Just picked up a 2005 Vulcan 1500 FI for $1,200. 22,000 mi and cosmetically in mint condition. It's got a clutch problem that I'm going to look at soon, but the engine and the electricals are all healthy.
Hell yea sounds like a great project. These are great bikes to own and especially to learn how to fix
I love this bike. I’m going to look at a 2002 on Monday. If it checks out, it’s coming home with me. Just saw photos, if it runs as good as it looks, I’ll be a happy man come Monday. Great job in restoring this classic.

Have a V2K. 04 clattering 1st gear and 2nd in 2nd helps to double the clutch slips right in forums don't help ? Any info the good oil in crankcase is clear

I dont know exactly but a few things I would check. 1. Clutch cable or clutch slave cylinder. Cable could be stretched or slave cylinder could be not returning all the way. 2.shift linkage might be out of adjustment and your not getting the correct travel switching gears. 3 some of these Vulcans did have shift fork problems but I’m not sure what years or exactly how to diagnosed or repair
Would this be the same process for a 96 Vulcan 1500 having a hard shift from 1st to 2nd all other gears are fine likes to go 1st to N then struggles getting into 2nd any tips and info would be awesome
I'm not 100% sure this would fix that. Vulcans are known for shift fork issues in second gear. I believe that repair requires you to split the case. Hopefully its easier fix than that.

In my area there’s a 2000 Vulcan 1500 63k miles for 950 clean title. Sat for 2 years previous owner passed away. Would you touch it? Is it worth it?

Mark here, love the video! wish I had your knowledge and expertise man was wondering if you could tell me what causes a clunk in them vulcans when you shit up or down? got an 02 1500 with 23k on the clock and it seems like the more the engine is warmed up the louder it gets. It makes my not enjoy riding it cause of that reason and feel like something is on its way out!please let me know I'd appreciate it and keep up the good work! Thanks for your response back in advance 👍
its a shaft driven bike, the clunk is all the freeplay in the ,gears that transmit the drive, feathering the clutch minimises it

I agree, Kawasaki’s have very loud shifting. It is a definite clunk sound. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just takes getting used to

I would pull the shift linkage off and see if you can shift it with vice grips. jack the rear tire off the ground. If it shifts like that you just need to adjust shift likage.
I was wondering were your located in Ohio cause I have a Vulcan nomad 1500 that needs worked on bad if you can help.

@@armyguyz00 wow that’s a nice lil ways but I need a new cluch new brakes a tune up lines bleed with new oil and filter new spark plugs new air filter switched out to a big air intake and carbs cleaned lol I know it’s a lot

Hey, ah my 800 Vulcan has been parked for about 8 months tried to start it but it sounds like it has no gas but it does . I mean when I parked it it was working no problems it just doesn’t want to start. What could be the problem?
Change the fuel and battery, just in case both are bad. If that does not help then most likely the carb is gunked up. Whenever you leave your motorcycle for extended periods (like winter storage) it is recommended to empty the carb bowls if possible, or at the very least run them dry (fuel valve off and leave the bike running until it stalls from the lack of gas) to minimize the ampount of fuel that is left in the carb. Otherwise the modern ethanol gas vaporises and leaves behind a nasty gunk that gets sucked into the carb jets and clogs them up. That requites opening the carbs and cleaning them up.
I agree, prob the carb. If you try starting fluid in air filter and it runs I would plan on cleaning carb.

Thank you! I’m glad it looks like I know what I’m doing because I didn’t going into this project. Lol a lot of TH-cam videos and reading old forum posts. I learn best just taking stuff apart father than I’m comfortable, then figuring out how it goes back together. These bikes are a lot of fun and have been super reliable for me. Thanks for watching :)

I would jack bike up and take shift linkage off, see if you can shift it with a set of vice grips on the trans shaft. If you can you prob just need to adjust linkage, if not I would sell lol
