I remember my father was using 3500s for his hot shot business and one year he decided to give a Ram 5500 a try. What a lemon that truck turned out to be. Constant issues to the point my dad had to get ridd of it. Ram would not lemon it or buy it back at a decent price. He ended up being upside down for a huge loss to go back to a 3500. Was very sad how Ram treated him with the true lemon they sold him. Nearly every drive train item went bad on him within first year. Axle, t case, trans etc. This was around 2017.
Hi Stephen/Howard great video prices keep creepin ups bit too much each year and i know they add more features as standard equipment, also remember some of this is legislated by our governments mostly regarding the safety tech, the reason you can't get a high output diesel in the Ram commercial trucks is for longevity reasons, this info i got from a friend who runs a Ram commercial part of a dealership here in Manitoba, so i can only take him for his word and he has worked in this for over 25 years, I just find it odd that Ford/GM offer their high output diesels in their commercial platforms, too bad for Ram i think it would bring in more clientele to the commercial side of the business, as Stephen said the owner operators of these trucks know that the powertrain will handle it just fine and so far they are proving to be known less in the shop for breakdowns currently then Ford/GM here in Canada, the new 8 speed auto from ZF is showing awesome results for the heavy duty Rams for 2025 👍
I bought a 22 Ram Cummins. It had 4 recalls in the first 2-3 months. Then it started going into regen every single day. Lots of stories on the internet with the lifters going out. Sold it after 14 months and took a huge loss. Now I’m drinking the Duramax kool aid. So far it’s doing great.
I like dodge trucks. Ive driven them several times as rental or for work. I don't like the brake pedal being too high off tge floorboard. Makes me have to lift my leg to hit the brakes, instead of just transferring my foot from gas to brake. Maybe newer ones are different? I haven't driven one in 10 years
That is beyond comical..for a truck which has the bones of 20 year old platform . And one wonders why EVERY Ram dealership is flooded with grossly overpriced trucks..that are virtually unaffordable...
TFL used the pointless turboed V6 RAM and it was telling them there low oill pressure and there was no oil dipstick. I myself I don't like Ram but if I needed a light duty work truck safer to have a V8.
Why is that sad? Ram sells electric commercial vehicles. Some businesses have a use case for EV’s. This is just meeting the customer where they are. If that is not you, fine. But just because I don’t drive a diesel doesn’t mean there is not a need for diesel fueling stations.

was 3500 also a dodge?? or GM/Ford?
@@marcelo403polo2Well it obviously wasn’t a Dodge considering the last Dodge made RAM was the third generation.
Excellent episode as always!!! 😁
Ram is trying to have the top work truck.

Welcome!
Nice review as always.
I appreciate that
Steve what was the bed length of the 5500 cab chassis upfitter with gooseneck and rails?
They’re intentionally trying to go bankrupt right? Selling 20 year old trucks for these prices, it has to be intentional 😂

The last Dodge truck left the production line 15 years ago, where have you been ?

I swear tfl truck did this a month ago 🤷♂️
should be I 6 and not the V 6...... 0:59.....I stands for inline, in the 60's we called it the straight 6 or the straight 8........V for vee
Ram = junk

The Hurricane is an inline 6 cylinder not V 6.
RAM sales are down 25% this year, haha.. hope they go out of business they deserve it thinking that a a work truck should cost $70k
First!
Sad to hear they are flushing money down the drain trying to build a charging network. Never, ever, let a foreign entity own an American company.
Don't worry. Whenever necessary, they print money without backing and buy it again😂

I just don’t like Dodge Rams. I think they look funny. Chevy or gtfo.
Just as well these are Chrysler built RAM trucks then.
