  • With so much negative news coverage of China, many Americans wonder why anyone would ever want to visit. In reality China is beautiful and the people are welcoming and friendly!

    I love Guilin. Spent a couple days there several years ago. Good to see you getting your family there to enjoy the real China and not what the corrupt Western media portrays. I wish every American would have an opportunity to see for themselves the beauty and friendliness of China.
    You should encourage your children to learn Mandarin. Their perspective of China will be next level once they can communicate freely with the locals.

      Many Americans used to visit China whether alone or in group tours until those extremely toxic anti China fake news propaganda started by Trump n doubled down by this old patato has created so much hatred n negative impressions that the number of Americans going there has dropped drastically. The US obsession for world dominance has divided instead of uniting the world

      I can't even agree more it's the same here in BC, Canada China bad China or they prefer to call CPC. It's ridiculous how this western media can wake every morning to think how must they attack China. I was in Shanghai, Beijing that was an eye opener after the years i learned in school and Media how bad and backward China was. I was shocked to see how DEVELOPED SHANGHAI was. From then on i never go back to believing anything the west says. Happy to see your family enjoy the real thing rather through the filtered lenses. Have a good time and by the way you need to worry about the SAFETY it's one of the safest country on this planet. I walked at night and never felt scared in the contrary i enjoy the night light there.

    I went to Guilin a few years ago. I love Guilin.China is NOT like we've been told back home. People really need to visit China to see the true China. I was pleasantly surprise at how advanced and futuristic China is.When I return home and tell my co-workers about my travels to China.... they refuse to believe me or the pictures I took. They just want to believe that I was shown around a "fake city" built for showing tourists. The fact that I was walking around these cities unescorted... still won't change their beliefs.Very sad... and infuriating at the same time.

Since the founding of New China, the slogan "Long live the Great Unity of the people of the world" has been posted on the Tian 'anmen Rostrum. For 70 years, this slogan has been the ideal of equality for everyone in the world and the goal of the Chinese people.

    This is a misunderstanding. Residents of Guangxi can go to Hong Kong and Macau at any time without a visa.
    But you need to be a Travel Resident, which is also what you need to do when going from Hong Kong to Guilin, Guangxi.
    The registration fee is approximately fifteen dollars.
    China is a huge country, and many people have never been to big cities like Beijing, Hong Kong, Chongqing, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shanghai, and Guangzhou in their lives.
    Just like residents of Seattle and San Francisco, they may have never been to Washington in their lives.
    Or to put it another way, it’s like most Americans have never been to Alaska in their lives.
    The Hong Kong dollars in your hand are probably like chips in an Alaska casino. Everyone is just curious.

    Yangshuo is just a county, not a city, and it is part of Guilin City in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (yes, Guangxi is an ethnic minority autonomous region, just like Xinjiang and Tibet), located in northeastern Guangxi, south of downtown Guilin. That's why it is one of the most well-known tourist attractions in China, dominated by pristine farmland and hills.
    Guilin itself is one of the most famous tourist cities in China, and as the Chinese saying goes, "The landscape of Guilin is the most beautiful in the world桂林山水甲天下" (the word "world天下" usually means China in the Chinese context).
    In northern Guangxi, for example, the two major cities of Guilin and Liuzhou are both karst landscapes, which are formed by the dissolution and sedimentation of soluble rocks by groundwater and surface water, erosion and deposition, as well as gravitational collapse, slumping, and accretion, etc. They are named after the Karst Plateau in Slovenia, which is also known as karst landforms in China, and are one of the five major modeling landforms in China. So in fact traveling in Guilin in addition to the small mountains and water on the surface, you should also go to see the caves in these mountains (travel brochures should have), that is also very majestic landscape.
    Of course, also because of this topographical feature, neither Guilin nor Liuzhou has the means to build a subway (too many caves formed by water erosion under the ground), and travel is mainly by land transportation. Plus, the mountains are in the middle of the city and there are rarely large flat and open areas, so the roads will be narrower than in other cities. In this kind of terrain, cars that are prone to traffic jams are very unsuitable, and an electric motorcycle or a small Wuling Baojun two-seater (like a Mercedes-Benz Smart) is the ideal private transportation.

    Such an enjoyable video. I wonder if I'd be brave enough to get on a scooter. On another note, let me comment on something that saddens me - how so many Chinese viewers, whether they are Chinese citizens or ethnic Chinese who came from China or been to China, thank vloggers like you for "telling the truth about China." And that's because of the incredible hatchet job the western media, especially in the United States, has done on China. It should be a text-book example that "free" press can be just as much of a propaganda tool (indeed a more effective one because it is so much better at it) and certainly in no way should be necessarily equated with truth. Hopefully this too shall pass.

    So good for the kids… Excellent video. Likewise I’ve been doing the same for my Son, but not only to China, but everywhere. But China is special as my Son is 50% Chinese. These experiences is the hope for humanity… it is these types of Americans that keep my faith in Americans alive. It is so so rare. These can be the potential future peace makers. Education and awareness so one doesn’t get so easily fooled by MSM and their globalist overlords. Plan on going back again in 2024 with family for the 4th time 😊

    It is interesting to find there are Chinese totem poles similar to the Native American totem poles. It is thought the Native Americans migrated from Northern China/Siberia to America by crossing the Bering Strait when it was a land bridge about 20,000 to 30,000 years ago.

      Guilin to Yangzhao, Speed train: only 25 minutes. Just look up 12306. Over 20 trains from 10.00 to 16.00 passing through Guilin and Yangzhuo. I am also planning the trip to Guilin+Yangzhuo from Hong Kong, most probably start at ShenZhen North station.

    There's a really nice tasting sauce called "Guilin Chili Sauce" I bought locally in CA and now, I know where it's from. I like your video presentation because it looks real, and not professionally edited with flowery scenes and music add-ons. It feels like a real family outing. It's also kinda short.

    • @heyili1502
      @heyili1502 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ah yes, "Guilin Chili Sauce" is one of Guilin's specialties. There are three specialties in Guilin, Guilin Sanhua Wine, Chili Sauce and Lipu Taro. The chili sauce is honestly nothing (it is very common in Guangxi to find chopped chili sauce), and if you have the chance, I really suggest you try the Lipu taro. This type of taro comes from Lipu County in Guilin and is unique to this area (that is to say, it can only be grown under the soil and water conditions here). It is unique to this place and is bigger and tastier than other places (and I mean other places in China because taro is a common potato food in China, I have never seen it abroad and I'm not sure if it's sold).
      If you have a chance to go, I truly suggest you must try this locally in Guilin, you are guaranteed to love it.
      Of course there are many other famous Guilin foods, such as Guilin rice noodles, beer fish, etc. I think many travel brochures will write about it, but there is nothing much to say about Lipu taro, so I just recommend it to you.
      Finally welcome to visit China!

    • @daffyduck4195
      @daffyduck4195 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@heyili1502 , The Guilin sauce I bought, made by Lee Kum Kee company, is not like any other chili sauce. It's not like Siracha nor the regular red chili sauce. It has a special aroma, (perhaps (?) hoisin sauce, garlic, chili, etc) I bought it out of curiosity and it really enhances my dishes, many dishes. I'll look for the Lipu Taro in the States.

    Yeah... I LOVE ❤ CHINA too... China has always been top on my list for my holiday travels. But I selfishly prefer that the western media stay away from China, so that we can see more of the China brands (and not MacDonalds, Walmart and Starbucks). I'd rather stay home if I have to eat burgers and drink Starbucks which I'm already so sick of....😂

    Its wonderful to see your family experiencing the marvels of China. Its a huge country with unique landscapes. And like most countries, regular folks who live there are curious and friendly. But the premise is a little insulting to be honest. Not even the most Sino-phobic person in the world would think there isn't beautiful places and good eats in China. Geopolitics matters. Why would mainstream media in the West write a puff piece about amazing places in China when there are amazing places elsewhere? Demonizing any country is bad but it makes little sense for Western media to promote China's beauty. To be more cryptic, China has a soft-power deficiency.

      When the US government have an $500 million on anti-China rhetorics, It’s called state and sponsored propaganda. Journalists are supposed to report the truth and reality regardless, not lies and deceptions. That’s why increasingly number of its citizens no longer trust the corporate media.

    The pace was too 'abrupt' and 'random' throughout the video that it actually gave me a slight headache. Just when I was beginning to take in the overall feel or scenery of a particular section, the video just moved on at warp speed to the next one.
