  • An exclusive pre-release look at the Fouga Magister CM170 by AzurPoly for MSFS. This iconic training aircraft has been brought to life in excellent detail which far surpasses the freeware version by Restauravia. I get the chance to show you what's in store for its upcoming release and put it through its paces. I include a brief startup demo, takeoff and landing, both cockpits, smoke as well as a side-by-side comparison with the Restauravia version. Judge for yourself if it's worth it - but I was quite impressed!
💥 Real checklist available in links below 💥
Pre-Release Version - subject to change
It will be available on the Marketplace on 27 Jan 2022 for the price of $27.50 (details subject to change). Please visit the developer website/facebook page for the latest information.

I remember seeing this plane while playing golf at Woodbrook Golf course about 10 miles south of Dublin. On the 16tee looking along the edge of a cliff not very high. We saw two of these Irish Air Cor together rising above about 300 - 400 foot high cliff. Saw the planes first & the sound came later, never forget it, brought back memories about 34yrs ago & the sun glinted off the wings. Great plane demonstration & video with a nice landing. . Appreciate it, Buddy.

Many years ago I was standing in the playground of my primary school in Co Donegal. I was already into planes in a big way when two of these flew over in formation. I didn't shut up about it for weeks! I'm looking forward to finding out more and I'll likely purchase this for the sentimental value alone. It looks great.

Fouga 218 is currently under renovation in the Ulster Museum Belfast if you want to see an air corps Fouga close up. Might even have been one you seen.

Very nice video. I love this aircraft, used to see plenty of them flying something like 50 - 60 years ago. I have a full manual but in foreign... Anyway: rotation at 70 (!) KN, lift-up at 105 KN., RPM 12,300-21,750, EGT 590-665 C. Landing: on final 115 KN, over threshold 110 KN. There are a million of more details, I hope we'll get a proper manual from AzurPoly. Have a great weekend!

I liked how you showed the aircraft from the outside during the flight particularly at the landing so the viewer could gauge the flight model, no reviewers do that, so that is very good. You also look around at times which is intuitive and few reviews if any ever do that, usually they offer a fixated forward view of the instrument panel, so nice again. Nice review. Would like to have seen a demonstration of the roll rate and the air brakes. The acceleration looks a little fast on the takeoff roll from a few real ones on you tube videos. Thanks for the objective review and thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the kind feedback! I did tell the developers that the jet seemed overpowered. There are still a couple of inaccuracies with the model which I hope will be fixed with an update.

    Nice preview Chris!!!
I unfortunately agree with you on the comparison between payware and freeware...
The great Retauravia Team has produced really wonderful aircraft by the past (Mirage IIIC and B for example) but I must admit I'm quite disappointed by this freeware Fouga.
Anyway let's not forget it's free!!!
I'm sure they will improve in the future as this aircraft is their first one for MSFS...
Looking forward to your full review when the Azurpoly Fouga is released!!!

This looks quite nice. I wasn't sure I'd want to pay for a Magister after the freeware one released. I might have to wait until next month (assuming it releases this month) since Asobo's new aircraft drops on the 31st, but I think this'll definitely get added to my hangar before long.

@@ronkramer3476 So you use TrackIR in cockpit but not for the external view? I just keybind to get the external camera (not drone) and then pan around. The TrackIR still functions to move the camera on the spot. I will be doing a video soon with how I setup my TrackIR. But I'm not sure of any specific links.

Nowadays no dev should get away with these medium res textures, what's the reason to have a texture setting if you don't provide high fidelity textures at the first place? And as the sim auto adjusts there is no performance hit when using 8k-ish textures, meaning that performance arguments devs come up with when they get critique... that's not an argument anymore! Why has every airframe that has been released so far some kind of flaws? Devs really should up their game, this could be such a nice aircraft, but sitting in the cockpit and looking hours on this broken edges? Not for me in the days of 4k. Please improve textures! THX for your First Look 💙 // The dev did upgrade the textures with 8k, really looks much better now. Love it!

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

A little harsh considering the devs are trying their best and we can vote with our wallets. I’m not sure it’s something they are trying to get away with. Some devs are small groups of people, sometimes as a hobby. I have fed my findings back to the devs and they are taking the points on board.

@@cgaviator As english isn't my first language i am sorry when i missed the tone. When it comes to freeware or aircraft/airports for a few bucks i certainly agree, it's fine that not everything keeps up with the new tech and i am happy that so many devs are doing things not for money but only to improve the simulation.
Not targeted at this specific aircraft, some thoughts in general... Are aware how much money you can make with aircrafts that are priced in a higher tier and get some attention through reviewers? The userbase is just much bigger now, and that can be pretty easy money for developing mediocre products.
I would really like to see that asking higher prices comes with high fidelity and regular updates/upgrades when the SDK improves and new effects or system elements are getting enabled. When the devs is currently unable to improve obvious downsides, fine - release it as a base model for a lower price and if upgrades are possible, i am happy to pay for it.
I like to pay for high fidelity aircrafts good, yet reasonable money. I am aware that not everyone has the ressources of PMDG or ORBX. Even then you can do collaborations and get help in fields that aren't yours...
It's not as easy as voting with wallet, many folks just jumping on band waggons just looking at a shiny picture...
Maybe i am a bit fed up seeing more "gaming" aircrafts then i see immersive "simulation aircrafts". Maybe i should just buy PMDG and shut up... Thx for your videos💙
