Gary Neville managed Valencia once, back in 2015. It was one of the most disasterous mangerial spells in Spanish football. Poor Valencia have never recovered.
Vintage stadium, vintage video! I find Spanish football atmospheres a bit underwhelming, but always enjoyable football. And love how everyone takes a bocadillo to the game, so much better than pies :)
By coincidence attended the same game whilst visiting the city. Suspect confusion on KIck Off time was because it probably listed UK time when buying the ticket whilst in the UK, the game was always going to be a 9pm local (8pm UK) kick off. Very enjoyable video as per usual, just a shame didn’t bump into Scott.
Excellent video, Scott! I like strong coffee. ☕☕ I was rooting for the away team. Just because Valencia had most of the fans the game being at home, and they had the home advantage inevitably.
That's a wind band, and I played with them, once, when really rather drunk in 1987 (Sometimes I feel really old) Enjoyed the video as always. And I really liked Valencia too. Though playing one night in the bull ring was scary. I reckoned they'd just open the big doors if they didn't like us. I'd maybe have made it but the tuba player had no chance. That was fun.
Some incredible footage there Scott. Always had a soft spot for Valencia but never been. Those seats are a shambles but the stadium is something else. A few more euros hopefully gets you a longer way next time 😉
Hi Scott, went out here to watch Arsenal in May 2019(perfect time of year! 🌞) and they put us right up with the gods, too! Luckily we won 5-2! Amazing stadium, fans and club though. Sad to see them doing so badly at the moment. Great video.
That's the view from the newcaste away end at st james' park LOL A brass band outside White Hart Lane wouldn't go amiss either. Something you don't see everyday!
Well done me old mate, at least you got to see some goals (what else do you want when abroad watching a game in which you are a neutral?). Funnily enough I watched Celtic pummel St. Mirren today. You should have been there for them Scott! Call yerself a fan!
Valencia CF at one his worst history moments Vs Almeria, one of the 3 last teams on the table. All together on a cold Monday evening at 9PM and broadcastet by GolTV a free sports TV Channel that surely you could watch at your hotel room. This is real hardcore football stuff
For those wondering why a nearly sold-out game has so many empty seats... Valencia CF has a high number of season tickets' holders, around 35.000. So there aren't that many spare tickets for sale. And the people with the season tickets, if the match is not a high profile one and it's scheduled late on a week day, with bad weather on top (very cold night or heavy rain...) they are basically not gonna bother going and they will just stay home and watch it on TV.
The stands in Spain look steeper than anything permissible in UK grounds. No wonder the high railings are in place, or is it just the camera that makes it look that steep? It looks like it's a stadium that might be brilliant when full, although a little tired and outdated by modern standards.
Like when I went to watch New York Rangers play at Madison Square Garden, I saw one game in the cheap seats so for the other game I paid a bit extra and got much better seats just above ice level
valencia are basically the spanish arsenal one of the best teams around at one point came very close to winning champiosn league also, but haven't won a thing now in years, though that might change for arsenal soon, valencia not so much
its mental that now they’re having completely opposite seasons as valencia are now in the relegation zone and arsenal are on course to win the premier league, la liga honestly wont be the same to me without valencia next season
By coincidence I attended the same game whilst visiting the city. I suspect Scott paid 25 euros for an adult as that was the cheapest I could see on the Valencia website which as his video shows was up in the gods. I actually paid 38 euros for 2nd tier right behind one of the goals.
I thought for a second there that you would be going on about RyanAir or EasyJet and why you shouldn't pay in advanced for seats. Boy was I surprised when I watched this video!
Valencia a pale shadow of what they used to be when managed by Hector Cuper & then Rafa Benitez. Sad to see their decline as they were one of the teams in La Liga who would stand up to Real and Barca.
Valencia is a big one in down at heel. Various changes of the club property, debts with the new ground construction and poor sportive managment have turned into now. A club who was champions league finalist and several years being in top 4 at the end of the season fighting for avoiding relegation this season.
You took a chance filming the police i went there for a rangers game back in about 1979 and the police battered anyone taking photos no camera phone s back then game finished 1 each
If you ever wanna do a game in Italy go and see empoli is regarded as one of the worst stadiums in Europe they only get around 9 thousand per game but their ultra fans are a good bunch
Great video, as a football fan very interesting
I have no interest in football, but still enjoyed this! Thank you.
As someone who enjoys football and has seen many football vlogs I have to say this was my favourite. Bringing travel and football to TH-cam in style
Hi Scott, really enjoy the channel, this was a pleasant change as a football fan (Cmon Hibs). Keep it up.
Hibees 💚🇳🇬

Put that down to Peter lim and his shambolic ownership...
They were already on their way before then
Yep a disastrous appointment that everyone knew would fail. Couldn't speak Spanish, hadn't managed before. I mean it really couldn't work.
Peter lim is an Investor in Salford city too

Need to go to San Mamés
I've been to the Valencia stadium might still have the footage somewhere on an old vhs tape
Interesting video.
Looked a lot more civilised than the crowds we get in England
That's first time I been to a futbol game. Not a soccer fan. But I enjoyed it. Interesting on your travels all the time. Thank you Scott.
The cheap seats are often the best as you get full view of the pitch.
Pie-ella. nice one!

It’s a vintage stadium so well done overcoming the vertigo to bring us the experience of La Liga
“This is Amstel’s non alcoholic beer….and it’s absolutely disgusting! 😂😂😂 Same as every non alcoholic lager I’ve ever tasted Scott, loved the video!
Nothing wrong with Guinness 0.0
Was about to say same about Guinness 0.0

Great video Scott
You should do more football or sporting events whether its Athletics, Gaelic Games etc. Top review.
Some incredible footage there Scott. Always had a soft spot for Valencia but never been. Those seats are a shambles but the stadium is something else. A few more euros hopefully gets you a longer way next time 😉
I went here in 2004 when Valencia had won the Primera Liga and Uefa Cup
Hi Scott, went out here to watch Arsenal in May 2019(perfect time of year! 🌞) and they put us right up with the gods, too! Luckily we won 5-2! Amazing stadium, fans and club though. Sad to see them doing so badly at the moment.
Great video.
Aubameyang hat trick.
@@poppysherlock3922 that's the one! Did you go, too?
No but I remember the footage it seemed like a cauldron
@@poppysherlock3922 yes! The valencia fans made it a great atmosphere, fair play.
I can sense a possible theme given previous trips - travel to Highland/Lowland League games or St Mirren?
Great ground, and this club has history. From Kempes to Benitez. Real club.
That's the view from the newcaste away end at st james' park LOL A brass band outside White Hart Lane wouldn't go amiss either. Something you don't see everyday!
What’s the Spanish for ‘Restricted View’? What possesses sporting venues and theatres to put seats behind things that stop you from seeing the action?
They are not doing well in La liga. Currently in the relegation zone. Nice video, Scott, as always 👍
Well done me old mate, at least you got to see some goals (what else do you want when abroad watching a game in which you are a neutral?).
Funnily enough I watched Celtic pummel St. Mirren today. You should have been there for them Scott! Call yerself a fan!
Went to watch Liverpool there in the late 90s or early 00s. Finished 2-2 and Liverpool had 2 players sent off
Biggest attendance a st mirren fan has ever been in after celetic and rangers
Can't wait to see Clachnacuddin F.C. play Valencia 😂😂😂
One of those spider cams was hit by a ball during a Six Nations match.
And one actually crashed into a Cricket player during an international match these past few months.
It could be worse. Ive sat behind the goal there and its terrifying.

Well done Scott. Still and all, I think I'd prefer a lukewarm Bovril at Grant Street Park whilst watching the Lilywhites...
"This is Amstel's non-alcoholic beer and it's absolutely disgusting."
Great video unfortunately your home team didn't do too well today.
Are you a St Mirren fan the same way Chick Young also claims to be one?
The Mestalla stadium not bad however not a patch on the old Love St 👍 ⚽
Better than the clach game!👍
St mirren??.... jesus....🤯
Like when I went to watch New York Rangers play at Madison Square Garden, I saw one game in the cheap seats so for the other game I paid a bit extra and got much better seats just above ice level
I had that Amstel 0% whilst watching Portimonense in Portugal. My stomach wished my throat had been cut. Nasty stuff.

Good that Amstel provide total consistency throughout their beer range. Alcohol or not it's all f@cking awful.
Valencia have fallen into the relegation zone since this was filmed. Crazy for such a big club.
to me, valencia are one of THE defining la liga clubs and i really hope they stay up cos imo they’re too big to go down
Please go to a St Mirren game
Super video Scott, how much was the ticket if you didn’t mind me asking 🤔
Yeah seems a pertinent piece of information missed there mate
By coincidence I attended the same game whilst visiting the city. I suspect Scott paid 25 euros for an adult as that was the cheapest I could see on the Valencia website which as his video shows was up in the gods. I actually paid 38 euros for 2nd tier right behind one of the goals.

Do they have oxygen that high.

Great video as always but both teams have seriously fallen since filmed.
Oft. St Midden 🤣🤣

IFK Göteborg - Valencia 2-0; Valencia - IFK Göteborg 0-1 1982 !
The Spanish love a brass band.
You took a chance filming the police i went there for a rangers game back in about 1979 and the police battered anyone taking photos no camera phone s back then game finished 1 each
Mate, you are talking 44 years ago!! When Spain had just come out of a dictatorship! Things have changed quite a bit since then.
Both teams seriously at risk of relegation now!
If you ever wanna do a game in Italy go and see empoli is regarded as one of the worst stadiums in Europe they only get around 9 thousand per game but their ultra fans are a good bunch
Teach you for being a typical vlogger a cheap skate
U better not get a nose bleed up ther nosey boink god help them bellow
I have been there, the stadium is an utter shithole!
At half time, your predicted score looked like wishful thinking.
Yeah but how much was the cheap seat? Probably slightly more than a disgusting pint of alcohol free Amstel I guess!
