    Lots of good points. I think a lot of people have voiced their reservations for manuals especially in newer cars these days. A lot of times emissions regs have forced rev hang to be programmed in which I feel sucks the life out of the driving experience. IMO the biggest thing is that the manuals just get long gears that are spaced far apart (for emissions). Having 7 gears with the DCT completely changes the auditory experience especially with a high revving NA motor. Going from 8.4k -> 7k in the blink of an eye vs 8.4k -> 6.5k makes it feel quite literally like a race car. Without having the experience of driving two cars back to back with different gearboxes, the sound alone comes close to justifying the DCT for me.

      I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and weighed in! The rev hang is a great point that many people should consider, the DCT is sharp as a knife, quick and instantaneous shifts are such a big drawing factor for me.

    I think dct suits the s65 much more. Everyone I know who’s owned/driven multiple e9x m3s says the dct is better!

      I think I'd choose the DCT in 9 out of 10 driving situations, really enjoy the gearbox!

    Nice video! I’m looking for an e90 m3 as a 2nd car. I’m heavily considering DCT after trying it, but I’ve yet to try a manual m3. My mustang is already a manual v8, so it could be nice to give DCT a try.

    • @EJWE92

      Definitely give both gearboxes a try but I think you'll find the DCT can really deliver the driving experience you want without feeling like you're "missing out" on something by not having the manual.

    Valid points! But I'd have to say "saving the manuals" doesn't have to mean going out and buying brand new manual cars. If there is a desirability for manual cars in the used market, I think owners buying new now would also have a bit more incentive to choose the manual option. Obviously this is less of an effect, but still so nonetheless.

      Bottom line, the more people that understand, appreciate and drive manuals, the better!

    I got a e90 M3 manual, its a blast. But, I will say, there are moments I wish I got the DCT. Heal/toe is fun, but wouldnt mind being a bit lazy some times (M3 is not a daily driver).

    • @EJWE92
      @EJWE92  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally feel that! Of course there’s pros and cons to both and I’m a huge fan of a manual gearbox, but for this platform I don’t feel like I’m missing out by not having it.

    Great points! Just watched Tedward's versus video as well. What are your thoughts on the new ZF gearboxes that are found in the new M3/M4? How do they compare to these DCT's?

    • @EJWE92
      @EJWE92  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having extensively driven both G80 and G82 M3/4 with the ZF I can confidently say they are much less rewarding to drive if you goal is to have a spirited "hoon" on backroads. That being said, for day to day mundane driving and sitting in traffic, I think they're the better option (DCT can be a bit clunky and sporadic in those situations).

      @@Jayn911I’d have to go with the e92 as a forever car, it’s really the full package. F80 left me wanting for more and the e46 is great but given the choice I’d take E92

    • @chanhyung88

      Manual transmission just does not feel very good on this car. Notchy shifter, vague clutch feel. Also the gearing is way too long on the manual. @@spoolindsm127

      @spoolindsm127 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chanhyung88 Thanks for replying! I can see how that makes the DCT more desirable. What I don't find people ever discussing is how the engine sound characteristics are different between the two. Manual let's you hear the full range of the motor which, in my opinion, is the main reason to buy this car. For the sound. The DCT takes away from that no?

    • @chanhyung88
      @chanhyung88 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      DCT manual mode does wonders. Again, I prefer the DCT 100 out of 100 times on this car. I prefer manual on Porsche or JDM cars but not on BMW.@@spoolindsm127

    I'm more confused why you bought with a sunroof instead of carbon roof. That's lunacy. But that's not as crazy than why you'd buy one with no idrive. That's one low spec m3

    • @EJWE92
      @EJWE92  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Single hump (no idrive) is without a doubt more desirable among bmw enthusiasts, the interior is much more timeless with the absence of a dated infotainment system. I bought the car to drive it, it was the right price, maintenance and mileage. Let people enjoy things.
