I love this keyboard I am a busy working pianist in Miami I’ve got this thing 98% figured out as it is very user friendly Your sounds are now in a memory bank Very creative Thank you!
Dude, just came on your video! Fantastic! I just purchased this keyboard a couple of weeks ago, and you put a lot of great information into this demonstration! I think this keyboard, especially for the price, is incredibly underrated! I researched every keyboard out there, from Roland to Yamaha to Korg to Kurzweil. But each one fell short in some way. Either the piano sound was not as good or the other instrumental sounds were lesser quality. I know some people don't care for the touch on this, but even as a piano performance major in college and grad school, I think the GHS is fine for the vast majority of pieces I would play on gigs. Especially when you consider that all of the keyboards out there that would have a "perfect" touch and "perfect" samples would be up in the $4000 range. A really unbelievable instrument, and you showed its capabilities well!
Oh wow! At last a decent demo. I am sick of seeing people mug their way through tuneless improvisations and here you are playing something truly classical which really shows off the piano at its best. I don't care that there was some slowing of the pace or struggling to find chords. Yours is still the best demo I have seen. Thank you!!!
Max you're so cool! Got my brand-new DGX today and I've learned a lot setting these very beautiful voices onto my keyboard, hats off to you man! JC here from the Philippines.
That sounds beautiful. I'm loving this keyboard and I appreciate the tips on how to bring out the potential. One small thing, in future videos you should have a 15 second clip of what it sounds like before you dive into the details on how to do it. The settings will make more sense as the viewer watches, plus it's incentive once you hear how beautiful it is to stick with the video.
I have one of these, but never dove into the settings as deeply as you shown here. I have the Genos 2 as well, so that actually gets most of my attention, but now I want to go play with this one. You've inspired me to try some new things on it.
That's great to hear! Glad we could inspire you. The Genos 2 is fantastic, but there's a lot of hidden potential in the DGX70 too. Have fun experimenting with it!
I’ve really enjoyed watching your video, thank you. The sounds you have demonstrated with your beautiful playing is so inspiring. I am so pleased I found your video as I have this great piano and as I do not have much experience yet playing and have not seen any videos at all on layering etc. it was very helpful to me. I do hope you will be making more videos in the future. You have explained everything so well which is very good for people like me who want to learn but haven’t got the knowledge of all the many things that this Yamaha DGX 670 is capable of. Thank you again and hopefully you may have another video to watch!
I have just bought this amazing machine and am learning how to use it. I really like the voices you have created. This piano has such a great potential. Well done for your good demonstration.
Your playing is beautiful. Thank you for that. I'm waiting for my DGX670. It will be delivered next week, but I'll be back here as I learn to play it. Your instructions are clear and easy. Again, thank you for this video. Take care!
Thank you so much for your video! I added a pair of Klipsch R-51PM speakers to my DGX670 to give the keyboard more depth and presence in the room. You're setting combinations are beautiful and sound wonderful through them. I appreciate your sharing and demonstrations.
For the Ambient Piano, on mine, the Effect/ EQ: Reverb Depth & Chorus Depth says NOT AVAILABLE. any thoughts on how to fix it? , thanks can you make a video showing how do download more songs or style that are available from the Yamaha website . Thanks for the videos very helpful.
Thanks, enjoyed the video and additional your info regarding the various layer settings. Thus far, I’ve only used the Mixer/EQ to lower the volume on the layer. Funny, I recently found and utilized the same CFX & Strings Pad combination and it works great, particularly with the Mixer volume lowered to the 70-80 range. I also like using the Chamber Strings, which adds a bit more to the strings sounds. Actually all of the strings are really nice accompaniment if so desired. Look forward to any additional videos regarding the DGX-670, which I’m really enjoying.

I have just bought this keyboard which I like very much. I am fairly new at playing the piano and I have never learnt how to change settings etc. I found your video very good and very interested to learn more. I shall replay this video, many times I’m sure, to see what I can achieve. I am hoping you have made more videos demonstrating what you can achieve etc. I can see that in one of the comments, it was mentioned about having a clip of what the sound was like before being changed. I think that’s a great idea and maybe I shall find this if you have done further videos since this one I have just watched.
I got the DGX670 yesterday and I’m totally thrilled! Now, having hundreds of sounds available, all I want to do is add the ones you created…😉 nice job! Oh, and I have to practice like a madman to one day maybe being able to play like that….
Well thought out & executed… Max. Played beautifully, I hv a SX-900 so should be able to replicate most of these settings my SX-900. Unfortunately not over the full 88 key’s. I’m hearing better things about this DGX-70 every-time I tune into a DGX-70 blog or video. Well done Max . I’m one step more towards a purchase.😉
Can you show how to set up speakers through an external audio interface I have the Steinberg ur242 audio interface and can add speakers through that just want to see how u would do that, I want to be able to use the volume on the interface
Hi Ian! Air on a G-string is such a lovely piece to learn! For a rich and expressive sound, try combining the “Strings” or “Concert Strings” voices with a gentle “Choir” or “Warm Pad” in the background to add depth. You could also experiment with a “Violin” or “Cello” voice layered with a subtle “Harpsichord” for a Baroque feel. Just tweak the volume balance between voices to get the right blend. Happy playing, and enjoy bringing this classic to life! 🎶
Great presentation and descriptions. I've played on the DGX-670 at an audio center and just like the 660, the 6 watt speakers still sound anemic, yet it sounds brilliant on a good headset. So what is the best amp/speaker system to augment the DGX when performing in front of a small audience venue. I've been looking at a couple tower array systems, yet the mid-range sounds a bit distorted in my opinion (treble and bass are fine). Any suggestions?
Thanks for asking. I bought a used Yamaha Portable PA System Stagepas 1K amp/mixer with array speakers. It has Bluetooth and sounds pretty impressive if playing music via Bluetooth or direct, such as iTunes, Pandora/Spotify. A Kraft music rep suggested lowering the "gain" on the Yamaha, and I'll have a more realistic sound with the DGX. We're in the midst of a move, so really haven't been able to attempt the new recommended settings. Technology is an every changing dynamic and I'll keep pushing the innovation, but so far have really enjoyed the DGX-670, although recording and transferring to a thumb/flash drive has been very challenging and not as user friendly as I had hoped. There are a few questions about this. Did you try these out using different settings on volumes and depth first to come to a decision on a specific strength? Also, we can hear what the DGX 670 is producing and I am positively sure you hear a far different sound quality on your ear phones. This leads me to another question for the DGX670, are there any connections at the back to connect to high quality speakers to achieve the same quality from your ear phones? Mind you it does sound really good but there's no doubt whatsoever that my DGX660 sounds 100% better using ear phones.
Hi Colin, great question! Yes, I spent quite a large chunk of time prior to the video, deciding what sounds best, making changes to all these different settings as I went along. and yes you can plug into better monitors via one of the outputs at the back of the keyboard. The sound quality will of course be a touch better, but it wouldn't be overly noticeable in my opinion. Feel free to get back to us and let us know if you can hear the difference! Or if you're looking to buy a DGX-670, or monitor speakers etc, then feel free to contact us at sales@epianos.com. Many thanks, Max - ePianos
