Finally got to see this total guitar hero and legend in London of this year. He rarely gets to the UK these days so it was a real treat, to say the least. He is the very best, top of the heap, beyond a shadow of a doubt.
One of the best if not the best country pickers to ever strap on a teley Albert has never seased to amaze me and I've been playing sense I was 7 years old I'm now 60 and I've seen quite a few good ones.
Saw Albert Lee and Ry Cooder with Eric Clapton in 1983. The Money and Cigarettes tour. The solos these three traded we're really amazing. Clapton's blues solos we're the best I've heard. He did a long slow melodic sole before Wonderful Tonight that may have been the most beautiful solo ever. However, Albert Lee was simply the best of the three far and away. His soloing took elements of Ry and Erics' ideas and just left the planet. Imagine every great lead guitar player on every killer solo you have ever heard. All the tones, all the melodic ideas, all the arpeggios, all the sustain, staccato, legato, chordal extensions, double stops, bending, keys, modes, inversions, use of triplets, effects, styles, I mean absolutely everything on all the different EC music, used, not over used, perfectly between Ry Cooder and Eric's amazing guitar playing and you get the picture. Albert Lee is by far the most under the radar master of any thing lead and rhythm electric guitar.
great update. i believe he used to play with ricky skaggs when ricky was young. So Albert must be getting up to around 43 or 44 years old now. Dude will live forever, never eats bad, never smoked a cig, never drinks alcohol like some in the Nashville music biz do like Keith Whitley & Carter Stanley.
Saw Albert with heads hands and feet at the Rex Hotel Whitley Bay, then at the Mayfair in Newcastle. The band had a VW camper van in their fleet. Also saw him at the Cellar Club in South Shields about 30 years later, a great player and nice guy!
In 1994, during one of the raging malibu wildfires, Albert's wife Karen asked me if I would load my truck with Albert's guitar collection and evacuate them. Albert was in europe, and the fire was getting dangerously close to their home. I had a 1 ton Chevy flatbed, and we loaded this amazing stack of cased guitars on my truck, encircling their neighbor's vintage stock Harley flathead 45, which I was also asked to evacuate. Too bad I didn't get pics. Fortunately, the widfire was stopped a ridge away from their home.
I had the great privilege of seeing Albert Lee and 10 years after when I was a kid in highschool. I was astonished to see Lee while doing a solo rift in the middle of the concert change a string that had popped on his guitar so fast that he didn't even miss note of his solo. I was blown away. Never had seen anything like that before or since. From that moment on I knew that I had been in the presence of the greatest guitar player on earth. No one will ever be able to convince me otherwise.
Albert is one of my favorite guitarists of all time, and I love that his name is totally melded into the blues and rock players Albert King and Alvin Lee.
My favorite guitarist. Albert was responsible for getting the Everly Brothers to reunite in 1983. The Gibson Les Paul "Black Beauty" is one of Keith Richards' favorites too. You can see him play it on "Paint It Black" on the Ed Sullivan show video from 1966.
Albert Lee really made Ricky Skaggs sessions sound awesome. Even though Ricky can handle a tele better than many other session guys. Watch the vid "Restless" with Ricky, Vince, Mark (fiddle), Steve Warner. Great amount of tele pickin. Enjoy.
@@raymondvaughan6262 that makes sense i thought it may be unusual seeing a telecaster instead of a 335, ❣️🐕🎸👍 this guy is pretty good too for a jazz guitarist.
@@saltek1a he's a great guy and has been on Nashville Now many many times with Ralph Emory, that's the show that is taped lived in front of an audience at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel & Casino. It's a great place to watch the harp player in the lobby mezzanine. They also have a great set of pools that are just unmatchable. You will also always see a country star there coming or going, it's unbelievable. By the way, he also appears on the Crook & Chase show.... No they are not married but are a cute couple doing a live show as well. And very popular show. Here is an excerpt of the show ---> th-cam.com/video/f5Pmi7Umo4Q/w-d-xo.html
Doubt it. Alvin's real last name was Barnes. I agree they are both gifted players. FWIW, you can hear them both on Jerry Lee Lewis' "The Session" album. Lot of good stuff on there. Albert played on many of the tracks, Alvin on a handful.

Such a lovely humble guy......... and an absolute wizard of the guitar.
Yes he is and verry over looked. I don't know why but he has helped create a lot of hit records for a lot of people
Saw Albert a few days ago - still as brilliant as ever - in his 80th year!
Wonderful to hear
Best flat picker going.Albert Lee has become my favourite guitar player. No distortion,,no effects, just plain picking.

Seen Albert live many times over the years and saw him the other night in Canterbury, he is playing and singing as good as ever !

Bull shit pussy.
What a lucky man you are.
Bull crap
He signed my 1988 Tele in Virginia, along with Leo Kottke and Lee Ritenour! My prized possession!
Check Albert's interview on Anderton's channel. I've seen Albert several times and he makes time to chat. Excellent musician and amiable person.
Met last Wednesday was amazed he took the time to talk to me properly so much respect for the man

I think you are thinking of Alvin lee not albert
I wish I’d been there for that gig. Mr Telecaster goes blues rock.....
I believe you're thinking of Alvin Lee.
I think that was at Woodstock and you were smoking so much weed that you didn't know it was actually Alvin Lee that you were watching.
Albert ,,is the nicest guy in the world,,,from WAY back,,,,,
Legendary Talent thank you for footage.
I saw albert in australia in the 80s , awesome. Everyone kept calling out for him to play general lee, the piece he recorded with steve morse. Lol.
Albert. Just awesome.
As a primary acoustic flatpicker, I love to see his other ventures!
First heard of Albert when he played with Bert Jansch on a special Bert did. Bert was a big fan of Albert's playing.
Bert was a great player

Gibson Florentine electric mandolin - the same model played by Jethro Burns! :)
Nice collection!👍😎🎸🎶
Was the Telecaster signed by Adrian Gurvitz or Janne Schaffer or Jan Akkerman?
Love his work in Ten years after
I believe that is Alvin Lee and no relation to Albert
@@EKAdventures51 either would be a welcome guest in Spinal Tap 😍
That was Alvin Lee

i was waiting for the musicman to come out :P
7:50 Does he really think someone is going to be able to copy that lick? lol
So wherer are the Music Man guitars?
Should be Sir Albert Lee.

Early 1980’s
@@JanJohanssonmusic thanks man! dude doesn't make ANY mistakes even when he's just playing around. What is it about people like him, it's amazing.
Super player and appears to be a very nice guy.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm curious how he came to play in the Hot Band for Emmylou Harris. For sure he is a main to have called it the Hot Band.
I sure wish you could teach me how to play guitar
any relation to Alvin Lee of Ten Years After fame , both guys are phenomenal guitar players from England ?

No
What is 22 or 24 with regards to strings?
It's the gauge (thickness) of the string in 1000's of an inch. Hence. 22 = 22 thousandths of an inch.
Tab??? Thank you
It would be nice if you would at least tell us the date this was recorded....?
A Fox ,shoot, it looks from the 80's
This is an instructional video, from Homespun I think
I’d say early 90’s.
Al S Star Licks
It’s from the early 80s...maybe 83-84...Star licks instructional
Not have B-Bender :(
Omg
cool interview, but so much high end in the audio that every time he opens his mouth you can hear it....
marazm1 - how about if I keep this footage up here until you replace it with a better sounding version.
gotfurdommuh.........en dit hoor ik nou pas !!!....jammers....;-(... DANKJEWEL....
So do you have 4, 5 or 6 teles??? 😂😂😂
he should go back to the Tele...it simply sound better than what he plays now.
very much agreed!
Yes, I agree also.
Slowly. Didn't happen... lol!
If he would have practiced a lot more he might have been a decent player.
😂
