter without breaking down. He said, he loved Pete, he was his brother. Really makes me wonder how much of what you say, is just exaggerated for more clicks
Yeah, they left out the part where Peter, Mikey and Davey would continue touring together in the 80's and 90's with Mike sometimes making a special appearance every now and then. They also did a reunion special on ABC in 97 so they were all still clearly friends.
They may not have liked each other but they both knew they could earn a fortune if they put up with each other. The same goes for quite a few of these groups in this list, nobody is going to kill the goose while it's laying eggs.
Styx could have been on the list as an honorable mention. Just about everyone in the band had an issue with Dennis DeYoung at some point They didn't like the musical direction Dennis was taking them, but the band doesn't seem to have a problem playing the music today that Dennis wrote back then.
The Beatles come to mind. It's known that George Harrison quit the band for two weeks before they officially broke up. And John & Paul had their spats with each other.
I once joked with the guitarist of my now defunct late teens/early 20s band that the reason we did not achieve success is because we all got along pretty fine and still do.
@@markhunter8554 yes of course, one time Brian was skeptical Bohemian Rhapsody won't work, after we were rejected by a record label Brian turn to me and said, "well, it was your Big idea to put out such a long song". I said "patience, dear, patience, someone would hear us out".
I Always felt sorry for Fray of the Eagles. That documentary where he says he just misses playing with his friends and then cuts the interview short cos he was on the verge of tears... I felt bad for him.
I'm afraid Mojo mucked up the Eagles segment. It wasn't just Frey and Felder, but also Frey and Leadon, Henley and Frey vs Meisner, an, of course, Henley and Frey. Oh Nelly! That's a lot of cocaine!
Literally as I got to number 15 on the list, I wondered if Fleetwood Mac would appear on this list. Boy was I right! Not only that but I am also shocked and stunned by how turbulent the relationships among the band members were. It’s also a shame that Nicks and Buckingham got into a physical altercation with one another, resulting in Lindsay Buckingham leaving the band. I had a feeling, but the extent was more than I expected 😫🤔
The Monkees story definitely did not end in the 60s. Davy Jones once said The Monkees were like the mafia...sooner or later you always come back. In the 70s, Micky and Davy toured with songwriters Boyce and Hart, though not under the Monkee name. The 80s saw an official and very popular reunion tour coupled with a less popular new album (Pool It!) With Micky, Davy and Peter. The 90s saw a full reunion with a new album and Monkees "episode", but unfortunately before the US tour Mike dropped out due to issues with Davy during the UK tour. Davy, Micky and Peter toured some in the 00s, but at one point Peter was kicked out. In 2011 all four were in talks for a 50th anniversary tour, but Mike at the time couldn't play guitar, but was open to a tour the next year as a 50th anniversary of the album Headquarters. Unfortunately, that February, Davy died. The other three continued with the reunion and even released another album in 2016 which became their first top 20 album since 1968. Peter continued to tour with them until his health prevented it, then he died in 2019. Mike and Micky released a tour album in 2020. Mike died in 2021 as an active Monkee having just finished a tour weeks prior and having future dates scheduled. Anyway, the point is The Monkees story didn’t end in 1968. I realize there are 19 other bands to get to, but post 1968 could've been glossed over with a sentence or two instead of ignored.
Probably , here in Sydney Australia I don't know much about it . Mick Jagger is a known bisexual ( not that , that matters ) & had group sex with David Bowie who was later reported after his death to of raped a child from his audience ( backstage ) on two separate occasions . Not saying it necessarily is the case with Jagger though Mick MAY have committed sexual inappropriate behaviour . 🤷♑️✍️🇳🇴🇦🇺
@@Friendship1nmillion Bowie definitely didn't rape a child, he has been accused of sleeping with a minor, but it has been disproven and the person who said it seems mentally ill to me, I wouldn't believe anything she says
I’m a huge Metallica fan always have been and love all the members especially James but I don’t forgive how they treated Jason. Jason was a driving force on stage and was amazing. I get it he’s not Cliff but he deserved much better
For extra back story to the Blink 182 reunion. Marcus Hopper of the band recently survived cancer, but it was that along with the Drummer Travis almost died in a plane crash. This is part of what brought Tom back to the band. After these events he revaluated everything and had a shift is perspective
Journey is an interesting case because Steve Perry was kinda "pushed" into Journey by the record label. The band didn't even want him because they viewed him as a "crooner". Having said that, I get the impression Steve was able to cement himself somewhat with his compositional talents, since he had good song-writing chemistry with Neal. Although if reports are to be believed, Steve started taking more control over the band in the mid 80s and apparently caused friction with the rest of the band members, but Steve found the touring life too difficult and decided to call it quits. They reformed a decade later, released a new album, but then Steve ended up injuring his hip - but apparently he refused to get a hip replacement so he could start touring. They waited for a year and a half for him to make up his mind on if he'd have the surgery, but then said if he didn't do it, they'd continue without him. Steve got upset, quit the band. He later said that he never felt like part of the band, but I wonder if it's because he felt like his contribution was what made the band "Journey". It's obvious from interviews he felt at the time he was a core part of the bands identity. He said he wanted them to leave the Journey name alone if he wasn't involved and I doubt he likes that the band tours without him, with what is literally a tribute vocalist. Granted, Journey WAS a band before Steve came along but then... they're copying the "Perry years". I do feel bad for Steve because I feel like the bands actions have proven Steve right. If Journey had tried to gain a new identity with a new singer, I'd have felt differently, but they're clearly reliving the Perry years without him. Anything they did before he joined is ignored. I think it's a bit disrespectful to continue a band in that way when the core member that gave them that identity isn't exactly giving his blessing for it.
Steve Perry fired Ross Valory and Steve Smith for no reason. He replaced them with studio musicians. Schon and Caine went along with it to keep Perry, but he left anyway.
I still have some hope that Noel and Liam will finally get over their egos, behave like adults and come back to give the world what it desperately needs❤
Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey certainly belong on that list. According to Time Magazine, one time, during a recording session, Pete broke a guitar over Roger's head. Roger responded by punching Pete into the hospital
Yep. Their behavior is legendary in fact. Also Ray Davies and Dave Davies of The Kinks and the Gallagher brothers of Oasis but I think that’s on a “siblings of rock who hate each other” videos.
Yea. Making excellent musical hits, a certain sound selling millions of records whatever. Fate bringing the people involved together is almost magic. The flip side of that is that they are indeed people. People dont always get along. Thats just the way it is.
Killing Joke: Although the original lineup has been stable and harmonious since 2008, the band began fracturing during their second album and had a revolving-door membership that at one point included the rest the band quitting out from under frontman Jaz Coleman and forming a band with each other. The death of bassist Paul Raven led to a reconciliation between the original members, and they've released numerous albums and tours over the last 15 years.
I would actually class them as the opposite of this list.Jaz and Walker were together for the entirety of the band. Raven only left briefly and Youth was off having a successful career as a producer but was still in and out of the band and various points... but there was never any real animosity between members like those on this list who basically couldn't stand to be around each other to downright despising each other.
Mike Love’s issue was with Dennis not Brian - and it lasted for years from when they were boys. Dennis actually had a relationship with Mike’s step daughter and the two of them fought physically - viciously - over many years. Brian was very gentle. Also, Roger Waters vs David Gilmour is definitely a thoroughly poisonous relationship - Waters’ ego is of course enormous.
It's funny how everyone forgets that the monkees tanked head on purpose so they could break up Rhe problem the monkees had was not so much with each other but with the recording studio
The Davies brothers really make you wonder why they decided to make music together in the first place but man am I glad they did. Though Lola and You Really Got Me are probably their biggest songs Yes Sir, No Sir is just pure gold. Easily one of my top 5 favorite songs ever. I'll never understand why Arthur and especially Village Green didn't do well. They should be up there with the Beetles and Rolling Stones when talking about great British rock bands. I think their US ban is probably one of the biggest reasons for this. I could go on for hours so I'll just stop here lol
Ray Davies is a really nice man., he actually invited me to come over once at his apt on W 72nd street after a Kinks concert at the Beacon theater. Even if he fought with Dave he still loves him.
Honestly I feel like you really can’t blame bandmates for hating each other. Just being in a band is a pain in the fricken ass alone. You gotta deal with members not showing up to practice, creative differences, varying skill levels, lack of preparation, ego-battles, etc. etc. etc. I’ve only ever found one person in my entire music career that I actually meld with. And it’s funny because she and I are like night-and-day complete opposite humans. But when we practice and perform together, it’s like a match made in heaven. But after years of doing music, that one single person is really it. You could play music with your absolute best friend and there’s still a chance that things will go horribly wrong. Bands are tough. I honestly have the utmost respect for a lot of the bands on this list that still managed to keep it going and make legendary sounds despite the tensions.
Interesting honorable mentions: 1. Johnny Marr & Morrissey (The Smiths) 2. Bernard Sumner & Peter Hook (New Order) 3. Alan Wilder & Andy Fletcher (Depeche Mode)
Also, I saw The Monkees in the 2000s, with Davy, Mickey, and Peter. They were both hilarious and played very well. I'm glad they were able to reconcile.
If the members of the Monkees hated anyone it was Raybert Productions and ScreenGems; who held their contracts and produced the show and music. They felt they were misled about what the show was going to be. They went to auditions thinking they were to be in a band and found themselves instead turned into a bunch of discount Marx Brothers.
You guys missed a few other band members who "hated" each other: 1. Rodger Daltry & Pete Townsend - The Who. 2. Rich Robinson & Chris Robinson- The Black Crowes. 3. Dave Mustaine & David Elefson- Megadeth. 4. Ronnie James Dio& Ritchie Blackmore- Rainbow. 5. Michael Schenker & Rudolph Schenker - Scorpions.
Missing on this list are Mark and David Knopfler. David left Dire Straits (or maybe he was kicked out) after the first two albums and, if my information is correct, has never spoken with Mark since then.
How about Cream's Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker? Surprised they weren't included but I guess that is commonplace that a lot of bandmates in successful groups don't or never ger along with each other.
Mark Lanagan and the Connor twins from the Screaming Trees, not much love lost there. Mark left and later on wrote a book entitled walk Backwards and Weep, it's all in the book, a good read, can be found online.
I thought James Young didn’t like him either. I remember reading something along the lines of Tommy doesn’t like working with Dennis, James doesn’t like Dennis.
@@mikeychrisanthus9948 In an interview with James Young, he said they'd tour with Dennis again "when hell froze over" but more recently, it seemed as though it was more Tommy's doing than his (James').
Some more examples: Sting vs Stewart Copeland, Ian Gillan vs Ritchie Blackmore, Mark knopfler vs David Knopfler. Robert Fripp vs almost every King Crimson member.
I completely disagree with #13, Steve Perry.... it should be Neil Schon vs Everyone else. Schon was the reason Perry quit the band. Perry needed surgery from an injury in Hawaii and Schon thought Perry should wait till after their tour to do it. Perry refused and that was it. Schon has also run off Steve Smith, and Ross Vallory. Most recently Schon and Jonathan Cain were involved in a lawsuit against each other over Journey band rights, Schon's spending sprees and general issues. And years ago Schon ran off Greg Rollie. All that remains is the Neil Schon Tribute band, with Cain, but the rest are all fill-ins. Perry took the band n to new financial and mainstream heights, which no other band member could.
I heard an interview with Art Garfunkel where he disputed that he and Paul Simon "hated" eacg other. He said that it was more that they move in different circles and have different interests. The only thing they have in common is music, so they don't see each other much outside of "work" but they respect each other's music abilities.
You forget about Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. They hated each other, yet worked together in two bands. The first was called The Graham Bond Organization, they didn't have much success but did introduce the use of the melotron in rock music. Baker and Bruce would later join Eric Clapton to form Cream, but Bruce and Baker still couldn't get along. Clapton said that sometimes he would just stop playing and those two were to intent of one-upping each other on stage that they didn't notice. They would sabotage each others instruments, purposefully screw up live shows and at one point Baker tried to stab Bruce. Now that's Rock and Roll.

That’s why the narrator said in the intro of the video “it don’t matter if they reconciled, just as long as they had a rivalry within the band…”
@@2Sweaterz1 I know, the narrator also pointed out those who reconciled already, and she didn't mention them so I did.
I agree. They did talk about reconciliations with other bands, and idk, they could have spent 6 seconds saying they admitted what happened with Jason and all is good now.
I’m just wondering why they hired him in the first place, if they didn’t like his playing.
I always hate when people fight. Off topic but it reminds me of that one time in 2004 we were moving out and my dad was fighting with one of the workers.
Could you imagine having to deal with Steven Tyler day to day Joe Perry Deserves a medal.
yes...

Totally agree. I feel the entire entry about The Monkees is misleading at best.
Yeah, the Monkees shouldn't be on this list. Their issues weren't really with each other to any great extent.
Thank you for this. I agree.
Yeah, they left out the part where Peter, Mikey and Davey would continue touring together in the 80's and 90's with Mike sometimes making a special appearance every now and then. They also did a reunion special on ABC in 97 so they were all still clearly friends.
Nesmith soften his attitude towards the others as years passed
Paul Simon and Art Gurfunkel wow, hate each other's guts but produce lots of masterpiece and is hand-down the greatest duo ever.
They may not have liked each other but they both knew they could earn a fortune if they put up with each other. The same goes for quite a few of these groups in this list, nobody is going to kill the goose while it's laying eggs.

The Ramones Johnny and Joey hated each for 2 decades but somehow manage to work together in the band

Styx could have been on the list as an honorable mention. Just about everyone in the band had an issue with Dennis DeYoung at some point They didn't like the musical direction Dennis was taking them, but the band doesn't seem to have a problem playing the music today that Dennis wrote back then.
They kicked Dennis out of the band. Made up, took him back, then he is able to push the Killroy album no one else wanted on them.

The Davies Bros hated each other but remember they played live together as the Kinks for 29 years!

Keith was 100% right about Jagger's knighthood
Probably , here in Sydney Australia I don't know much about it . Mick Jagger is a known bisexual ( not that , that matters ) & had group sex with David Bowie who was later reported after his death to of raped a child from his audience ( backstage ) on two separate occasions . I’m a huge Metallica fan always have been and love all the members especially James but I don’t forgive how they treated Jason. Jason was a driving force on stage and was amazing. I get it he’s not Cliff but he deserved much better
I've always felt that being in a band together seemed like one of the quickest ways to ruin a friendship.
There’s a new SML video that kinda deals with this problem.
Like starting out rooming with your best friend.
Or a sibling relationship.
For extra back story to the Blink 182 reunion. Marcus Hopper of the band recently survived cancer, but it was that along with the Drummer Travis almost died in a plane crash. This is part of what brought Tom back to the band. After these events he revaluated everything and had a shift is perspective
Didn’t Tom get abducted by aliens who told him to rejoin the band or there would be more anal probing in his future?
Arnel is nothing more than an impersonator of Steve Perry. Like a parrot he just mimics Steve Perry!

That was epic. In both a good and bad way.
Roger has always been know as a guy not to be messed with, especially when he was young. He KO'd Keith Moon too
John and Tom Fogerty also did not get along, and eventually Tom quit the group.
Oh, and then he died.

If the members of the Monkees hated anyone it was Raybert Productions and ScreenGems; who held their contracts and produced the show and music.
I can totally relate with Axl, Slash was literally standing on his piano with his boots on! Greetings from Slovakia GNfR!
