The old goat is behind Mr. Hoss bottom shelf in the middle. Stopped by Hoss tools to get my favorite seeds for this year's garden and also got an brand new double wheel. And yes done put some run time on it.... couldn't wait. It ran flawlessly. I got big plans for it and my health for this year. I'm ready to get dirty. Thanks and everyone there is just blooming with southern hospitality. I will be back. Not soon enough for me. I had to make myself leave. I went twice in one day.
Good morning! The ol goat is behind the pink sign above Mr Greg's right shoulder. Yes, unfortunately those of us in zone 9 have to wait to start our Roselle. 😥 Stay safe in this cold wave y'all.
I am also pumped about your new tray. Having a small garden those large trays are always a problem when you want to plant. At least for me. Great spot light garden. Old goat is behind Hoss on the bottom shelf in the middle.
I really look forward to watching the two of you. I have been learning so much. The old goat is making such a happy appearance on the first shelf behind the pink sign. You all are making me hungry. Thank you and take care!!
Thank you for another show. I received my seeds for the year from yall yesterday, I'm already planning my strategy for the Hossinator contes! I'll be growing them for market. Excited to receive the first seed of the month as well, I got an email this week saying it shipped!
Good evening, my Savannah mustard and my collards are as sweet as can be after these frost, Old Goat is on the bottom behind Hoss. Been out in the warm green house this evening building a new seed starting and potting table. Gonna start my spring brassicas tomorrow. cant wait.
Hey y'all from TX!! Brussel sprouts are one thing I haven't managed to enjoy eating. I have a heat mat from Hoss and I'm still learning when to take to cover off the seedlings and get that light on it. Old Goat wants to cuddle in the bottom shelf behind Hoss.
I love Brussels sprouts the way my wife cooks them. She fries them in a cast iron wok in olive oil with onions, turmeric powder, chili powder, Himalayan salt, and Jerusalem artichokes. Cut up the Brussels sprouts in two (or four if they're big) with equal amounts of cut up Jerusalem artichokes. Make the Jerusalem artichoke pieces the same size as the Brussels sprouts pieces. Yummy! I love your beautiful amaryllis!
@@gardeningwithhoss First cook the onions in the olive oil (or coconut oil) for a while because it takes them longer to cook than the other stuff. Then throw in all the other stuff. My wife never measures anything but she always gets it right. She's the 5th out of 10 kids (7 girls and 3 boys) so she's an awesome cook.
Little different starting seeds in zone 6. Heat mat is essential in my basement for warmth. Want a tomato by July 4th, you have to step up. We’ll probably still have snow on the ground when you’re planting your tomatoes! BTW, my Hoss Jade Cross Brussels sprouts did great last spring.
Hi guys! I don't use a heat mat. But I start my seeds in my living room where it stays 😊at 80 to 85 except for a few hours at nite 😊as I have a wood stove going in there! I use bottom trays too and it works well.
I planted Roselle last year and I started it LATE. Super late. It was probably late May to start seeds inside. Why? Because it doesn't bear on time, it bears on day length. (which is why the new variety will be fun to try). So planting Roselle early wouldn't help anything. When the day length got short enough, it started blooming. I got roselle for roselle tea this year. It's awesome.
Haven't been here for awhile but glad to be today. I want to do onions this year. How long can I order onions since won't be able to plant here until March or May? Those roasted Brussel sprouts look so delicious. I'll be starting the seeds in an outdoor building under lights and considering using the heat mats this year to get things started here in the Midwest while I get the green house done and when it's warmed up outdoors. I like the thermostat to regulate the heat and ability to hook the mats together. Also like those smaller seed starter trays too. I look forward to getting some seeds when warmer and when I can. Thanks so much for sharing
We only sell onion starts in the fall. They are the short day onions. We are looking to expand to intermediate and long day onions in the future. We do sell onion seeds year round.
Old goat behind Mr Hoss on bottom shelf. How long should mats last? Several times I have used them a year they work great. I go to use them the next year & they no longer heat up. It was disappointing as they were not cheap mats. Love Mrs Hoss’s new haircut.
Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned a lot so far. I would like to learn more. Where I can provide for my family and a garden. It is very hard in a state of Florida s tough to grow vegetables. But I really want to learn how to grow here where I can feed my family
I find you can take a bite of brussel sprouts and get a nice sweet one, and the next one can be bitter. I only got them to grow once 🥴 I see Old Goat behind Greg, behind the pink sign.
I did not know about no bottom tray on the heat mat. e? I will have to take the tray off tomorrow . What do you think about using a crock pot set on low to heat and humidify a small greenhouse outside on the back porch?
Mama hoss your hair looks so nice and super thick, I love it!!! I do have a question though, is the old goat in need of medical attention? He seems to be missing a body part!!!
working through my calendar to start seeds, in regards to to wording on seed packets. when most packets use the term "after your last frost", generally this mean your average last frost date? like for starting indoors they say "start indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost". but then also when a packet says to "transplant seedlings outside after your last frost" does this mean your actual last frost date and not your average last frost. and just to make a long post longer, if a seed packet gives you no start indoors (x-x weeks) suggestion and not even a transplant outside after last frost - but tells you a germination temperature for the seed, is it safe to assume that would be an ideal soil temp to transplant those outdoors? like if that same tomato packet says to germinate at 70-75, should i wait to transplant it outside until soil temps are in that range?
They should last for years. We have some 10 plus years old. I put them up after spring till next year. Check your Thermostat to make sure its working properly.
If I planted tomatoes and peppers in February they wouldn’t last one night . I’m in NC so it all depends on your last frost, and the night temperatures.
My spinach and Savannah mustard has been struggling I think my soil needs amended. Got the soil tested and it came back high on calcium and phosphorus and most everything else so I need something to bring it in balance but don’t know what.

Love your new haircut Sheila, can’t wait to hear about new seed tray, good show as usual.
Thank you!
Good information on how to use heat mats. I'm going to wait until after this next winter storm.
Good luck!
I can’t wait to start seeds! I’m looking forward to my potato seeds.

I just got one of your heat mats. It's had a hard time keeping the heat up. I just took the bottom tray off. This should help the temps
I heard somewhere it helps to put the heat mat on a sheet of styrofoam, haven't tried that yet.
@@RiverCrockett-in7bgChecked with Google. They said porcelain was ideal. Did need to take that bottom tray off thow

Yes we will.

Our soil here are high in calcium too. The phosphorus will get depleted over time. I would add some good compost.
