Hi Steve, I'd never really tried Spanish food before (apart from paella) but it was absolutely brilliant! A return trip is justified just for the food.
Absolutely beautiful. I had a brother in law (sadly RIP) who lived in one of the "white villages" in the hills above Malaga. We really loved the area - the food, the climate, the people. You need to get away from the Costa to see the real Spain. Thanks for showing us around. I must return for another visit, and your video, as always, has inspired me. Thanks a lot Scott.
….and how could I forget the most memorable of all for me was a visit to to the "La Mezquita" in Cordoba. A Cathedral built inside a Mosque!!! Absolutely stunning!!
Hi Scott, I am so proud you liked my country! I am from Navarre, you should visit the north of Spain too, yet it is true that there is nothing like the light of Valencia, lovely footage! Personally I had a similar attraction for the dimmer yet beautiful light on the heathers and hills precisely when I took the early morning coach in your homeland from Glasgow to Fort William, seeing Loch Lomond, Glencoe, Ballachulish, Loch Lihnne for the first time really struck me and made me love Scotland (I spent a year in Fife afterwards!). I guess we're all attracted to what we find different from our homes. I travelled a lot on the local buses and trains every weekend, I also loved the regional buses in Fife (St Andrews to Craill, Anstruther and Elie was personally my fav day trip, grabbing some fish and chips or a good Arbroath Smokie on the way!) Thanks for all! Love travelling with your videos
Absolutely stunning. You're so right. It's very similar to many parts of Italy, where I've been living for many years. I've been lucky to have visited nearly every region of Italy and I'm sure you'd fall in love with it too. The life-style, food, culture and people are amazing, not forgetting the weather. I've already been to Barcelona and am hoping to visit the south of Spain and Portugal next year.
I enjoy your videos very much & always look out for the latest content. As a travel enthusiast I too love the Med & Spain in particular... There is something about the Spanish lifestyle that is easy to fall in love with. Great choice of music for this video which added colour to your content... Keep up the good work... Vince
Just come back from 5 days in Valencia. Lovely place, and yes I was in shorts, the locals were in winter coats and woolly hats. Keep travelling my friend.
I really miss Spain and the beautiful hilltop villages. Get away from the tourist places there are so many more places which are fantastic. So laid back and friendly. You need to go to Sagunto just further up from Valencia. Village at the top of the hill and a Roman amphitheatre.
Been all over the med area... European and African side...it's just bloody marvelous...it's everything...food, languages, smells, cultures.... I like Australia too....😂
Hi Scott, I think u r an amazing TH-camr that puts awesome content on here. You should come to Australia 1 day and we could both go on an adventure together
I noticed how bright the sun is in LA compared to the U.K on my recent trip, also across the US I had at least 3 people ask me for directions. I need to visit this part of Spain as well.
What an absolutely gorgeous place, and the views from the castle were stunning, as you said! I have to say, you edit your pieces very skilfully, Scott. This was really enjoyable. On the subject of places to visit in Spain, the "Driving over Lemons" area around Orgiva is beautiful.
Great video tour, those hairpin bends instantly reminded me of the Hailey Brae going out of Largs. Also I smiled at the lassie in the cafe drinking exactly in time with Scott. 🙂
I lived in Valencia for a year in the early 90s teaching english. Loved every minute. There are parts of Spain which are so different to the rest of Europe that you feel you could be anywhere on the planet. Try the beatiful old town of Cadiz (Golden Eye was filmed here as it is so similar to Havana) and the nearby mountain village of Medina Sedonia. You will love it there.
Like yourself, I've grown to quite like Spain over the past few years - Tend to find myself further down in Malaga but had spent some time in Valencia - I'm going to have to go back there now to visit Xativa, looks amazing!
I absolutely love the Mediterranean. We have stayed Pineda Da Mar along the coast from Barcelona and visited many of the coastal towns, all very beautiful in their own individual way.
I used to spend a lot of time right around the Spanish coast in the MN in 1960/61, it was VERY different in those days and NOT many tourists. I loved it! Thanks, Scott. Cheers from Aus.
@@antifugazi Beautiful city, Gibralfaro Castle has amazing views of the city and out to sea and has a wonderful little cafe. One of my favourite places 🙂
We visited the castle back in 2018 in May and it’s quite a trip. We do love that part of the world and would recommend you go out of season before it gets too hot. I would strongly recommend Seville with a day trip to Córdoba. Cadiz isn’t bad. I like the weather, food and the sunshine.
A very honest almost moving video thank you. It was almost as if your eyes had been opened to a new something, amazing to watch. Glaswegian ex-pal 7 years in Fuerteventura.
Great stuff from the East end of Glasgow. Xativa does indeed look smashing and totally worth a visit. My favourite place is a wee village called Cabanas next to Tavira in the Algarve, check it out. Happy trails.👍
The end of march I visited Spain. Did the classic Andalusia round trip : Sevilla-Granada-Cordoba. In Sevilla it was a very pleasant 24 celcius while back home it was still snowing. At the end of a long day of sight seeing I just put my feet up in a park in the grass, had some empanada's and a bottle of wine. There happened to be orange trees all around in that park and some oranges had fallen off on the ground, overripe and burst open. This filled the air with this amazing orangy aroma and as the wine was beginning to do its job I thought... yeah... I get it!
Hi Scott , thanks gor your interesting video about Xativa.A new place to visit in the future. On the other hand, I strongly recommend you a very beautiful town: You should visit Salamanca , a plateresque , barroque town not far from Madrid. I'm sure you will enjoy the trip very much.
Another great video, Scott .Spain and the balecrics are my favourite parts of the med for many reasons their climate there pace of life (except for when they are driving) there food and its just a nice place to be at the beginning of February I spent 3 days in alcantie I need to go back for a bit longer as there was quite a lot I missed out on due to time constraints
I know its a bit out of the way, but the fact that you love walking, good food and drinks, nice weather, plenty of nature, loads of walking places with views to die for, have you ever thought about Madeira Island? you can fly with Ryanair, Easy jet, Wizz, Jet2, TUI, from all England and in Scotland, Glasgow and Edinburgh, stay on a Airbnb, I'm sure you would love it, and the followers would be thrilled.
Scott, the most beautiful part of Spain is the region of Andalucía. Seville, Jerez, Malaga, Cadiz, Rhonda and Granada are all well worth a visit and all are accessible by train. We used Malaga as a base and explored the region from there, you would need a month to do the region justice
Hi Scott thanks for another excellent video which i enjoyed so much. My favourite country in the Med has to be the beautiful country of Malta. The island is steeped in history and the Maltese people are so friendly and the building are so beautiful.
Great video as always Scott. Yes Spain is simply stunning isn't it. We've just come back from a 5 week trip in the car. Even when the temperature is minus 2, the countryside looks the same from inside the car - total sunshine and not a single ice crystal.
For me it has to be Mediterranean France. I’m sure you are probably already aware that Ryanair are flying from Prestwick to Marseille this year. A great city, typical port, it’s a bit rough round the edges and well worth a visit if you’ve never been. Inland you have many beautiful cities such as Avignon, Arles and Aix en Provence that you can get lost in for a day. I think you would enjoy.
Hi Scott from Spain. Yes we live here but a little further west from where you are, we're in the Province of Jaén, the world's largest producer of extra virgin olive oil (that's the real stuff, not just labelled as such to get a higher price!) What do we like about Spain? It is quieter and less hurried than life was in UK and probably safer.
Thank you kindly for sharing this superb video Scott. I hope you will also visit Morocco and think you would enjoy the trip by train from Tangier to Casablanca very much indeed.
hey scott, i went to freiburg in germany with my parents very nice area with lots of public transport (trams) right least the ice train db is always delayed, but fortunately there is an airport in freiburg with kind regards from wietze braem from Adinkerke, Belgium
I had the privilege and pleasure of living and working in Malaga for 6 years at the beginning of this century. Apart from good weather most of the time, less expensive living costs, better roads and transportation and a much better diet at affordable rates it also possessed a much more relaxed and less stressful ambience. I’m afraid I still think of it as home much more than I did UK whilst I was there. Of course, there weren’t the Brexit problems then. I despise those politicians who have denied those opportunities to my children and grand-children. Incidentally, how come Spanish (and Portuguese) railway stations have walls of frescoes and tiles whilst British terminals have dirt and graffiti-covered brick?
If you're 60+ you can get a Spanish Railcard Scott, just take you're passport to a booking office at any station. I did this in Seville last year it cost 6 euro for 12 months and you get 40% discount on rail travel!
There is a treasure trove of places to visit in the South of Spain and Portugal. You can explain how the area is far more than Torremolinos, Benidorm or even Marbella! Much more attractive and interesting places.
I think its an age thing. As kids we were taken to the Costas, and never really appreciated the real Spain. But once you venture into the art and architecture: eat Spanish food, drink better quality wine. Well thats when you begin to fall in love with Spain. And then you discover Al Andalus.
its not difficult to fall in love with that Spanish lady, i also found a lot more cleanliness on the streets squares and parks than in the UK for sure.
Spain is far too religious for me to like as a non believer spiritual man i did like Blanes on the costa brava when they had the peseta currency under juan carlos in the 80’s lol
What do I love about that region? All of what you said... the sun, the people, the laid back attitude... It's beautiful.
Absolutely incredible place and so well captured, cheers Scott!
Oh man your breakfast!!!!! Spanish food is my favourite
Hi Steve, I'd never really tried Spanish food before (apart from paella) but it was absolutely brilliant! A return trip is justified just for the food.

Definitely do more Spain! The far South with the North African influences and estramadura with the rugged rural scenes are unbelievable
Seville has a place in my heart. such lovely people , fab food and history everywhere.
I agree, but avoid going in summer: you will fry.
Hello! Wonderful and very interesting video! I love the Valencia railway station architecture!
You always find the best places.
Xativa looks amazing. Thanks for sharing your adventures in Spain.
Thanks!

Great video of your 4 day visit. Inspiring stuff. 👍👍⭐️⭐️🍊🍊 from 🇦🇺
So many people visiting Spain stick to the coast, which is a shame when there is so much to see inland. Well highlighted Scott.

Beautiful country. Nice walk to the top and it was worth it.
Wonderful vlog about Xativa and good choice of background music👍

Nice video Scott...its the light in Spain that makes life there so great..especially in the winter. PS Xativa is pronouced with an H!
Or an Sh if you are a local.
Yes please for more Mediterranean! Your music is wonderful :)
Great video tour, those hairpin bends instantly reminded me of the Hailey Brae going out of Largs. Also I smiled at the lassie in the cafe drinking exactly in time with Scott. 🙂
I visited Italy in 2007. Amazing architecture, beautiful weather, tasty food, friendly people. Couldn't ask for much more than that :)
The sunshine in Spain is brighter than in Scotland..No S*** 😝

Yeaahh Spain i love it!! Have a nice time there!
We got palm trees in Gourock and Greenock!

Good video 😊
Spain is an absolutely beautiful country. Malaga and Cadiz are two of my absolute favourite places in the world.
I'm going to Malaga in a few weeks, never been but my girlfriend has loads, it actually looks very nice, and the beach looks ok also.

We go to Valencia for a month or 2 annually. We seem to always find time for a day trip to Xàtiva. Love it down there and love Valencia.
What a stunning place. Added to my bucket list.

This is superb! All your clips are good but this is one of the very best. Than-you.
Please Visit Majorca, it’s a wonderful Island.
Andalusia is fantastic too
In July of last year I think it was Spain got over 40c 44 I think was the highest

Don't forget Cordoba! Extremadura, particularly Caceres, too!
Fabulous. I can heartily recommend Catalonia. Has a unique feel about it.
Wow!
A lot of effort going up and up 5:50 .
That breakfast looks amazing!
Love to see more videos here it’s beautiful and tranquil
You cannot beat those parts of for food and drink
Love the music.

what does sintra have to do with the med though?
Tbh you should see the bar at Newcastle station. Mj

malta.
I'm off to Malaga in a few weeks, is everyone still wearing masks on public transport? Are there still mask rules? Just because I saw you wearing one.
Fools wear face diapers.
Pretty sure that empanada you were eating was tuna and not salmon!
2 min train in vid rest walking around?
This channel is more about the destination rather than the journey, despite it's name.
Scott grew up in a war torn country full of people no one could understand outside the country and full of mixed weather.. the other was Syria..... 🤣
11:45 creepy
