I'm generally of the opinion that domestic solar is, for most people, a waste of time. That's based on current electricity prices, in particular overnight prices.
By the time you calculate how much energy the installation will produce, and if you assume that the property uses all of it (unlikely) then the cost of (domestic) solar electricity tends to be marginally higher than the overnight rates you get from the likes of Octopus.
If you just put in a battery, you can fully use it all winter too.
For larger installations in particular ones that use lots during the day, then solar makes an awful lot of sense.

I have a smart meter and the monitor bloody useless the monitor doesn’t give me any real meaningful information. Avoid smart meters altogether. We’ve been lied to by the suppliers .

@@sjbradley98 if you don’t like my opinion that’s fine but don’t be rude about it. I’m only giving my opinion from my own experience being with British Gas . Also which and BBC watchdog and ripoff Britain highlighted the problem with smart meters. . Like i said if you don’t like my opinion that fin if you don’t agree with me that fine as well. But don’t tell me to give it a rest . I’m entitled to have and give my opinion.

@@Dog-whisperer7494 Best thing you can do is get rid of the smart meter. 👍🏻

Sounds like you're complaining about the in-house display rather than the smart meter itself.
Yes, most in-house displays are pretty garbage.
Smart Meters are not though, unless you happen to have an earlier SMETS1 version that loses all smart functionality when switching provider. Fortunately, anything from around 2018 onwards will have a SMETS2 meter, and these work perfectly fine.
