I can relate to Billy stumbling in this. After my mom died, I read a poem about her out loud and had trouble getting the words out. I still miss her today.
Agree that Amanda shouldn't have taken that call during a funeral - but it sounded like it might have been imperative to take it in order to possibly save a client (esp. since in prior episodes there was dialogue about what Brooke supposedly should have done but didn't) and they were waiting on the priest to conduct the burial service; however, it really still should have went to voice mail.
Yes, it could've waited. Amanda could've called back and explained that while Brooke was the one for the account, her funeral had just taken place that day and D&D was making new arrangements for the account.
Agree - or Amanda could call back to explain that Brooke had suffered some personal issues (which can't be disclosed due to HIPPA privacy laws) & experienced sudden death with the funeral having been that day and they will be in touch shortly to announce her successor.
Sydney had a good point about the cell phone and she looked ADORABLE. Amanda's skirts barely covers her butt, cover up, girl, especially at work and a funeral.
“ Oh. Just what I need. Styler points from Gidget!” 😂😂😂 I used to crack up over that! This is right around the time during the 1990s when the old-school 1960s look was back in and that’s exactly what Sydney was rocking during most of the season four.
I’m surprised so many came to the funeral considering how bad Brooke treated people and that she didn’t have any close relation to most of the people here. Billy, Alison and Amanda should have been the only ones there.
Practically everyone came to the funeral to support Billy, not to do a life celebration of Brooke - you are correct that only Billy, Alison & Amanda should have attended.
Did you all notice that Sydney and Jane didn't even speak to each other or sit by each other in this scene? 😂 Like a few others commented, I have no idea why Sydney was even in this scene. She had zero interactions with Brooke and she only had about a small handful of interactions with Alison and Billy over the whole series.
If I had to eulogize her... Brooke Armstrong was deeply loved by her father, an ambitious woman who was driven to achieve her personal and professional goals, and an impactful member of the Melrose Place community. Her death has affected us all, and Melrose Place will not be the same with her having passed.
Here's mine: Brooke Armstrong was an only child dotingly raised by her widower father who evolved into an ambitious woman deeply driven and passionate about her goals which she aimed to fulfill no matter what. She also was an inquisitive and creative member of the D&D team. Her goals and actions to achieve them became a catalyst to business at D&D as well as the goings on at the Melrose Place community. Her death left a large hole in the D&D team as well as the Melrose Place community where she will be missed.
Billy had trouble talking I think because part of him felt responsible for her death even though he's one of my favorites maybe in a way he wasn't going well I'm sure he didn't want you know he did just did not want to die but I think that part he did feel a little bit responsible for her dying
6980MulhollandDrive they could have kept brooke on the show longer. they could have paired her up with some other guy worthy of her treachery. She could have married a sugar daddy and got the money to menace melrose place.
I totally agree here that Billy felt a little guilty about her death. When they first found her dead in the pool, he kept saying “we were only going to the movies.” And then when Alison said it was all just a horrible accident, he said “or was it?”
They all lived in the same building and supposedly were friends, which implies for the viewers that they might have had interactions other than the ones seen 'on screen'. Sydney may have spoken to Brooke once in a while, but that was not part of the 'plot'.
@@kamdav1892exactly, after season 1 I always assumed that the characters who lived at Melrose Place still bonded and were friends/friendly off camera. I always thought that Kimberly apologized to Jo and the two were cordial again
Possibly out of (unnecessary guilt) - she said earlier to Billy that if she didn't arrange to have Brooke hired at D&D in the first place , that she and her father Hayley would still be alive - obviously that's illogical as who's to say it wouldn't have happened anyway under different circumstances?
Dude that’s not it. He’s eulogizing a person who lied to him about a having his child and when he broke up with her, she did nothing but make his life miserable. He’s trying to make her sound like a nice person when she was anything but.
1:14 Allison is simply embarrassed to be there. Meanwhile, the only attendees at Brooke's funeral are tenants of Melrose Place and three random extras in the background. I wish we had heard Allison's eulogy too: "What can you say about a whiny, heartless, painful-to-watch television character who we finally killed off? Brooke Armstrong was... she was... thank you."

Sorry for your loss.
“Amanda, I know it’s the 90’s, but a cell phone at a funeral? Very tacky.”
Sydney was right on that one. But that’s California for you.

Lol very progressive for the time
Seriously?! This ONLY happens in California?! 🤗

I noticed that too, she looked like she came from the 70s. The looks was cute on her though.

She was a bully, not a serial killer.
Amanda wouldn't of had her job or anything without Brooke..she owes her career to her.
"I know it's the 90s, but..." that's such a golden line!
Good quote

A classic Melrose funeral
Aaahhh,yes, Melrose place ,welcomeback!!!!!!!
Dealing about business work at funeral or talking to a man at his wife about the business work is wrong too
Sydney here is in fine-form
As bad as this eulogy was, I've heard worse. Sometimes it's best TO JUST NOT SAY ANYTHING

@@alexisdiva9 Really good, but I think that would be better as an obituary.
lol
Style pointers from Gidget lmao! Love Amanda
It would've been more interesting if Allison was the only one who attended the funeral.
That would have made fans hate the protagonists of melrose place
That would have been cool to watch that.
She was her only other relative, her step mother.
@@freiza79 But Brooke was a horrible human being.

6980MulhollandDrive I wanted her to turn her life around too. But I agree that she was in such dire straits that she had no money or friends
I get the feeling this is the director's subtle way of having Andrew Shue's horrid acting make the scene work for him.
I totally agree here that Billy felt a little guilty about her death. When they first found her dead in the pool, he kept saying “we were only going to the movies.” And then when Alison said it was all just a horrible accident, he said “or was it?”
As funny as she was in this scene why was Sydney invited to the funeral? I can’t remember her and Billy and Brooke even having any interaction AT all.
Well, funerals in the US generally don’t involve invitations. Billy’s friends and acquaintances from the building came in support of him.
@@CraigJordanLA thats correct.sydney assisted because they were neighbours

0.37 Amanda's Catherine Tramell moment (at least one of them).
Sorry why as Sydney even there? She was never friends with Billy in fact when did they even have a scene together !
Why Allison cared amazes me.
I didn’t get that either, the writers was all over the place with this show.

Andrew Shue "struggling" to give the eulogy is a premium example of his overall stiffness as an actor.

Sixty dollars for that awful haircut?
Probably $240 in 2021 dollars - but 2 hours on it was excessive - it wasn't better than those $6 haircuts.
what season and episode number is this?
Season 4 ep21
S4, ep 21 - title is "Devil in a Wet Dress"
Who are the black people? Did they work at D&D as well?
They had black extras working at D&D which you'd see in board scenes - this was to show diversity.
Oh, Andrew Shue. What terrible acting!
Perhaps they should've kept the original Billy - Stephen Fanning
And how many TV shows have YOU done?
Sra Mrtnlli Any relation to Dakota?

Melrose place is like adults taking over back from the kids of beverly hills 92010
That show is more edgy then BH90210
Or like the 80s taking back over the 90s
Why is Sydney at the funeral she never associated with Billy
She's a part of the group and being a part of the bomb incident
Oh God! $60 bucks for a haircut, to make you look unpleasant. Jake had a pleasant hairstyle.... What happened to that?! 👀
They all didn’t care about her … at this point
That damn thing is still very tacky in 2024!
