- Here we look at the Steelseries Nova 7. In the video I show the 7P's but it may be worth getting the 7X's as they do exactly the same but are also Xbox compatible. I got the P's due to having a deal on at the time of purchase.
These are the replacement for the Arctis 7+'s. Its has pretty much everything you need and if you own a PC it has even more!
A fantastic headset and I hope I've covered everything you need to know about them.
Steelseries have done an excellent job not the Nova's taking all what I love about the Arctis (mainly the sound) and put it in a headset with way more features and better comfort.

I re-purposed it from the desk. It’s an IKEA desk that came with 2, I have one under the desk and I put one under the shelf.

Hi there, thanks. Mention it a couple of times in the vid. I use Smiley as it’s decent across a lot of games. You can tweak it for certain games but I find that present good enough.

Great video. so 80% is the usual setting for volume on these? That sounds good. I can't seem to find a pair that are as loud as my old ass PS Gold wireless headset from 10 years ago. Nice hat btw.
Cheers. Yeah, 80% I have it but with volume limiter off, it’s on by default in the software.
@@MainCave Can you turn the limiter off when only using the headset on consoles?
@@mickael486 Yes you can. In the Sonar app on PC you have to use the GG settings for console. Once you set it on PC and reconnect the dongle to the Xbox it will save the setting. Sonar doesn't work on Xbox.

Hi there. I’ve done a comparison video which is going live soon. However. Spoiler alert, there’s not much difference (if any) between sound and mic. I have them both and day to day usage I doubt you’d tell, especially seeing as you can adjust the EQ in the GG software. Same with the mic, both are great.
I prefer the Novas but because of Bluetooth.

Which equalizer preset would you recommend for games like The Witcher or any other RPGs games and similar question applies to action adventure such as Uncharted or tomb raider and Far cry or Doom eternal ? Much appreciate if you could reach me out with any answer and thank you for this video.
I’m lazy when it comes to profiles 😂 I use Smiley. What I’d suggest is there are Reddit posts with specific equaliser settings, but you may not find them suitable for you.
Best way is to pick a profile and tweak (more bass, less tinny etc)
Great video! But the more I see/read the more confusion there is... I'm just looking for a headset that has 3d audio (don't own a ps5 yet) and working chat mix... Which wireless one is the right one for me? Can you help?
Thanks. The Novas don’t have chat mix on the set but they sound (3d audio) and feel, great.
However, I’ve just bought the Inzone H7’s and you may want to consider them. I’m making a video on them for next week as they are also superb and have chat mix on the headset themselves.

Is the functionality and performance the same across the XSX/PS5/PC?
I’ve got a pair of Astro A40s hooked up to my Xbox so it’s not NECESSARY to get the 7X but if it’s compatible with all 3 platforms and work’s identically on all 3, there’s not much reason to get the PS specific variant.
However, if the PS variant is that much better for PS, then I’d get that variant

Ok so I also have the 7p and arctis nova 7p, I notice that the sound is a bit hollow on the nova 7p, like it escaped the cuff wereas the 7p original really kept the sound in the cuff, now my question is, would wicked cushions help get rid of that like hollow feeling? Is that what you meant by the cuffs being "shallow"?

I just got one while after adjusting eq in sonar it sounds great, the mic is just so bad. Not having an issue like many others where the mic is to sensitive. You HAVE to adjust settings in sonar. Supposed to be the new version mic as well. In love with the audio quality and comfortability. For a 170 dollar headset the mic is just horrible. Turtle beach and astro have a much better mic quality

Did you say that the Arctis Nova 7X and Arctis Nova 7P can save 1 sound profile from PC on the headset to use that specific profile on console or are you stuck with the basis out-of-the-box- sound for consoles? Could be a deal breaker for me if it is the case that you can't use at least 1 sound profile on Series X or PS5 at a time.
You can save 1 sound profile to the headphones. Source: Got mine yesterday and adjusted them within the SteelSeries GG app under the tab Engine

I got mine today but they feel a little bit cheap or clunky dont know how to describe that like the earcups are a little bit loose are they maybe broken or is this normal ?

I just bought these and would you still use the preset to Smiley for FPS games like Destiny 2 or COD or BF?
I do, but that's because I got lazy and got fed up with having to switch every time. Smiley is a nice balance. There is merit in changing every time though for the best experience. There are best settings out there for each game if you do a quick google.
I’m having a problem I just bought the headset for ps5 and I checked to see if I have to have a firmware update but I don’t but I keep hearing this static/hissing noise any suggestions on how to fix this ??

Apart from the green headband the usb dongle looks different! That’s literally it. The x’s work on both. The p’s only ps5. Both have tempest audio capabilities.

It’ll work but the game and chat mixer won’t work.
Also you’ll have to adjust the side tone with the software not straight from the headset like the 7p.
Just get the one for what ever console you have.
Do they work on pc and if yes I can use Bluetooth only? Because my keyboard is Bluetooth, so do I need to buy a new Bluetooth USB?
Yes they work on pc but for the best connection use the included usb dongle. Can be connected via Bluetooth if needed.
Hello, i have just go the steelseries arctics Nova 7P, while everything is perfectly fine, whenever i turn off my headset the dongle would still be turned on and wouldn’t turn off, i have updated the headset using the GG platform and it still has the same issue, i would please love to know a solution for this matter, as i game on a tv and sometimes wouldn’t want to use the headset.

Nova 7p or steel series 9?? Which I believe the 9s are older and been out a little longer… also using strictly for ps5 .

Would you still say these are still worth getting if you don’t have a laptop / pc ? Really stuck between getting these or the astro a30s as they’re both so similar in features with simultaneous Bluetooth except the Astro a30’s has a phone app for EQ settings + more which is very convenient for my situation ahhh can’t decide
I havent tried the A30's yet as they are £50 more. TBF im so in love with my H7's I'll probably stick with them til Astro come out with something even better than everything else :)
@@MainCave I actually ended up purchasing the Astro a30s last night and I got the mandalorian special edition a30s too being a huge star wars fan dude I just had too and I am so excited cannot wait untill they arrive I paid extra for faster shipping too on the Astro website (which is £17 and not even next day delivery which I will say is crazy absurd to me) but hey I did it anyway so I can have the a30s just in time for the new jedi survivor game that’s out this Friday! Which I also absolutely cannot wait for too as you can imagine!! Lol🔥

@@manuelnoriega9577 Absolutely amazingly! 9months later and very smoothly holding up with absolute no signs or wear and tear , I give them a good clean once a week with a micro fibre minor damped cloth the gel ear cups are so comfy too that mould perfectly to your face with a nice tight and secure fit to prevent sound bleeding unlike the mesh materials of some other headphones, still blown away by the sound too! Amazing not only for gaming but movies also , use them all the time for the likes of Disney plus+ and that also, you made a very good choice! Enjoy ! 😁

The 7x is the better deal BUT the novas have Bluetooth which for me is worth it.

What do you think bass quality of this headset. I'm not full into bass quality but Playstation's 3D Pulse Headset disappointed me as max volume, bass quality and comfort. Now battery died, deformated i willing to buy a new headset for my ps5. Only thing that i liked, that was 3D Audio and sounds were crystal clear. Microphone quality was so bad too.. I think the best headset of Sony was pulse headset as the quality, but it's made for PS3 years ago.
I really didn’t get on with the Pulses or the older Golds.
Maybe consider the inzone H7’s as I love them. These are however very good too.
So essentially, TH-cam messes up a lot of sound, even if the recorded material has sounds of a good enough quality?
is there a light on the mic for a mute notification?? also i bought the arctis 9 and the game chat/party chat dial doesn’t work for my ps5 so would it work if i bought the nova 7p?
Hi there, yes, I do mention in the vid that there’s a mute led, but as for chat mix the novas are the same (as with most ps5 headphones) its changed on the console.
What I did with my Arctis 9, 7ps and now Novas is simply physically move it if I ever needed to.

Isn’t the sound quality that I am hearing, the quality of what I am listening on vs how the headset that is being reviewed sounds?
Thats the problem with TH-cam, compression and conversion will always degrade it. It is handy however to be able to tell if its a bad sound, of which it isnt.
Does the setting made on the PC carry over to the PS5?
Yes it does. I’ve tested this several times after seeing some reviews said you can’t and whatever you set, this is replicated on PS5. It 100% changes on PS5.

I have the 7x about 2 year and they are great !!! So i decided to get myself a present buing the nova 7x … in few days i will get them …. Will be difficult cause until now the 7x are dor me the best … i m curius to see the difference and to see if the nova could be better …
The 2 major differences are comfort. The fit is a touch looser. And Bluetooth connectivity. This is a HUGE positive for the Novas.

I've been searching for a new headset for weeks now. I've bought and returned a few of them already. My biggest issue is that none of them are as loud as my old PS Gold headset I bought back in 2013 for my PS3 and PS4. And I'm comparing those to brand new headsets that cost DOUBLE the price. How loud do these get? Basically, I don't like having to max out the volume to hear everything as loud and clear as possible. Some games simply don't play as loud as others, you know?
I had the same issue with the golds and others. These are FAR louder but you need to turn off volume limiter in the GG software.

I got the Corsair HS80 and I pretty much never turn the volume above 30/100 cuz they're so loud lol. Loudest headset I've owned and one of the best I've had too - for reference, I've owned the Arctis Pro + Gamedac, Sony Platinum, HyperX Cloud 2, Sennheiser Game One, Turtle Beach Stealth 700 and Astro A40 + Mixamp. My favorite headset is a tie between the HS80 and the Arctis Pro, with the HS80 being slightly better imo, in large part due to the fact they're wireless and the mic is so amazing.

I've been watching reviews for hours and hours and I simply don't think it's a good phone. 700 gen 2 lasts 1 year, nova 7x has mic issue, profiles etc. Can you give me a verdict on the HS80? @@Nacional-Socialismo I love my HS80 and I can hear player footsteps from a good 20-30ft away and the directionality is really good, it's easy to tell if the footsteps are to your right, left, above you, etc. I wouldn't say they're the "ultimate in audio" but I would definitely say they're the best headset in the $100-150 range. I believe they're $100 right now and that's a steal imo. I've had mine for almost 2yrs now and I've had zero issues with em whatsoever. They also come with Dolby Atmos and the equalizer in iCUE is really good too. Lastly, the microphone is the best I've ever heard, not only in a wireless headset, but a wired one as well. It's really amazing how great it sounds, it's like broadcast mic quality. People tell me it sounds like I'm right next to them, no compression or distortion, they sound awesome

The 7 and 7p work on PS and PC but not Xbox

I need a help. I’m a PS5 user. Better this one or Razer Kaira pro? I need a headset wireless+Bluetooth for my PS5 and my TV.

I have artic 9x but the hinge broke on it so SteelSeries said they can give the nova 7x , what do you think should take it or get The same pair artic 9x?
Ive been thinking about this. If you like your 9’s then stick with them. The differences are marginal (7’s have better battery and usb-c). The 7’s may be a bit looser fit and will most likely sound similar (my 9’s are bust so can’t test but I’d say they are the same)
But if you fancy a change the 7’s are great.
So the Nova 7x is not a improvement on Bass regards the 9x? As I have the 9x for xbox, but also the 7p for ps5, and the 7p are clear winners in regards of bass and footsteps. @@MainCave
I just ordered arctis nova 7p headset bcs i think these are best for me. I thinked too corsair hs80 and sony inzone h7 but corsair's battery life isn't that good and i think sony's would be too big for me. (In one review video they get easily off your head if you swing your head)
But now im wondering will my ears hit to the drivers with nova 7p? I'm currently using hyperx cloud 2 wired headset and i have switched earpads to soft ones. idk are they fabric or something? But with that setup my ear hits little bit to the driver. So what do you think, will these gonna be good to me?
And to the price i got steelseries for 110€. Corsairs was same price and inzone h7 was like 170€.
I use the H7’s almost exclusively now and have upgraded with the wicked cushions. They will be my perfect headphones til the Sony Pulse Elites get wicked cushions.
H7’s are just convenient with the on PS5 controls
If you get these make sure to do the firmware update on a pc I got the pc version for my ps5 and once I got it adjusted on the gg program I had no complaints

Wouldn’t it be smarter to hang the headphones from the top piece instead of the fabric band? Might be putting too much unnecessary stress on the band in such a narrow spot.
Great headset but there is no reason with Bluetooth they couldn't make a app for these to make adjustments like the turtle beach.

I wanted to try the JBL 910x. Same thing, now app despite having Bluetooth. Whats worse you may ask? Where you can at least tune the SteelSeries and carry it over to console. The 910x do not locally save the eq adjustment. It's simply gone when you unplug from pc and try to take it to the xbox. At $299 I'm ashamed of JBL and that doesnt seem excusable on a headset of that price...and I'm a huge JBL fan for value, sound and quality.
A bit confused.. First you say 7p is ps only. Next you say 7x is xbox only... Is the 7p also for PC?
Hi there, sorry if it’s confusing. I clear it up at 0:25. Then on 2:36 you can see everything the 7p is compatible with with the 7x adding Xbox onto the list. HTH

The 7p doesn’t have chat mix on the headset,only a side tone volume wheel.
That’s because chat mix can be adjusted through the ps5.
Do they have mic monitoring on ps5? Can’t seem to find it online

For ps5 how do I change the chat volume while keeping game volume how I want it cause my friends are way to loud
Unfortunately , unless you have a Sony headset this function needs to be done via the PS5 menu system. Ive moved over to the Intone H7's which allow this.

Are these much better sound quality wise than the pulse?
For me, absolutely. I really didnt enjoy the Pulses, but there are people that do like them.
Pulse 3D has been the best headset since launch of the ps5 for me
@@Mexirican017 They are a great option for sure! If you haven’t tried the nova 7ps yet though, I highly recommend them. Sound quality goes up quite a bit believe it or not
@@agnody1 I actually just returned them 😂 there were a few features that were missing that I much rather have and just wasn’t overall satisfied unfortunately. I have my a30s as a backup as well :) they were comfy though! Probably the most comfortable

is the nova 7 a real upgrade from the arctis 7+?, ive bought the nova 7 myself but i dont find them too comfortable, they seem too clamp too much compared to my old arctis 1. cant have the nova on for more then 2 hours. also i dont think the sound on the nova's is too great, need alot of tweaking in sonar and EQ to maybe hit the spot. if the arctis 7+ is more comfortable and has more emersion i might bring the nova 7 back.
I’m making a comparison video at the moment but the theme is, there’s not much difference. They are pretty similar in price and almost identical in sound BUT, the Novas have built in Bluetooth which is essential for me.
@@MainCave for me its more that the nova's start to feel uncomfortable after around 2 hours, too the point where i have to take the headset off. so for me the comfort is the most important now

Although they sound great on PS5, the mic picks up every little sound from my surroundings and it's really ruining the experience for me. Anyone know how to reduce the amount of background noise the mic picks up for console?
Maybe try a mic cover thing. Can’t remember the name but wind something. Might help

Are these headphones better or the steelseries arctis nova pro wireless?
The nova pros are better (sound, battery) but at a cost.
I ordered the arctis nova 7 for my ps5, is there any differences from the 7p?
I’m doing a comparison video. But the main differences are slightly loser fit and the Novas have Bluetooth which is a HUGE benefit

The volume controls suck unfortunately you one have volume no chat mixer or even Bluetooth/game balance. Makes them kind of useless even for chat and gaming. I sent mine back and ordered the pro. the fitment wasn't that great either being rather top heavy and fell off even at the smallest setting I had to wear a hat to keep them from falling backward or forwards, even with an EQ they sounded box. I might need a headband strap or 3rd party cup rings to add thicker pads to the pro.
The Pros will be excellent. I did however have the last gen pros and had to re-cable just to get the control box next to the sofa where I was playing, hated getting up every time to change settings or battery. Also, I changed chat mix once to the perfect balance and left it (as with these it’s literally a solution to move the mic) and with the pros I still used BT volume on my phone (it’s quicker than using the control box).
They did sound better/deeper, but for nearly double, it’s a lot of money.

Yes it does. Just use the included usb-c to usb-a adapter to plug into the PS4

Yeah. I say the best value. Pros are better but they are vastly more expensive.
@@MainCave they are expensive but if you brake down the price than you will see that the actual headphone itself costs less than the Nova 7 and Nova Pro itself much better sound quality than Nova 7. DAC station for Nova Pro costs almost half the price of the whole pack. Then you get two set of batteries, they are not expensive, about $20 for pack of two. Put his all together and you get an excellent value for the money. I was thinking to get Nova 7 and keep on bouncing between Nova 7 and Nova Pro Wireless. It took me a couple of weeks to come up with what I want. And on the last day I was ready to buy Nova 7 and then I thought I will missing out on a lot of features and the main one is true wireless. Because I don’t really want to spend lots of money and then still sit for a couple of hours to change headsets while playing. Then I switch to Nova Pro Wireless right away. Also Nava Pro Wireless hard to find. At least in UK. Almost all the major retailers sold out and on the official website also out of stock. Lots of the retailers do back orders but no one knows how long to wait, because they all getting stock from the main supplier which is also out of stock. So if you have some spare cash and you can afford to ge them, then buy them. I was so sceptical about them before I bought them last week and now I don’t regret it all. Money well spent. I might say, did a Christmas present well in advance.

I got a discount on them for 300 which is still quite expensive on a pair headphones but the quality of these headphones are just so impressive I upgraded myself from a steel series artic 5 to these and there’s such a huge leap glad I got these the extra 150 is worth the nova 7 are still good but the quality is vastly different in my opinion.

Customer service is shocking from the company. I'm sure it was a bot that asked me to install a PC app for my Xbox headphones????? No reply back, no support for the doubling of the audio when I speak back in my headphones. Reading about customer support afterwards makes me wish I'd researched this company sooner as there are hundreds of people with this echo issue. Made for Xbox???? but don't work out the box and no support or guidance? Sheeesshhh

Mic is terrible because ps5 doesn’t recognize you’re using a headset and so it also uses your ps5 controller as a mic. So that right there is enough to get me to refund these because that is incredibly frustrating and unbelievable a headset could be so carelessly optimized in 2024. Back to the pulse elites

Original cups - depth, material, glasses, padding, noise isolation, with glasses, clamp force and even size.
But adding to it, buying some pads make it a new set so makes sense to know what’s available as a consumer.
Don't get these, I went for a refund within a few hours. Sound is hollow and requires EQ, the microphone is so bad, the first thing my friends asked me in discord was "Why does it sound like you are working in a Burger King Drive Thru?"

@@damianflores7868 honestly, Gaming headsets are dog water, so I just got a low latency bluetooth receiver, and turned an actual audiophile headphone into 'wireless'. and a Antlion Mod mic for the mic.

The 7p+ doesn’t have simultaneous Bluetooth so I’d always go for the novas. But do look at my Inzone H7 video. They are my gotos
