    I run the 1723 monitors behind my screen, and 4 1723 surrounds.
    Mind blowing to me that almost 3 years after I bought mine Arendal prices have increased almost 35%. With that said, I love them.

    I've been in the DIY market for some time now, and not so long ago I built a subwoofer. It was a single 12-inch driver powered with a 250-watt amplifier, and just with that I was able to hit 110 db at 20Hz, please keep in mind that the room I was using was probably around 1/3 of your theater room and the seating area is somewhere in the middle of the room. After around 17Hz it had a pretty steep slope. But if I wanted it to go all the way down to 7Hz, it could only play around 100 dB peak. I'm planning on building a second one with an upgraded amplifier hoping that I will reach 115db. But now compared to this subwoofer, I'm pretty impressed with what I have accomplished!

    In my opinion, you can absolutely get a wonderful experience with 5.1 (or 5.2). The surrounds are enough to really immerse you quite a lot more than just 2.0 or 3.1. Is a system with twice those channels better? Obviously, yes, but 5.1 is pretty damn nice and already much better than your average home system. There are a lot of cheap soundbars out here, or even (gawd help us) built-in TV sound.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      100% agree. You can achieve a phenomenal experience with 5.1

    Good review. If you had to choose, would you go with the towers+center, or matching monitors (behind AT screen). Towers for LCR are not an option for me.

    • @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions
      @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely, i would go for monitors configured as LCR. As its still more than enough to provide best performance. Especially when fed with an external Amplifier. Towers don't benefit much (in comparison to monitors) when using the same 80hz for speakers.

    • @MadLadsAnonymous
      @MadLadsAnonymous 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@audiodynamicsmaxsolutions What do you mean monitors configured as LCR? So, three monitors with one as a center on its side?
      If so, why not the Arendal 1723 THX Center?
      Just curious!

    • @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions
      @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MadLadsAnonymous @MadLadsAnonymous Hi. Monitors configured as LCR mean: placing each monitor to set up as left speaker, right speaker, center speaker.
      1723 center monitor model is the same as 1723 monitor. Same spinorama too. I don't suggest using the monitor even the center monitor model to place ( it's orientation)as horizontally( this doesnt provide wide spread of consistent frequency response but does provide vertically). Just place it as a monitor (tall orientation). As that gives wider and pretty much consistent frequency response while compromise on vertical frequency response consistency.

    An accurate and high quality 5.x system is the foundation for a cinematic experience and will be incredible for most audiences. Anything beyond that is gravy but won't necessarily guarantee a better experience, especially if the equipment is low quality/budget... You'll just be surrounded by even more bad sound.

    Will I absolutely need an amp for these speakers or will my Onkyo TX-NR6100 be sufficient enough?

    • @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions
      @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi. I would suggest if you could connect your Front left & Right speakers as well as center channel to be connected with an external amplifer (if on budget : BasX A3). If you could afford: emotiva basx A11 is more than enough to feed every speaker the required power effortless by the amp than the avr.
      These arendals do require power Amplifier in order to maximize its performance. You'll definitely notice clarity and better dynamics reproduction whatever listening volume you listen to.

  • @emotive7

    I bought the 1723 S towers and am enjoying them, but I'm wondering if I should send them back for the larger 1723 tower. We are trying to finish our theater room, where they'll eventually be, that is 14 x 18. Wondering if I'll need more volume.

    • @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions
      @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not necessary. As long you use the speakers with an external Amplifier and even you drive them to reference. It plays effortless by the Amplifier. No need to get a tower version. Anyhow you'll be using crossover. No point in getting a tower as it doesn't not even have higher sensitivity than bookshelf or monitors have.

  • @dynamodav
    @dynamodav 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Shouldn’t those rear surrounds me more to the side of you rather than way back? It’ll sound better if they’re just behind the seating position, against the side ways and pointed towards the center seating position. What I saw in the video they’re too far rearward. Curious to know what you think?

    • @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions
      @audiodynamicsmaxsolutions 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi.
      The actual speaker layout for 5.1 configuration (placement for surround speakers) would be to place corners of the room. That's how it's supposed to be placed. Because dolby rendered the surround speakers as back speakers. Where it conveys surround as well as surround backs. So it needs to be slightly behind you 120⁰ or corners of the room is what it's preferred as standard.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Audio Dynamics is correct. Take a look at this 5.1 layout. The surrounds are 110 - 120 degrees - www.dolby.com/about/support/guide/speaker-setup-guides/5.1.4-hybrid-overhead-atmos-speaker-setup-guide/
      If you have a 7.1, the sides are 90 - 110 degrees to provide more separation between the sides and rear surrounds.

    Is this the review or will there be more videos? Given their reputation and acclaim, I thought these deserved a lot more attention for a review. More measurements, comparisons, etc.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the review. Over the past 6 years, I have only measured subwoofers. There are other channels that can provide measurements for them. Also, my reviews rarely are comparing to another product as I feel each review can stand on its own merit.

    • @stephenphillips1660
      @stephenphillips1660 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with Adam. This review was a disappointment. The most obvious comparison would be the 1723 towers with your Martin Logan F200s. I think the fact that they are a sponsor is making you reluctant to express any real criticism.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Their sponsorship was for 3 months and ended DEC 1st. If you go back and look at the speaker reviews I have on my channel, none of them have direct AB comparisons with another brand. Any time I compare speakers would be a separate comparison video, not in the review itself as a speaker should be reviewed on its own merit.

      @stephenphillips1660 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There is an important equation in home cinema that No reviewer seems to promote ( until now 😁 thanks👍) and It's the quality or immersion proposition... A 5K 5.1 system for example will always sound much better than a 5K 7.2.4 system... People will happily allocate 6 amplifiers and 6 speakers to the height channels which represent less than 3% of the total sound whilst only allocating 5 or 7 bed layer speakers for the remaining 97% of sound...

      In my living room (don’t have a dedicated theatre) I listen anywhere between -32 to -26 (depending on the streaming service / content / physical disc)

      How is this a yawn or an advertisement because they cannot compare to JTR? JTR cost almost twice as much.
      If I compare everything I review to JTR, very few will be able to come close to their performance.
      I review everything on its own merit sharing the things I like and dislike about a product. I do my best to provide enough info so that consumers can decide for themselves whether or not a product is a good fit for them.

      @@Youthman The lack of any comparison to JTR sucks. You have them in-house, so you could have easily said how the speakers do or don't compare, regardless of price tag. Its interesting as users to hear what you get for the extra money and what edge (if any), Arendal has.
      I know you didn't like to draw any comparisons re: JTR & Perlisten as you said it was audio memory but you have an oppurtunity with both in room to give an honest analysis and cross comparison of the products.
      Everyone by now knows Arendals sound good. Its more cross comparisons which are useful, this day in age.
      I know you need to stay on good terms with most brands, so cross comparing will obviously hurt that - but I think it'll provide far more valuable content to potential buyers.

      @@ffdfdfdfdfdfdfdf Comparisons of products is usually done on a like for like bases, people shopping for 1k speakers won't be helped much by comparing them to 3k speakers, especially when bias, diminishing returns and subjective listening is added into the equation... Keep it simple I say 😊👂🔊

      It has zero to do with keeping brands happy. If that were the case, I wouldn’t ever point out shortcomings in a product.
      I have something better for you. Come to MWAVE and hear them all for yourself and make your own conclusions.

      Great video. I’m still on a 5.1 system and don’t really have the urge to go beyond maybe a 5.1.4 system just adding the height for some better effects and spaciousness. I’m not willing to spend a lot of money on extending to the height channels so until I really get the urge I’ll stick with 5.1.
