Redd Volkaert has played with Haggard for 20+years. He is a first call player by the movers and shakers in Nashville. He can do things with a guitar most people have not even considered.
He is a Grammy Award player that he received for his dual album with Brad Paisley.
    This man is pure AWESOME.
Look at some of the other vids here of him playing.

I saw Redd play in Austin about three weeks ago in a neighborhood food truck food court. He's still playing his weekly gigs at the Continental Club. Outstanding, down to earth guy and one hell of a guitar player.

That Tele with the Charlie Christian pickup is a '53 model that Redd has had since he was a teenager. Put in the CC pickup himself way back when without realizing that it cut the guitar's value in half. Redd is a good friend, I've had many lessons with him.

Redd is a player that has played with a list of Artists that he has worked for.
Perhaps that longest gig was as Merle Haggard's guitar player. He is an awesome
player. But he also is a genuine down to earth man. Very kind, and humble, yet he has Grammy's on his desk and other awards for his work. He lives in Austin Texas and I don't know if he still does this, but he and Cindy Cashdollar play at the Continental Club on Sunday afternoons. They draw huge crowds.
    Great heart, great man.

@spider62able Yep, and it certainly is not limited to the style of country, though guys like Scotty Anderson have elevated double-stop playing to some pretty high plateaus.
In this case, Redd plays a lot of "sixths" (root + a major/minor sixth up), which carries a characteristically country sound no matter what setting you want to bring them into.

A 6th is an interval. A double-stop is any two notes played together. In this case the interval (distance) between these two notes is a sixth. Keep jamming, bro! :)
