Not necessarily. How many cast members has the show had over the years? And it seems like it's the same handful of people who have issues. Chris Kattan was mentioned a couple times, norm Mcdonald.
Caddyshack was almost not filmed due to Chevy's still hatred of Bill Murray. That one scene they filmed together, the director mentioned in a BTS video here on TH-cam, that it was quite tense filming that scene. Also Chevy's feud with Richard Pryor.
Belushi later realized while watching SNL reruns that Jane Curtain was very good. He said it to his wife. Also, Jane and he were friends before the show had even started. The success changed him.
The Feud between Morgan and Fallon isn't over because there never was one. Morgan, justifiably, asked Fallon to stop breaking in sketches they were both in. Fallon complied, giving some credence to Morgan's contention that Fallon could control his breaking. But Tracy also mentioned that he had nothing but love for his cast-mate...unlike his words for Kattan and Oteri.
Okay, so since I’ve seen a bunch of people commenting about Chevy vs RDJ, apparently he said “Didn’t your father used to be a successful director? Whatever happened to him? Boy, he sure died, you know. He sure went to hell.” according to Terry Sweeney. I’m guessing it’s referencing Downey Sr’s film career dying and him moving on to directing episodes of TV here and there in the 80s.

They did not want to get cancelled with off the hook curse words or inappropriate humor, which is why they always have a pre-show to tighten things up and remove skits that go badly.
The Adrien Brody and Sinnead O'Conner debacles are why the no-improv rule exists. It's one thing for hosts to go off the cuff, they just don't get invited back. But cast members can end up costing the show in FCC fines if someone goes too far.
I thought Nora Dunn asked to be released from her contract (or what it Jan Hooks) 10:06 hopefully they will I mean if Myers and Carvey can make up anything is possible 8 oh it ain't just on SNL these days 2 and the Muppets
While I have heard Norm McDonald also tell the story of his firing being similar to whats in this video, I tend to believe it had more to do with his style of comedy than jabs at O.J.. He made those jabs up until his last day as 'Weekend Update' host and then was still on the show for several weeks after that. In fact, Colin Quin, who took over for Norm on 'WU', made several O.J. jokes as well and remained on the show and was even given a 'WU' intro to do small amounts of stand up jokes. I think the real reason he was fired was simply because he was viewed as "not funny" unless he was doing imitations of Bob Dole. Of course, Norm was hilarious and they knew they made a mistake and apologized by having him host years later. But the O.J. excuse was overblown in my opinion.
How can you have a strict no improv rule on a sketch comedy show preformed in front a live audience? Some of the best skits were when they break character or laugh imagine if they had a little leeway with the skit.
Lorne hates when they break, but audiences love it for some reason. It makes the sketch about that performer, and it can ruin the timing of the whole thing. Improv on a LIVE show is risky. You don't know what will work, what won't, and what will get the show or the network in trouble
It seems like Norm actually thought Kattan was pretty funny. I’m sure there were plenty of things he didn’t exactly like about him, but Norm seems to get a kick out of him.
(re: Al Franken) The entire cast Did Not leave at the end of the first season! Who writes this stuff!? And Franken stuck around for five more years, left, then came back a few years later.
I like how on tv tropes, the Andrew Dice Clay episode is a base breaker, yet, people don't remember the sketches IN that episode. They only know because Nora Dunn spoke against him, knowing that she wasn't going to be asked back. ADC didn't even want to host the show because of burn out but his Dad begged him to.
victoria jackson: NEVER FUNNY and insane. CHRIS KATTAN: will always love him, he deserves more credit. CHEVY CHASE: I don't know his off screen behavior, but a true comedic genius!
Yeah, no, you're wrong, the roxbury sketches were popular especially the jim carrey one, and the movie is a cult classic. Dont claim to speak for others when you are nothing but a fake authority
No, I would think a cast member from your old show that you helped shape in your era make a dig. And from all people David Spade? It was a bullsht move on Spades part.
David Spade made the comment because Eddie had changed his movies and roles to shows that he could take his children to. Some were just not funny. David Spade is not much and not at level of funny as Eddie Murphy so Eddie is right to take him on
I'm posting as I watch this, so I'm going to say the winners are: 20) Al Franken. Sorry...Senator Al Franken 19) Oscar winner Adam McKay 18) Tough one, I'm going to say no winners, except maybe Dice, who reinvented himself later 17) I'll say Sweeney, since she ended up having a career that she actually enjoyed post-SNL 16) Hm...being President should make Trump the winner, but Michaels wrote 3 Amigos. I don't see anybody smashing Michaels gravestone, so I'll say him. It's close, though. Alec Baldwin's impression of him is awful, though. Just stop doing political sketches. It's fine. 15) Damon Wayans. His characters were iffy at the time and extremely out of date now, but In Living Color was a huge deal and he and Jim Carrey were the two biggest faces of it. 14) Pete Davidson, easy. Seven more seasons, has a new show on Peacock, does indies like Bodies Bodies Bodies and big movies like Fast X and Transformers. 13) Norm MacDonald is a legend and your winner. 12) I know he's been in a lot of great things, but Chevy Chase is one of those guys who sunk too deeply into his status as "legend". Anybody who says, "I don't care what people think about me," does it because they know that they're despicable and will spend the rest of their lives rationalizing why it was okay to be a terrible person. I'll give this one to the cast members of both SNL and Community. Also Bill Murray, who decked him. 11) Michaels. Easy. Seagal is hilarious for all the wrong reason, but let me make clear: he is hilarious. I can't think of anybody besides him and Paris Hilton where cast/writers openly said that they were the worst host. 10) Will Ferrell. Duh. 9) Jimmy Fallon might have gotten the Tonight Show for...some reason, but Tracy Morgan was absolutely right. I've written sketches that people have upended by making it all about themselves and it's a really crappy feeling. It feels like a personal dig and it's incredibly disrespectful. 8) Kristen Chenoweth and Stephen Colbert also have deep religious faith and don't demand that everybody be like them the way Jackson and Kirk Cameron do, which is why Chenoweth and Colbert are still working and well-liked and Jackson and Cameron only get very small pond gigs. By the way, F anybody who criticizes her voice, because Kristen Schaal is the same way and she's one of the most respected people in comedy. I'll give this to everybody. 7) Kanye's people need to step in to prevent him from getting ripped off by people like Candace Owens, so I'll giving it to the backstage crew, who people are not sick of. 6) David Spade told a two second joke that he didn't write and Murphy's peak was behind him and wouldn't get better. I'll give this one to Spade. 5) I've heard a bit from Morgan's audiobook. What he said about them wasn't in the pages and he just goes off on them, also saying that Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon were really gracious. Since we only see Kattan and Oteri playing SNL-type characters, this one's going to Morgan. 4) They hashed it out, so both. 3) Norm. Norm-na-Norm-Norm-Norm. Norm. 2) Hmm...Belushi's a legend, but it's hard to tell what would've happened if he hadn't died. Inconclusive. 1) See #12. Also, they're wrong not to include Tina Fey vs Paris Hilton, which I would absolutely give to Fey.
What about Lorne Michaels and NBC Network executives. He was in constant arguments with them in first 5 years of the show. Skits getting rejected by NBC having writers redo Skits because they were too much for Execs. By end of 1979-1980 season Lorne Michaels was going to stop doing the show and quit or take it somewhere else. He left as head of the show and the following 3 1/2 years were the worst ever shows the new head of SNL bowed to NBC Heads and made softer, pg and g rated skits. Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscapo are who kept the show worth watching.
Breuer seems even more incredibly unfunny now. I can't take listening to his stuff. It's absolutely terrible. Something always seemed sort of empty about his jokes, though his Joe Pesci and stuff wasn't bad.
@@moappleseider1699 Naw, naw, it would be the big smooth over. The old "talkin' trash and then they appear over your shoulder and the audience goes batshit" deal. Been done plenty of times. But, yeah, I can see Farley getting his back up. Sandler I'd think is a tick more cerebral🙂

I thought Nora Dunn asked to be released from her contract (or what it Jan Hooks)
10:06 hopefully they will I mean if Myers and Carvey can make up anything is possible
8 oh it ain't just on SNL these days
2 and the Muppets
They wanted to axe Jim Downey, Norm said he wouldn’t do the show without him. Jim talks about it on Conan Needs a Friend
There’s a whole book about SNL and there are hundreds of stories in there about people on the show who despised each other.
It's a fun read
Pat didn't age well...🤦
There’s a video where someone made trans/non-binary people watch It’s Pat, and holy shit what a video.
(I can’t believe that movie got made.)
How is Norm McDonald 13?! That should be. Top 3
Yessss!!!
#1 wow I just realized yah in the video bill just walks in the background to wave and left, he definitely hated him
**Chevy Chase vs all of Hollywood
I can NOT believe that Pat sketch was made into a movie! Smh
It was stupid but funny. What was better was when Al Franken made that Stuart Smalley movie based on his character from SNL.
Poor Chevy Chase, he didn't exactly age well.
"Don't do that with your head! That is so dumb!!" Wow, how times have changed.
2:59-3:11 - But…Victoria Jackson _does_ support homophobia. Have you read her interviews in recent years?
How can you have a strict no improv rule on a sketch comedy show preformed in front a live audience? Some of the best skits were when they break character or laugh imagine if they had a little leeway with the skit.
Probably because its a cut throat show for the cast members. Imagine all those egos trying to one up each other. The rule is necessary
I’m sure there were plenty of things he didn’t exactly like about him, but Norm seems to get a kick out of him.
what a bunch of Divas.
Eddie Murphy has made more bombs then box office smashes.
(re: Al Franken) The entire cast Did Not leave at the end of the first season! Who writes this stuff!? And Franken stuck around for five more years, left, then came back a few years later.
The narration could be cut by 66% and we wouldn't miss it
I like how on tv tropes, the Andrew Dice Clay episode is a base breaker, yet, people don't remember the sketches IN that episode. They only know because Nora Dunn spoke against him, knowing that she wasn't going to be asked back.
ADC didn't even want to host the show because of burn out but his Dad begged him to.
TINY ELVIS Y'ALL!
It was a really bad episode and he was really unfunny when he was on.
@@marks.3303 But very few people remember that episode...but thank you for telling me about this.
I think i remember Dice Clay
John Belushi Was Right
you know whats weird? Its just like Norm Macdonald to have a fake feud... just to mess with public perception, so i wouldnt say katan was lying
victoria jackson: NEVER FUNNY and insane. CHRIS KATTAN: will always love him, he deserves more credit. CHEVY CHASE: I don't know his off screen behavior, but a true comedic genius!
Hey Mojo, point of order. No one, NO ONE ever laughed hysterically at the Roxbury guys.
Yeah agreed yet I am one of the very few that thought a night at the roxbury was funny.
True 'dat!
I did.
It was funny the first time.
Yeah, no, you're wrong, the roxbury sketches were popular especially the jim carrey one, and the movie is a cult classic. Dont claim to speak for others when you are nothing but a fake authority
Norm McDonald was one of the funniest guys on the planet. Kittan was okay, at best.
It still catches me off guard every time I'm reminded that Robert Downey Jr. did a stint on SNL.
Me too!
04:30 was this before or after he shot & killed the woman in front of her husband, on set, with a fully-loaded revolver?
It was before. Everyone knows it was before. So why are you asking?
3:11 Dunn was done.
Eddie Murphy just couldn’t handle the fact that he really did fall off, waaayyy off…
No, I would think a cast member from your old show that you helped shape in your era make a dig. And from all people David Spade? It was a bullsht move on Spades part.
David Spade made the comment because Eddie had changed his movies and roles to shows that he could take his children to. Some were just not funny.
David Spade is not much and not at level of funny as Eddie Murphy so Eddie is right to take him on
SNL hasn't been funny for many years. Not a jab, just the truth.
funny that Trump actually write HUUUGE. he is such a charicature of himself.
SNL is nice to Trump, they could easily release his awful sketches and times he was in Drag.
I'm posting as I watch this, so I'm going to say the winners are:
20) Al Franken. Sorry...Senator Al Franken
19) Oscar winner Adam McKay
18) Tough one, I'm going to say no winners, except maybe Dice, who reinvented himself later
17) I'll say Sweeney, since she ended up having a career that she actually enjoyed post-SNL
16) Hm...being President should make Trump the winner, but Michaels wrote 3 Amigos.
Did Eddie Murphy really resumed making box office hits?
Yes
@@JUSTMIKE123 yikes, must have missed them
Norm Macdonald is the goat
What about Lorne Michaels and NBC Network executives. He was in constant arguments with them in first 5 years of the show. Skits getting rejected by NBC having writers redo Skits because they were too much for Execs. By end of 1979-1980 season Lorne Michaels was going to stop doing the show and quit or take it somewhere else. He left as head of the show and the following 3 1/2 years were the worst ever shows the new head of SNL bowed to NBC Heads and made softer, pg and g rated skits. Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscapo are who kept the show worth watching.
They resent somebody for having the courage to stick to their moral code, yep that's show business for you kid.
RDJ was a cast member? 😮
There were a lot of SNL beefs n drama over the years
Jim Bruer is just so not funny.... NEVER understood why people liked him. personal tastes, I guess. it's just so sophomoric.
Explains why he now caters to right wingers. You know, where the joke “My pronouns are U S A” is told by every “comedian” 😂
Breuer seems even more incredibly unfunny now. I can't take listening to his stuff. It's absolutely terrible. Something always seemed sort of empty about his jokes, though his Joe Pesci and stuff wasn't bad.
Im only here for Norm
I wish Murphy had done the old walk up behind in Spade's segment the next week. Could have smacked David around a bit and it would have been over.
Yeah and then Sandler and maybe Farley too would have beaten Eddy to a pulp
@@moappleseider1699 Naw, naw, it would be the big smooth over. The old "talkin' trash and then they appear over your shoulder and the audience goes batshit" deal. Been done plenty of times. But, yeah, I can see Farley getting his back up. Sandler I'd think is a tick more cerebral🙂
R I P Norm
Lorne Michaels to Damon Wayans, "You're Fired!"
Damon Wayans, "Hold my Beer!"
ha ha
Of course Breuer didn’t get along with McKay, Breuer has no idea how to be funny.
Mckay is brilliant but breuer had joe pesci show which is a snl classic
Tina Fey 💥 Amy Poehler
😂
Really?
What's the music called?
Love your videos!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

I think Louie was probably right about Pete’s drug use. Ya know in light of the rehab and all…
DAVIDSON IS LITERALLY THE MOST UNFUNNY PERSON EVER!
5:13 what they did to Wayans was disgusting! It's literally the same thing that they were trying to do to Katt Williams Dave Chappelle and Robin Harris many of you who know him as the guy who wrote the banging ass cartoon movie Bay Bay's kids. They tried to literally take his royalties from him and give him pennies to the dollar every time a rerun came on either that or I think they were trying to pay him nothing for his reruns and all of his work LOL little did they know this man was smart as hell and his mama taught him better. So he walked and they were very upset about it this is why teen and hasn't done anything big or significant since then they are literally trying to blackball my guy
Robert Downey, Sr. died in 2021. The last time Chevy hosted was in 1997 and the last time Chevy hosted when RDJ was a cast-member was in 1986.
It was a shot at his father's career dying
