I have a question I'm hoping you or someone here can answer... how do we go about ordering more than 5 proof copies? If a publicist for example requests 20 copies (as pre-publication ARCs), would we need to print 5 then repeat the process, or can you only print 5 more after a change to the file has happened? Thanks!
Like so many here, you answered precisely the questions Inhad concerning printed proofs. Im about yo publish my first book on KDP! Hmm. I just might be a subscriber...
Silly question but are you then setting the publish date for two weeks or more out so you have time to review the hardcopy of your book before it's available online? (for Ingramsparks)
Mandi, Can you talk to us about paper type? I’m about to finish my book, but I haven’t worked on my cover. So I would love for you to talk about paper types and common mistakes self-publishers make on the cover. I have my photo, title, subtitle, blurb, short author reviews, but I haven’t put it together. Thanks for all your wisdom and enthusiasm.
Hi Mandi, would you be able to do a video like this for Draft2Digital?? They’ve made some changes over the years I think, so it would be interesting to know how the process is.
Thanks for the video, really helpful! One question: I’d like to order a physical proof copy of my book from Ingram and before I approve ebook proof, I need to click on either approving title for printing, distribution and sale.or approving for printing from orders placed by my account only. Once I know the book is okay I will do the distribution, but do you know if it makes a difference to ordering a physical proof copy if I click the for distribution box and I see problems on the physical book?
Loving all your videos, thank you so much! After discovering that the world of literary agents is like talking with the walls, Im 100% going to self publish it, life is too precious to wait on other people to make our dreams come true! 🥰🥰
Great and informative video. I am having an issue where, in KDP, I ordered the proof and like an hour later got the email saying that the proof was ready for checkout. However, when I click on the link it takes me to the right market place from where I ordered the proof from but the cart is empty. Have you encountered a situation like that? It's been around 18 hours since I requested the proof and around 17 hours since I got the email. Thanks.
Although I have selected a release date, will the book be visible to the public if I were to select "publish my paperback" to get a proof without "not for resale"?
A proof copy needs an ISBN but the publication date and price of the book are not yet final, so I must “guess” in order to get the number assigned. Can this information be changed before publication on ingramspark, or am I locked into the information I initially provided? Thank-you!
Hey question, so i was just wondering if any proof copy’s offer an online option proof. I am visual impaired first time author and i was just wondering if they had this option with print or if i can get in bigger font for the proof. Let me know know this was very helpful
Hi, I just published my first novel as a KDP paperback. But in India, they don't have printing facilities, so I had to choose the US as the primary marketplace. I want to have some author copies, and to do that, I've got to choose the same marketplace as the primary marketplace, right?
@@MandiLynnWrites Another hurdle I found there was that, while the shipping and billing addresses were correct, I had to go into them and add a phone number (which was blank by default).
Do you mean publishing to KDP and IngramSpark? If so, the answer is you can do both! Just make sure you purchase your own ISBN and use that ISBN on IngramSpark and KDP to make sure your book doesn't get published twice in Amazon because you used two different ISBNs.
So you cannot order proofs on either Amazon or Ingramspark until your book is published? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of making last minute changes after looking at your book as a printed book, BEFORE it's published?
@@MandiLynnWritesHi Maddi, Hope you are well, im new to this channel and i was a little lost on the ingram spark parts, i dont really understand what its used for, Does it have more benefits than kdp?
Any time you make a new video, I am happy.
This video couldn’t have come at a better time! 🙌
Thank you for this video!!
This video came just at the right time! I'm ordering my proofs in the next week! Your videos have been so invaluable for every step of the way! 💚
Thank you very much to make such a good video for writers.
You've got some serious skills! Thanks for sharing. 😍😍
Does a approved proof mean review will be approved?
Thank you for sharing your talent ❤❤
This was helpful, Mandi - thank you!

How long does it take to receive the book?
Usually a week or two depending on the book. Hardcovers take longer to print than paperback.

Is an ISBN needed to order a proof copy on Ingramspark?
Thanks for the video, really helpful!

What about getting author copies of the electronic versions?
You can email your book to your kindle account to view it on an ereader

On KDP can you order proof copies of different print qualities of the same manuscript in one order? I’d like to compare b/w vs standard vs premium
Yes, but you'd need to submit them all at the same time because you only have 24 hours to purchase your proof once you request it
@ thanks for the reply 👍 appreciate the generosity with which you share wisdom from your experience. Thank you.

You'd have to turn off distribution if you don't want it available to the public.
A proof copy needs an ISBN but the publication date and price of the book are not yet final, so I must “guess” in order to get the number assigned.

How much does KDP charge for the proofs? Is it just the printing costs or is it more?
The exact cost varies, but it's whatever the cost to print the book is. And shipping if you don't have Amazon prime.

Can you add the set up for Kdp to get copy proof so i can start this process to get closer to my desire pub date

Can I just have print copies with Ingramsparks? Because ebook is exclusive on Amazon right now
Were you able to order a copy immediately after approving your eproof? When I go to order a physical copy it doesn't show any copies in the cart.
No, it takes about an hour or so

Sorry, if that’s a crazy question. 🤷🏻♀️

KDP let's you order a proof copy before you publish. IngramSpark does as well if you set your publication date for the future.

If someone sells book for 6.5$ he will get only 1.2 or 1.3 $.
This is the case for everyone? Or only for beginners?
For everyone. I just made a video explaining how the royalty rate and print costs works
Hey, how do I go from a document of my book to a physical copy with a cover?
