Redd Volkaert - guitar and vocals, Adam Clark - drums & Dylan Locke - bass
From country and western-swing to jazz and rock, Redd Volkaert is considered a true giant of country music and the Telecaster guitar. Redd is a Grammy-winner and a guitar-playing legend who is renowned throughout the country music world and beyond. Volkaert once played in Merle Haggard’s backing band The Strangers in the spot previously manned by Roy Nichols. In addition, he has recorded and performed with a who's who of country music stars such as George Jones, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens, Alison Krauss, Bill Kirchen and many more!
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Redd spent more than a decade in Nashville, playing with the likes of Ray Price, The Statler Brothers and eventually behind Merle Haggard. Volkaert moved to Austin, Texas, where he lived for some 20 years, including performing at Austin’s famed Continental Club every weekend. From western-swing to jazz and rock, Redd is considered an icon on the Telecaster with numerous guitar models named after him. In addition to his seamless ability to conjure up a vast array of complex guitar styles, Redd is beloved for his trademark wit and sense of humor. Redd now lives in Galax, Virginia, and performs internationally in addition to his residency at The Floyd Country Store in Floyd, Virginia.

Hands down, my favorite Tele player of this era. Real music.
No need for a rhythm guitar with Redd's tele on the job! He carries the whole thing!
When ya got rhythm, ya got rhythm...
Redd and his trio are so great. I need to make the trek out there to see this in person.
He’s at strum in Portland pretty soon!
Let me know when you come to Floyd!
We just saw them last week on our way to North Carolina. Fantastic!
I play in three-piece bands, and find it very difficult to leave much space in the music. It always sounds to me far too empty if we're not all thrashing away on our instruments, but just look at this! Less is more!
Try not playing and leaving the bass and drums to hold
Down the fort. If you don’t hear anything don’t add. Don’t let your muscle memory take over and just play bs. Think it, say it/ sing it play it!
What Haku said! And if the room has folks dancing, try keying on their aggregate rhythm for phrasing cues. Let your hands follow your eyes and ears. The brain can relax.
Fellow you know you bad! Bad as in good. I grew up on R&B and Soul, Jazz, Pop, Rock and all that, but after watching Redd jam so masterfully on his guitar along with his awesome bass and drums I am captivated with his extraordinarily entertaining skills!
This has to be the best version of Hello Walls I've ever heard. I'm in love with the nods to jazz in your solo Sir!
This has to be one of the most wholesome concerts ever
Such a great guitar player ..!
Yes, Redd is a true pro!
I wonder if the dancers are aware of what a great band is playing for their enjoyment. This trio is just amazing, especially Redd, the singer and guitarist.
Of course they are. That's why they're there.
Great trio! As always, Redd just kills, solid bassist has a deep groove & the drummer swings.
Everybody loves chicken picking but I love and grew up on pretty picking like this from some of some great Nashville players . I like the old school picking .. IN and OUT leads .. meaning play your part and get out ... Not jumble a bunch of notes together 🤷🏻♂️
How can these 3 sound this good coming out of tiny speakers on a phone? Amazing.
Thank you!
I always look forward to your concerts Redd and co. So musical 👌😊
I can't stop smiling.
Redd has a pretty decent voice...It must be his very good musical pitch he had since a child faking reading music with his guitar teacher at 12. No wonder he's such a good player, he hears ahead of time what the notes should be...
Mr. Red and I met at my machine shop once. He was so laid back and humble. I was unaware he was just that talented.
Redd is such a total pro. Unrelated note: met him backstage at the Continental over 10 years ago...cool guy.
I'm a recent convert! Redd is my daily mantra! From the ❤
Greetings from Northern Ireland--super sound from Red and the band
That is one awesome musician
Awwww, I sure do miss that sweet voice Redd Volkaert ❤️
Some fine licks 👍🏻
Redd kicks major ass :)
Great stuff, hope to see you in Finland again! All the best for You Redd!
Sounding fantastic! Nice job fellows.
Lovin’ it!
Real music! ❤
Thank You very much!
👍👍👍👍
He sounds like I want to sound ..
I thought Redd said he doesn't bring the old Teles out any more. Sure is a treat seeing and hearing this old gem. The bass is not loud enough and the bass player is confident and a good player. An amp with heavy duty speakers like in the Mark Bass stuff, there should be more bottom...
Listen on headphones - plenty there.
you shouldnt need headphones if stage volume is correct
@@linkedup7346 I was commenting on the video. I was not at the gig. Were you there?
wheres Nick, the drummer from last time?
Got fired for changing the lyrics to a Townes Van Zandt song. 😁
Jk. Nick was great
@@cironicholas526 😜 missed his singing though
:-)))))@@cironicholas526
no Virginia is 10 hrs from me
being Im a long time bassist, I could tell Redds bass player was moreorless hiding behind his notes
I love redd but they don't look like they are having any fun...
Lovin’ it!
