Another great video. Love that you are doing some at 30 Joules now. Those coconuts fresh off the tree are tough, especially the greenish ones. I shot some a while back with my TCP at a similar Joule setting, way before I started putting anything on video. I got basically the same type of result. I had to dissect them out with a knife. Cool video as always. Since you re-used and mixed the balls when cronyed its hard to know the energy given at the test. But from previous testing its over 25 joules, so good power 💥👌. Another great test - thank you. I've just got my HDR68 today so I'm on the prowl for some decent slugs. As I want to store the pistol for home defense I probably will stay away from the .68 devastator rounds now I know they don't hold in the drum. Do you happen to know what is the best fitting slug that is as good or close to the devastators?
Hey Mark! Thanks so much! So far one of the best ammo I shot with the HDR 68 is the aluminum balls. I’ll be doing a video in the next two or three weeks comparing a variety of 68 cal slugs including CODODO’s real bullets and Deez Büllets…. Hopefully that’ll be helpful to you. My gun is 26 joules. I also noticed how the devastators don't fit snug. Might not be good to use them for home defense since they might fall out of the gun. Fun to shoot though.
I can almost bet that if the top of that pan was clamped down somehow the 30j would of blasted right through. I've found a big difference in the flexibility of the target... I think im going to start getting my water in the jugs somewhat like you use instead of going through 120 single plastic bottles that just go into the recycling bin after were done drinking them. Yeah 👍 i can still recycle the big jugs after being them up a bit right?!! Lol Hey great vid content, much needed one to be seen for a few reasons. 💯
On eBay there is some ammo for the HDR.50 it's like the devistator rounds but instead of a ball bearing they have a 6mm or 9mm bullet depending on your choice. Edit: But waiting maybe a delay as they come from Italy.
Wow interesting, thank you MR VeryFantastic! Send me the link if you have it, would love to check them out. There is so much cool ammo for the HDR 50 - now it’s time for the 68!!
Great review bro, thanks for sharing it! I noticed the same thing when using the 50 cal "devastators" with my HDR50 (11J): two of them fit "loosely" so they always fall through the other side of the drum (and thus, from the barrel of the gun when it's pointed downwards), which, as you point out in the video, is a bit annoying...Maybe using an aluminum drum (like the one on the Homedefence-24 website) would solve that issue? What do you think? Would such an upgrade make sense?
Hello my friend, and thanks a lot! That’s a good question, I haven’t tried the Homedefence-24 aluminum mag - but it would make great sense if it was a bit tighter and fitted the Devastator perfectly. I wonder if the drum’s specs indicate that 🤔
@@AirgunAlley Well, I just searched the homedefense-24 site, and apparently they only make one for the HDR50. I admit I find it kinda odd that they don't make one for its bigger brother, so I just sent them an email, asking if they plan to make one any time soon (because that'd be great for all of us who have a passion for modding our HDR68 :-) On the same wavelength, the other EU-based company that makes aluminum drums for both the HDR50 and the HDR68 is the equally reliable Z-RAM, but unfortunately they seem to have run out of them, as their site says that both items will be "available soon" (whatever that means; hopefully, it won't take more than a couple of months for the drums to be available again on their site.. :-( UPDATE: Apparently, the good folks at Homedefense-24 did make an aluminum drum for the HDR68 as well, but it's now "sold out", so I can only hope they make a few more of them soon!
This reminds me of back in the day when we would freeze paintballs and be able to shoot 200, very strong paintballs in just a few seconds and be able to tear up the junk cars in my friends feild. We would actually end up eating threw the metal of the cars after you hit them enough with rock solid frozen paintballs. I honestly think the frozen paintballs in a market is more effective and cheap than these guns.
@Nick Chuck I said nothing about self defense in my comment...I just stated that this reminds me of, back in 1999, how we use to do this with paintballs. Far higher quality paintballs then you get today, btw...
Also, you didn't mention self defense, but that's how I saw the comment via, who legally would even use these guns unless you can't have a firearm. An old school marker, with upgraded hammer, springs and regulator can take a .68 nylon/steel round to 450+fps easy. Not to mention you can hold 200 in a hopper. Old school tech..
Hey man, would you mind telling me what modifications you did to get the muzzle energy up to 30j from the factory 7.5j? Even if you send it out to someone who worked on it, I'd love to know where you were able to do so to achieve that level of power. Any help would be highly appreciated. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks in advance.
Hi my friend! I’ve tried them many times, but never with a 7,5 joules. Only the 11j. However, I very much recommended them for the 7,5j as they’re extremely light and effective…
I have used a 16 joule version, not modified, and it used 1 CO2 capsule for 1 magazine, 5 shots!!! That crono he's using should be able to calculate the exact muzzle energy, 7.5J = 6 fpe 16J = 12 fpe and 30J = about 22 fpe It's not difficult to measure power when you have scales and a chronograph like he does.... there is a formula on line
Best ammo for self protection? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much. Love ur vids. Very good information, im about to purchase the 68 ...16, thanks again
The 68 cal aluminum balls are great, CODODO’s ammo is excellent also Deez Bullets. You then have Z-ram and HomeDefense 24 hahaha there are a lot of great ammo out there. Have a look at some of my videos and pick the one like the most :) It also depends where you live and the shipping costs, go for the ones that are cheaper for you!
@AirgunAlley very awesome, yes I've been watching ur vids all night at work, I'm gonna try the jawbreakes, riot balls, rubber steal, and a couple other types, didn't get the peppers, nxt pay, those are the most expensive, I'm not sure exactly what to get. I got the 68 cal. With the joules converter, do u oil the co2s? I think I saw u do something like that, do I need to buy oil? Thank you again for all your help and your reply, very generous of you, I really wanted to look at that Italian ammo but I think it was on eBay you had a link I really don't use that is there another website I could go to for that? I apologize if I'm wrong I've looked at so many videos the last 24 hours
Sadly, I think they only sell the 7,5J version in the US. Or at least they did til not long ago. I looked and looked and looked for the 16J, with no luck at all. In Europe (well, in some counties) it’s actually easier to get these toys in all their varieties. Weirdly!
Good question. Indeed mag and barrel are a bit wider. Most 68 cal ammo (like the devastators) were designed for the HDS 68 which has a bit of a tighter barrel. I’m sure that slowly most ammo makers will adapt to the new HDR
Good question Jonny. The modified cylinder for the Zrams is actually made to allow them to fit in length, not diameter. As the new 68 cal Zrams are a bit longer. In this case you would need to make/find a cylinder with tighter slots…. Basically almost any ammo made for the HDS 68 will be a tad loose in the HDR 68
Hi! I would always recommend 68. I think a bigger caliber is way more effective for breaking coconuts ;) No, the max I’ve tried from a 50 is 20 joules… Thanks a lot my friend!
Another great video...well done my friend. So, I still haven't bought the HDR68 because I'm still having fun with my HDR50. And I've been running these rounds thru it called "Homewreckers", and let me tell you, the damage that my HDR50 11 joule version renders when firing these things is brutal. Do you know anything about them? If so, what would you say is more powerful...the Devastators or the Homewreckers? Again, using my 11 joule 50 cal HDR, these Homewreckers blew thru half inch sheet rock from like 20 feet like nothing. Tell me what you think and thanks again for your work out here. I know it takes time and effort making your videos and all I can say is that its definitely appreciated! Thanks.
Hi George! Thank you so much for your supportive words! They truly mean and help a lot! It’s funny you say this. I love these guns, I really do and it’s quite obvious. But one thing I’ve learned is how inconsistent they can be. I tried the Homewrekers and was barely able to shoot them. I know there were actions I could’ve taken to fit them in the mag, but… Anyway - here’s the video that came out of that experience th-cam.com/video/q7E7ds24YQY/w-d-xo.html
That said, and I may be overstating here, but the difference between shooting the HDR 50 vs the 68, to me, is almost like driving a cool moped against riding an actual motorcycle
Thank you Jon! Yes, but also the addition of a small bb (in this case - other’s use other round metal bits) to control the flow of the CO2. If you only remove the restrictor, you lose all the gas at the first shot. Check out Rune Rebel’s channel. He has made some videos that explain the process… good luck :)
No offense brother, and no offense to my fellow paintballers; yes I do have the 7j, factory 68 and was considering the 11j, factory 50cal version. But I'm frankly not impressed. As at least one person pointed out, it's a darn toy. Get a real firearm, if you can. Just my opinion, but paying upwards of 500usd (including accessories) for a toy and deluding yourself into believing that you are safe.... not a good idea. Don't hate, only my personal preference. Here in CALI, middle school kids have access to real firearms. The odds are better than 50/50 that in a defensive situation my adversary will have a deadly weapon. And I had better not try to defend myself with a F-ing toy. JS 👍🏿👍🏿 LIKED/SUBBED 🙌🏿
Hey my friend, first off thank you so much for the superlike and for subscribing. They both mean a lot! 🙏🏽 And no offense taken, I love it when open and civilized conversations take place on my channel! Your input is very valuable. Now remember, these launchers are mainly marketed in Europe and other countries around the world where people don’t own firearms. In the US they are often (among) the only self-defense options for returning citizens (former felons) and other cases where people are not allowed a firearm… Thanks again!
Hi my friend, no you can’t insert them from the back. There are rings that close the back part of the magazine. With the HDR68 every projectile has to be loaded from the front…
Hey John, I’d love to. But first I need to become a bit (a lot!) more successful with this channel so that manufacturers will start sending me guns to test. So far I test what I buy, and I buy what I can hehe… but soon my friend, soon 🤞🏽
Of course my friend! FPS stands for Feet Per Second, which simply measures the speed of the projectile: how many feet it travels in one second. Joules and FPE (or Foot Pound Energy) are the values you get by dividing the speed by the weight of the projectile. The faster and heavier a projectile travels, the higher the joules or fpe. Hope this made some sense…
@@AirgunAlley yes kinda but im really getting at is how powerful is it through translating this... is it knockdown power good enough for home defense will it stop an intruder?
Thats not bad for an unmoded gun 260 and the rounds are around 5.40 grams just a little over 16 joules that would put a hurting on a person I stand corrected at 9.7 ish in grams for the devastators that gives you just a smidge over 30 joules at 260 fps impressive more hurt than I originally thought
Not a fair test when hitting the watermelon from the front, then from the side. Too bad. Sorry but hitting the empty part of the water jug, it broke through the other side, compared to hitting the jug where the water level was higher. It may take considerably more time to compare apples to apples, but lets get it accurate, right?
Yup, not always easy to say, do and shoot everything perfectly when doing it all as a one-man-band. Further more time is not on my side with a demanding full time job and a small baby in the house. That said I truly do my best to get everything right and to be as accurate as possible, but sometimes imperfections happen. I felt that in the images it was pretty clear that the slugs went through the water jug, where there wasn’t any water, even if my excitement that followed the shooting - suggested otherwise. I did say something like “I look forward rewatching the slow-mo” for that exact reason. In any case I’m always big on letting the images speak. Now, the 7,5 watermelon was a lot smaller and almost perfectly round. The 30j was a lot larger and football shaped. The amount of watermelon that each projectile crossed, was very similar in both tests. In my view we’re still talking about apples and apples. I really appreciate you Keith, comments like yours push people like me to keep striving for perfection. Thank you

It’s a cannon! It really depends on the country/state. In Europe each country has a joules limit, some I think reach up to 40 joules. In the US some states have regulations, others don’t. Hope this helps!
that’s exactly what i been thinking because i’ve found the ones i’ve fired already seperate easier and penetrate better, the only issue with designing it to split it it may end up separating in the barrel
Hi my friend - yes I always put all the links to everything in the video description. Let me know if there are links that don’t work, I’ll look for updated ones…
Hey Johan! Nope, no more blowouts. I moved my CO2 cartridges back in the house (in the AC) and that seems to have worked. Basically the cartridges had gotten too hot, during that test I did, as I had recently moved them to my outdoor metal locker. Dumb idea!
MITICO!!
Hey Nathan, apparently you can do something with the valve where the CO2 goes, that will help preserve gas. But you’ll have to turn to the experts for that. I can imagine how powerful those 6 shots are tho 💪🏼💪🏼
I wish! There are two versions 7,5j and 16j - I think the criteria behind that is that one is for paintballing and the other more for “home defense” - sadly in the US so far we only got the 7,5j version.
@@AirgunAlley Thx. btw I was watching several vids on the T4E 68 and one guy just removed valve, litteraly unscrewd it, put CO2 in and he was shoting at 30-32 J
Cool Galad! The thing is, I’ve learned, a lot of times that is not enough - as often you get big power by removing the restrictor - but then you lose all the CO2 in a few shots. Usually you need to add something to the valve that closes it in time - to not release too much gas at once… but that’s for the handy-tech geniuses. I only shoot, film and review 😂

I admit I find it kinda odd that they don't make one for its bigger brother, so I just sent them an email, asking if they plan to make one any time soon (because that'd be great for all of us who have a passion for modding our HDR68 :-)
On the same wavelength, the other EU-based company that makes aluminum drums for both the HDR50 and the HDR68 is the equally reliable Z-RAM, but unfortunately they seem to have run out of them, as their site says that both items will be "available soon" (whatever that means; hopefully, it won't take more than a couple of months for the drums to be available again on their site.. :-(
UPDATE: Apparently, the good folks at Homedefense-24 did make an aluminum drum for the HDR68 as well, but it's now "sold out", so I can only hope they make a few more of them soon!

Hahaha love it!! Thanks for this, I had actually never thought of frozen paintballs. I surely agree, they must really do a lot of damage 👏🏼
Do you have a Test "HDR 50" with Aluminium Balls (7.5 Jules)?
Hi my friend! I’ve tried them many times, but never with a 7,5 joules. Only the 11j.
However, I very much recommended them for the 7,5j as they’re extremely light and effective…
Considering it's 22.5 more joules, I'm surprised there's not much more damage
Kinda of thinking the same. Consistent 400-450 fps would a hell of a punch.
I have used a 16 joule version, not modified, and it used 1 CO2 capsule for 1 magazine, 5 shots!!!
That crono he's using should be able to calculate the exact muzzle energy, 7.5J = 6 fpe
16J = 12 fpe and 30J = about 22 fpe
It's not difficult to measure power when you have scales and a chronograph like he does.... there is a formula on line

This gun would truly benefit from a better size barrel or is that just with the devastator rounds? The poor fitment?
Good question. Indeed mag and barrel are a bit wider. Most 68 cal ammo (like the devastators) were designed for the HDS 68 which has a bit of a tighter barrel. I’m sure that slowly most ammo makers will adapt to the new HDR
Do the devaststors need a diffrent drum... i sall thr zrams need a diffrent drum... 😢

@@AirgunAlley But your hdr 50 is weak very weak.

Hi, you have to insert these Devastators from the back of the magazines into them (unlike the rubber balls), that's how are designed.
Hi my friend, no you can’t insert them from the back. There are rings that close the back part of the magazine. With the HDR68 every projectile has to be loaded from the front…

Exactement, bien dit!
With the HPA adapter..the attacker might not get up🥲
The rounds set further back and will seat and not move.
Hmmm problem is, they don’t sit properly in the magazine. They’re just too small
can you explain to the unknowing the difference between joules, fps, and raw force, power?

Thank you

The 30 joules is badass. I asume is not legal right ?
It’s a cannon! It really depends on the country/state. In Europe each country has a joules limit, some I think reach up to 40 joules. In the US some states have regulations, others don’t.

I think they need to redesign those sabots to break away easier so maybe you could get better penetration.

Hey Nathan, apparently you can do something with the valve where the CO2 goes, that will help preserve gas. But you’ll have to turn to the experts for that. I can imagine how powerful those 6 shots are tho 💪🏼💪🏼
Get the HPA adapter and you’ll have consistent powerful shots…more the 5..say like 30
Isn't T4E HDR .68 default 16J?

In 1972 ,denazified' Reichswaffengesetz from 1938 was replaced with restrictive ,Bundeswaffengesetz 1972' ( But compared to now, a bit more liberal). The 7,5 Joule is the , energy limit' for all kind of airguns , availlable licencefree in Germany. For stronger airguns, you need a ,Waffenbesitzkarte'. As far as i know, this stronger airguns are used here in Germany from some target shooters ( field target shooting) and hunters , in Germany the hunters have hunting times for different animals, and in non hunting time ( Schonzeit/ care time?) hunters do some huntrelated work in their hunting ,bout', and have only a .22 rifle with them, for the case, shooting foxes, weaszles , cats , crows etc. is necessary, some hunters use strong airguns for this purpose.
Selfdefence is in Germany on paper allowed, but in reality unwanted. In 1890s the highest real policeman of Prussia, the largest german state at this day, hold a speech in prussian Parlament, in which he noted, more and more criminals use pistols, so the policemen armed only with sabers, can' t fight them. The consquences: a) Up to 1912 all german policemen got a pistol. b) A civilian need since then a ,Waffenschein'( Ccw licence) to carry a pistol . c) Arround 1905 licencefree blankguns for pepper and teargas cartridges appeared. Those blankguns had been licencefree in Imperial Germany, Weimar Republic, Hitlerera , and again from 1951 ( 52?) to 2008. In 2008 a ,ccw licence light' was introduced to carry blank guns, and current leftist gouvernement tries to restrict owning such blankguns more.
You, as US citizen are informed about ,defence airguns' from Pepperball, Tipmann , Byrna or Hero. But, please inform yourself about french rubber ball pistols of Sapl company, or a belgian 44 mm ball launcher, all break action/ tip down weapons.
Salut mon ami! Thank you for your comment and I ave subscribed to your channel, very nice content, good job. If I may give you a suggestion, try to film horizontally (not vertically) as it looks a lot better on TH-cam. Of course that's not the case if you intend uploading more "shorts".
Anyway, good luck my friend!!
@@AirgunAlley merci pour votre abonnement, je prend note je ferais comme sa pour la prochaine vidéo en tout cas c'est gentil pour votre commentaire sur mon contenu sa fais plaisir 🙏
Wait 70$ but you ship First your hdr68 to him He makes IT and Ship it Back or how this works Fell?
It’s all over anyway. We don’t use him anymore :)
I would if they have a adaptor so I can hook up to a CO2 tank like a normal paint ball gun
Check this channel out, you may find something helpful for that… youtube.com/@umarext4elesslethalhomedef872
Or here! facebook.com/jeff.mackay.90?mibextid=LQQJ4d
Are you using the standard Umarex drums?
Hi Thomas, yes I am :)
@@AirgunAlley ok cool,
Could you do a Test with the standard Drum and and aluminium Tuning Drum in comparison on your 30 joule hdr?
That would be great!
How snug should the rounds fit into the mag? I just got some devastators and I have to really jam them in there.
That’s good that you have to jam them in. Strange though, as most people found them extremely lose. As you saw in the video, mine slipped through the barrel if I pointed the muzzle down
@@AirgunAlley My Devastators fall out of the barrel as well. I believe I wasted my money on the 68 Cal Devastators. 💵
Mine were super snug but came with a white nylon ball that's ment to push through the cylinder to widen the opening of yours fell out I can only imagine your cylinders have already been "broke" in
Bom dia amigo. Como faço para obter uma airgun dessa?
I’m not sure my friend. Depends in which country you are in and if they sell these guns? Best place to start is online….
30 joules, how do you make it so powerful?
Some people know how to modify it to that power. However I suggest a factory 16joules if possible, they almost hit the same
Where can I get these in Canada
I put some ebay links in the video description. I’m sure they work in Canada…
@@AirgunAlley great thanks
I love them 🤘🤘🤙
Those local coconuts might be really tasty, you should see if you can nab a fresh one!
They are!! For every coconut I shoot… I eat three 😎🥥
@@AirgunAlley Lucky you, I need to explore my neighborhood for free food growing wherever.
Very well scripted the intro 👍👍
Thank you Gaston! The next intro will be a sequel to this one… and I hope it will be funny! 🤞🏽
Does anyone have any contact info for troys toys I don’t have a fb or instagram any help would be appreciated
Hey Cameron! Unfortunately Troy has momentarily paused his operations - as he’s had a series of misfortunes happening in this period. He’s working on getting things going again and is looking forward to resume shortly, he knows how much he’s needed!
_HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY!!_
🙏🏽🌭🇺🇸
16 joule vs 30 joule
I 100% agree with you. The problem is, there are no 16j in the USA 😩
I think Fsc first strike would have went through the pan
I’ll have to try them! Thanks a lot!
guess you can't carry it around bc the ammo drops out.
Hehe… not all ammo drops out, just the Devastators and many projectiles made for the HDS 68 which has a bit of a wider barrel.
There’re plenty slugs out there that fit very well :)
Good video just please don't waste water, we in a drought hehe
Thank you my friend! You’re right, I also consider wasting water, a crime.
BUT! that’s tap water (I refill the jug after we drink it) and in Florida we have the opposite problem of droughts. We have way more water than we need… wish we could send some where it’s needed!
I just wish it had a exposed hammer
Paint the devastators with rubber or regular paint 🎨
Yea that’s indeed a good idea, for the needed extra layer to make them fit perfectly
@@AirgunAlley I EVEN PAINT MY REGULAR .172 STEEL BB's TO MAKE THEM FIT TIGHTER IN .177 RIFLED BARRELS ,PLUS IT KEEPS THEM FROM BOUNCING AROUND INSIDE BARRELS WHEN SHOT ,THIS IS WHAT CHIPS THE BARRELS UP !.
I BUY CERTAIN SIZE MARBLES AND COAT THEM ANY WHERE FROM 4 TO 8 TIMES WITH COATS OF PAINT .I BEEN SHOOTING MARBLES OUT OF MY PAINTBALL MARKERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS LOL ! .
I LIKE TO USE TWO DIFFERENT COLORS OF PAINT , THAT WAY I CAN SEE THE COVERAGE ,AND MAKE SURE I GET AN ALL AROUND EVEN COAT !.
NOW ON AMMO YOU WANT TO KEEP LOOKING THE SAME WAY ,USE CLEAR TYPE GLAZE FOR CERAMICS OR GLOSSY TYPE PAINTS ,REMEMBER A TIGHT FIT FOR AMMO IN BARREL MEANS ALL THE AIR BEHIND IT WILL BE THERE TO PUSH THE AMMO OUT OF BARREL , MORE AIR MEANS , MORE POWER ! ...
GREAT SHOW AS ALWAYS MY BROTHER ! , FOR SOME EXTRA FUN , FIND YOU SOME LAKES OR RIVERS AND SWAMPS TOO SO YOU CAN SHOOT AT LONGER DISTANCES TO GET YOUR NINJA PRACTICE ON .
YOU WILL SEE EGG-ZACT-LEE WHERE YOUR AMMO HITS BECAUSE OF WATER SPLASH .
I SHOOT AT FLOATING THRASH ,LEAVES,TWIGS AND STICKS , ETC.
I DONT LIKE SHOOTING AT WILD LIFE ,BECAUSE IF IM NOT EATING IT ,I WONT KILL IT USUALLY...
.NOW BROTHER ,FOR HUNTING CAPABILITY , YOU SHOULD GO TO ACADEMY AND GET YOU THE ( .22 UMAREX ORIGIN RIFLE
) ,ITS A PCP AND COMES WITH ITS OWN HIGH PRESSURE PUMP , IT HAS SOME SPECIAL FEATURES IN IT ALSO .YOU CAN DEF HUNT AT LEAST PIGS WITH IT .
I HAVE A NOVA FREEDOM WITH BUILT IN PUMP ,WHICH IS KINDDA LIKE THE UMAREX ORIGIN ,ITS REALLY AWESOME ,BUT I WILL BE GETTING THE ORIGIN SOON !!!
THE THING ABOUT WALMART AND ACADEMY SPORTS ,YOU BUY SOMETHING ,USE IT FOR A MONTH AND IF YOU DONT LIKE OR LOVE IT ,RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND !!!
Thie 30j version will be good for self defence, that 7.5 j is not good, it will be effective only with pepper pellets
The 30joule .50 caliber works much better
