    Very interesting, this is the first video that I have watched and I've watched a ton that suggests to get a manual treadmill for a better workout. It's like a lightbulb going off above my head. I want to get a low cost manual treadmill for walking at home, not a fan of walking outside with broken sidewalks, cars, dog poop, etc. and let's not forget covid. I want to thank you for this video because I've now made the decision to go manual and not be plugged into a wall socket.

    Yes but, this particular treadmill you're running on, is probably way more expensive than some good electric treadmills.

      Yeah because it's a curved one, they're more professional treadmills that usually come as manual. A normal manual is usually very cheap

    I brought a 80$ cardio slide from WalMart...it seems I'm using my whole body instead of the help you get using a motorized treadmill...the manual seems to provide more resistance....

    Lost credibility when you said “an electric treadmill won’t make you better at running or improve stamina”. You could argue that’s it’s less effective, but running on treadmill will certainly still get you in shape versus not running at all.

      i got a manual one and i did not like that you have to use your feet to push on the track to make it move , then i went out and got a electric one and to me its more comfortable running on it , i'm about 1000 mile from getting my 6 pac , i have lost close to a 100 pound on this electric treadmill , in my opinion a electric treadmill works better if you really want to get healthy and shed some pound,

    • @vanbuddha1
      @vanbuddha1 ปีที่แล้ว

      hello, im on a postural mission myself.. iron neck, monkey feet, Achilles warrior ankle strentheners ,and most recently barefoot runners.. maybe you can answer my question: new to barefoot runners ... I've noticed much greater activation and release of muscles on the manual treadmill more so than actual walking ... any insight to this ... I almost would find it hard to believe that the curve manual is better than actual walking however my muscles seem to respond better....your thoughts?

    straight board or curve board manual treadmill?

  • @fullsleevetats
    @fullsleevetats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The paradox, is that the manual, non-motorized treadmills are 5x-10x the cost of their motorized counterparts. $329 for motorized, $3,600 for the non-motorized model shown in this video. That's a steep price for someone hoping to get into running with the correct form and fit.

    • @sergeboivin566
      @sergeboivin566 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but I would not expect a $329 treadmill to last a long time. I bought a cheaper motorized treadmill for home use that I used almost everyday, and the motor broke down in less than a year, even with proper care and lubrication. So price is not everything,. I am thinking maybe I can strip the motor of my cheap treadmill, set it at an incline, and use it as a non-motorized treadmill.

    I am a lifelong runner. My buddy, who doesn't run, bought a motorized for him & his wife. He showed it to me and was so proud of it. I was speechless for a millisecond...luckily, I'm a decent actor - so I pulled it off. Personally, I could never run indoors, but I'm buying one for my daughter since the neighborhood has gone downhill & its not safe for women to run. You should provide a link for a decent mech. treadmill...you can help us & make some cash for yourself.

  • @reviademir85
    @reviademir85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The harder you run the more noise it makes......do you think my neighbours will be happy if I do use a non motorized treadmill early in the morning or during the day? I prefer a non motorized treadmill though...the electric treadmill will raise my electricity bills 😂 😂

  • @MrSergecj
    @MrSergecj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Hello...using regular treadmill you don’t get better at running, well thats just wrong statement.
    You do get better at running, I got my 17:00 5k in a year from 35:00 min 5k, and 80% of my running training was on electrical treadmill 10% on road and 10% on track. (I did other exercise too).
    So please don’t say you don’t get better at running.
    I can even make an argument against manual treadmill. I think manual treadmill is good for anaerobic sprints, but for endurance long distances is not suitable.

      @chavez349 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrSergecj definitely. I helped one of my clients qualify for Boston with an electric treadmill and didn’t even run outside. Most fitness products work great it’s just how you use them.

    • @coolmodee01
      @coolmodee01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed when I was in Iraq back in 2009 most days we couldn't run outside because the sand storms were so bad and the dust in the air was terrible. I spent a whole year there running on a treadmill every day and I got my 2 mile time down to the mid-12s from the 15s. Granted you'll always be slower when you hit the ground but not significantly I usually have a 30-second difference or so.

  • @EpictheEpicest
    @EpictheEpicest 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I do prefer manual treadmills, but your reasoning makes no sense. When you run outside, are you pushing the ground behind you? No, you are moving yourself forward on top of the ground. The only difference of the manual treadmill is you have to initiate the movement, but once it's moving it shouldn't actually require any backward force to keep it moving because it's moving from momentum and sliding on ball bearings. Have you never tried moving on an electric treadmill when it's off? If it doesn't have a locking mechanism. It's the exact same thing

  • @louisd95714
    @louisd95714 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is bullshit. I agree that manual treadmills require more energy than motarized treadmills, but the legs are still moving on motarized treadmills, and the heart rate still increases. Plus, cushioned motarized treadmills are much better for leg and knee joints than manual treadmills. The curved manual treadmills are definately more benificial, but don't say for a minute that motarized treadmills are useless. What I would do is find a gym with the curved manual treadmills, use them, but for home use, get a motarized treadmill instead. The curved manual treadmills are too expensive in my opinion to justify the cost for home use.
