Changing 856 IH Tie Rods and Ball Joint

I almost ran over my dog! (wait until the end)
Step by step tutorial on how to change the tie rod and ball joint on a 856 IH tractor. This should be the same on most IH front ends. With just a few tools and parts you too could change out the front end of your tractor which will reduce play in the tires and make your tractor more stable.

Good video! I have a 674D IH that I am needing to change out the tie rods on. Did not realize that two of them were that long. I have done lots of cars and trucks, and they generally have an adjustment sleeve that the tie rod ends just thread into. Now I need to see which part number I need for my 1973 model because there seems to be several.

2 things to make it easier. Spray it with wd40 or similar and use a heavier hammer made for metal, not wood. 😊

I'm not sure I know what you mean by snub? Are you asking how to make it a narrow front end?
