- The purpose is to extend the engine's life and prevent catastrophic failure. Also, we had a small chain slapping inside the engine. This motorcycle has 42,000 kilometers on it and runs extremely well.

This is the best video of this mod that I've seen yet! Outstanding! Moto Dans did a good one; yours is GREAT! I have a 2003 Mean Streak that I needs this, and your video is all I'll need. Thank you, thank you!!! Well done.
Super happy that we can help. Thank you.
very excellent video.
@@eliezermizaelchavezacevedo9937 thank you, If you like the video please Subscribe and like the video.
It is actually possible to remove the tensioner without popping the tank off. Just cut an allen key about 12mm so you can use it in the tight space under the snorkel.
Honestley I am not sure, I could be possible if it is please make a movie. Thank you.
@@weron021 i just did the mod myself on a 98 Classic Tourer, its a bit tough but i even did it without cutting an allen key.
@@Venoxis Excellent happy for you.
@@weron021 Thank you for the video, greetings from Germany !
@@Venoxis Thank you from Canada.
Thanks for the great video. What glue do you use?
We used red locktite
Can the cam chain tensioner be rebuilt before you put it back on the bike or is spacing a problem. I’m having a problem reconnecting the cap back on the tensioner due to the oil hose being in the way
It is the spacing problem, That is why we added spacer to it. Take your time with this. Hopfuly this helps out.
Thanks for the answer. One last one. I had to turn the cam chain tensioner at an angle to get it in. I have not turned it on, would that do any damage?
What ever you do do not turn the bike on with out the tentioner installed. Just have a look at the video and follow the instructions. Also what ever angel you took it out that is the angel it will have to go in. If not there is a potential for the damage. @@GRPPLRJORDAN
Another Cory H appearance?
You can do both without removing the tank or exhaust for real easy peazy job
That was our first time doing this, will you be able to make a video of how you did it without removing the tank and the exhaust. Please send me a link. Thank you.
I just finished mine without removing the exhaust or moving the cross over tube. The front tensioner was definitely a pain but it wasn’t terrible!
@@raygos17 excellent, and thank you for the feed back.
@@raygos17 Agreed (front one is a pain). Thanks for this video though, folks. I forgot the bearing goes in first.
Hi! How much millage has the bike?
42K
Where to get those part's?
You get them on Amazon. www.amazon.ca/Tensioner-Extenders-Kawasaki-Vulcan-Suzuki/dp/B08FMGKJFP?fbclid=IwAR2J2_ymwfFw69_fuSOuWz8v-rnyGkoSi6ENqJVOo3HBdfSzsvMHyIreII0
Amozon
Unfortunately, this is the wrong way to go - the timing chain has been undersized from the first model in '89 to the present day. The chain is getting longer and longer, so it only helps to lengthen the chain tensioner for a short time.
I have had very good experiences with DID chains, they are better than original Kawasaki chains.
What’s the purpose of the mod?
The purpose is to extend the engine's life and prevent catastrophic failure, Also we had a small chain slapping inside the engine.
Did you have apply tension to the chain in some way so it didn't lose position while the tensioner was out?
No, you do not have to, the chain hangs there, do it slow and you'll be fine.
There is no need to takeoff the gas tank. All you need to do is remove the air filter cover a little bit of patience and time you can get it off when you takeoff the tensioner cover for the left side of the bike behind the air filter cover, loosen it a little bit with a wrench and finish by hand. Be careful that you don’t loosen it too much because you’ll get the wrench stuff between the cover And the head
It was easier to get there when the tank was off, and at the same time, we inspected all of the hoses and connections. Thank you.
I don't know how you do it but I find it impossible to do it as you say... I tried to do it like that without removing the gas tank and I found it impossible.
Fantastic how to, it was nice to see/hear the process. Mine was four clicks too. Wonder what it is at new? My 2008 Vulcan Nomad has 68k Kms. Cheers Team
Excellent, If this video helped you out please Subscrine and like the video. Thank you.
