      This is legit, solid advice. I try to move in tight figure-8/"Infinity loop" movements as much as possible, a holdover from fencing is to *always* follow through, and retaining the momentum of that can lead to some otherwise awkward angles of attack being practical.
      I know, I'm a nerd, but it's a sound technique, and at the least, is one more tool in a fighter's arsenal.

  • @klayfi
    @klayfi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Coach. I agree the reload it's great to break rhythm. But I would not totally discount the other two techniques. Keeping your arm out or the stirring the pot technique can work as well. Example Roy Jones Jr. Also doubling to the same side without reload. Example Mike Tyson. But your technique has to be good. It's more of an inside hook getting your power from your legs and snap rather then from your reload. The first hook to the body is a PowerShot most likely being blocked. As soon as you drive the first hook in you totally relaxed and let the recoil or bounce back create the little space you need to snap the second one upstairs. You will sacrifice some power. But we all know it's the shot you don't expect that does the most damage. Maximum power does not always equal maximum damage. I am just putting out there that there are times that the other techniques could have some value when doubling up from the same side

    Listen to this man he knows what he is talking about I started boxing when I was 11 years old I am 29 now so I have been boxing for pretty much my whole life my record is 28 wins 0 loses 1 draw an 24 of those 28 wins were by knocking the other guy out usually in the first round had many chances to go pro but turned them down but anyways what he is saying is right lol you must reload for any punch tbh most people dont realize that most of your power comes from the legs shoulders torso barely any of it comes from the arms but you'll constantly see people throwing arm punches see the reason I am so good is cuz I've learned how to punch hard from any angle no matter what that angle is it takes years of practice an experience but if you master that then you can win many fights because most of my knockouts wins were from me throwing a awkward upper cut from a weird angle an the other guy not seeing it or thinking I could generate that much power in the stance I was in lol I've also taught my self to be able to throw punches in an either southpaw or orthodox stance an that will also switch things up a bit because most of my opponents didnt know I could do that so when they saw me in a southpaw stances they thought I was off balance an in a awkward stance so it would make them rush in with out worrying about anything so I would catch them coming it the best advice I was ever told about boxing was from mike tyson himself he taught me for like 2 hours one day when I first started but he said boxing is like magic its alot of set ups an mis direction maken the people believe your gonna do this but in reality your doing something completely different if you master that then you'll almost for sure beat up any average joe in the street

    Something I like to do that's similar to the version of this with the fake right is to go left jab right cross (instead of loading a hook) but delay the right and maybe put an extra left jab in front of it after the step to throw them off, I have to admit I haven't had a huge amount of success with it but it's fun to do and I'd say it maybe works about half the time, so not super reliable but I think that's more down to the way I'm doing it than the technique itself, any tips? To be clear what I'm talking about is a left jab followed by a lead foot advance to load a right cross but deliver the cross half a beat late, maybe with an extra left jab before the cross to throw off their timing. I don't know if I'm explaining that well but I hope it makes sense.

    Not seen a single video covering a double right hook🤷🏻‍♂️🤔I guess the less people that know about it the better hey;)😂the first right (no pivot) is used to hit/pull the opponents left glove down (orthodox) and then the second right (with pivot) is the sweet shot. Short quick and powerful punches for the win 🏆 @hard2hurt

  • @pedroe.p.decastro8522
    @pedroe.p.decastro8522 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    since you're reloading for the second hook, wouldn't it be a good idea to faint a right cross/hook or post with the right? Just thinking of action economy.

    • @JohnSmith-oe5kx
      @JohnSmith-oe5kx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, because you are reloading your hook with your weight on your front (left) foot and left cocked. No way to throw a right from that position, nor get into that position seamlessly after having thrown a right

    • @DarthRane113
      @DarthRane113 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had a frequent sparring partner catch on to this the other day. Caught him with a hook to the body, and he blocked up high. Just blasted his body again. Next opportunity, I threw that first hook, he was blocking the second, so I shifted into an uppercut. I think I owe him an apology.

    Can you do a video about how to fight southpaws 🙏 I have very little experience with southpaws due to there only being 2 at my gym and I’ve sparred them but they’re way too heavy for me to learn... they don’t know how to work with me I recently fought a southpaw in my first amateur fight and I won but I felt completely sloppy and at times out of balance
