I like your video. I can do Paperback, but every time I make my hardcover, I have a black line on the left side, which indicates my hinge is too wide, but I followed the directions. Can you please make a video about creating Hardcovers? Thank YOU 😊

This was very helpful. Thank you! Can you please make a tutorial on how to create a ebook cover from a paperback cover? I usually make my own paperback but I’m struggling to create an ebook from the paperback cover. TIA.

This is very helpful! However, I am confused about one thing. The Amazon Guide says you should save the PDF file using the Press Quality preset (and I see a lot of messages about this in forums), but you, Austin, and other TH-cam publishers recommend setting it to High Quality Print. It's so confusing for me. I don't understand why there are differences... Maybe you can explain, please?

I didn't actually notice this, and by using it the way I did, it turned out just fine for me. However, if you want to follow Amazon's suggestions, that would probably be the safest bet!

How do you know how many pages. I mean an ebook changes pages depending on screen size? Or is this only for print. My book at the moment is in scrivener so I am investigating how to format it, and do the book cover for print or for ebook.

I had different Manuscript files formatted for each version. This is only for the paperback. What I did for the ebook was take the 5x8 front cover and upload it to KDP once I had the ebook manuscript file uploaded. I hope this helps!

@@AustinPritchard Thanks I might design a test one in photoshop at 5x8.

Once you format the book and then generate the paperback pdf, you’ll know the number of pager and based on that you can create and down the paperback template. You can format it in adobe in design (works on MAC as well windows) or vellum (MAC compatible only) or Atticus (good for windows)

What dpi did you use for the image to make the cover?

I always like to use 300 dpi

Did you design you book cover in CMYK color mode? Or it was RGB and you changed it to cmyk when you saved the pdf file? Cause I have an RGB cover but cmyk color mode makes it so dull and grayish.

I did mine completely in RGB and saved it as a PDF for printing. I assume Amazon takes the cover and prints it in CMYK but I found that the colors for my book cover transferred over just fine. Could just be certain colors that don’t translate as well when printing.
