Thanks a lot for great tips! Can you please make a video on being overwhelmed and what to prioritize? I feel overwhelmed working my butt of for the music, and at the same time trying to come up with content on two different platforms. Also, what are your thoughts on quantity vs quality in music?

      Hi Adam,
      Great video.
Me and my bro are a Twin Break Dancing Rap group from NYC.
We would appreciate a deep dive on:
      - music distribution outlets in terms of publishing
      -music release strategies
      And Monetization.
      Appreciate the content !!
We plan to take a lot of your advice this year !!

Running a successful Patreon and creating income in other ways than just selling the actual music has been really my biggest wall. Selling typical merch feels super stale in 2023. Need to think outside the box, and like you said, "keep an open mind".

3:25 Funny you bring up the example of a documentary. I came across the documentary of Yung Lean nearly 2 years ago. Just clicked out of curiosity. And it instantly made me connect with him as a person, artist, and made me check out and fall in love with his music. I became his top 0.1% of listeners.
Fun fact: He inspired me so much, that I started making music myself. If you want so, you could way he made me 💙

Thanks for your coaching Adam!! You are very wise and I will be using your advice for the upcoming release of my 11 song original album. I’ll be making music for the rest of my life now. 38 year old singer/songwriter with an amazing producer and vocal coach (lead singer of prism for 17 years). They both live 5 mins from me. My goal is to have 100+ songs professionally recorded in 2 years from now. That is 1 new song per week :)
I’ll continue to watch all your videos brother. Thank you for all your hard work!!

So refreshing to watch, I’ve been on and off with my music career for years and have found it hard in the past to pursue. I think for me brand development and social media has been the hardest. It’s difficult to keep people engaged in what you do and it’s hard when you don’t have the natural charisma but I agree we just need to be ourselves. Thanks Adam for the inspiration and motivation! I’m going to keep trying!

Hey Adam. I subscribed to your channel a little while back because you give out good, practical, usable information. I have just released a song exclusively on TH-cam a couple of days ago and a lot of my friends and family have checked it out. And that's about it. No surprise there. My music is instrumental saxophone for the most part. Some people call it jazz, but I know better because I know what jazz is. I just wanted to say that I liked the way you put up all your points near the end of this video. It looked like a vision board and it inspired me to create one to better understand how to start thinking about how I want to present myself as as a brand.

There are a million guys out there teaching the same stuff.....yet I go to Adam every. single. time. Completely sincere and honest, no fluff, no pretention, just honest , useful information. Hes uiltimately trying to sell you something but you could barely tell, its so tastefully done. I honestly believe this is the greatest resource for any new musician in 2023. Thanks for all the free help, Adam.

    • @adamivy
      @adamivy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for that. For the record I can be a smidge too opinionated sometimes which might come off as pretentious. Lol. And you're totally right. I am definitely trying to sell SOME of my viewers something. The truth is that everything I teach on TH-cam is aimed at beginners. My goal is to move the beginners into momentum with my free content and in the process earn their trust. From there I know that those who are serious will consider my Sell Music Masterclass program and once they enroll into that I'm able to work with them closer and teach the intermediate into advanced curriculum. I love every aspect of helping musicians though. I hope that shows.

Would love to hear about your perspective on "nuanced" musicians. i.e. people who aren't just a one-stop-shop for one single genre for the rest of their lives.
I'm a video game composer & singer-songwriter. While 90% of my singer-songwriter music blurs with my more cinematic/orchestral approach, I often find myself asking,
"How can I effectively be myself and brand myself AS myself when so many marketing courses will say that I'm doing it wrong because I'm more than 'one thing'"?
I'm going all-in as a composer & singer-songwriter with 0% shame attached. But it certainly makes marketing/etc. more challenging!

Most confused about, is how to legally protect your music and feel safe about releasing a song into the world or a cover song.
Also just finding my own sound as mostly I learn other people's songs and struggle to find my own passion for original songs. I know I have it in me, one day look out if I release a song :)

I’ve been producing since I could walk. I’m 36 years old now and haven’t made a penny working for my dream.. it has been the craziest thing to think about, that I am either more talented than most ppl I come in contact with on a daily basis, yet I don’t make nearly as much money as them and struggle.
Oh yea, I forgot to mention, I was addicted to drugs my entire 20s which led me to prison for 5 years!!
Is it so much to ask to simply support your family with something you love to do? I’m not even greedy.. I just want financial stability and to reach the world with my beats!
I mean my beats ARE THE NEXT BIG BREAKTHROUGH!!
If there anyone here that can point me in the right direction… I just want to provide for my 1 year old and start my career!!
    I’m way to talented!!
And I’m sure others can relate!!

Hi Adam, What advise would you give to somebody who's gonna launch his first song on his fresh TH-cam-channel (and nowhere else). What not to forget? (And do you have a video on this subject?) Thanks in advance!

Embrace the journey, set your expectations that it will take time to grow and get a buzz. You most like won't get a ton of views at first but that's part of the process.

I've rlly been wanting to know how much I should know before delving into the music industry as an artist. I don't have any connections in this industry I've just been a singer and songwriter since I was 10. just as a foundation, what should I know to be able to propell myself without leaving important gaps?

Hi adam. I've been following your channel for a while. Love your content and I do plan to learn use your services/courses one day but I know my music isn't ready yet. I'm still practicing and getting myself music quality better which you said is absolutely the most important part before marketing and all the other things come into play.
May I ask are there books/courses that you recommend to learn about getting better at rap?
Learning how to time beats better
    Better Cadence
    Breath control
    Learning pro tools
    Learning how to record/mix master
    Learning how to make beats
(All other things that I can't think of lol)
Are there courses/books/channels or anything to learn this stuff from scratch?

The best advice I can recommend is to surround yourself with others who already have the skills and learn alongside them.

@@adamivy I understand what you are saying. Networking and I've done my share bit of it but the problem is sometimes people don't share their secrets (which I understand. They can't share everything for free so im definitely the type of person that puts my money where my mouth is)
But I've tried learning from others and will continue to do so but I also try to learn a lot for myself. So far I've learnt a lot from online courses. Sites like Udemy, Skillshare, LinkedIn Learning, Even youtube is great but the problem it is so disorganized etc
So I'm asking you if you recommend anything else? Books/Courses/Online sites?
