36:16 I love that Joker here directly calls out Speezy for skipping to the solution before he even saw the problem by going directly to the roof instead of trying to save the hostages downstairs. Honestly i just love this type of speedrun video, your longer ones give me more to watch, with minimal cuts, and it makes this whole experience much better. It just makes me wish you had a VOD channel to watch.
One thing I love about Arkham Asylum is how subtly unsettling it is compared to the other Arkham games. I think it's mostly a compilation of small things, like the way you run into fewer and fewer friendly faces as the game progresses until there seems to be none left, the Scarecrow scenes, even the little jingle whenever they say stuff over the PA system. It all just makes you feel more and more alone and hopeless as things progress, and it's creepy in a way very few things are to me. I normally find scary and horror movies to be genuinely boring because they just don't frighten me or bother me at all, but Arkham Asylum hits me with a weird feeling of dead that almost nothing else has ever been able to.
I recommend you play Portal 1. As someone who has played both, I can guarantee you're gonna get that same, or at least similar, sense of "dead" and hopelessness.
I think something was lost in the wider, open world of the other games. The tight corridors of the asylum, seeing less and less friendlies, Scarecrow, that entire glitch sequence(seriously cannot express how good that was), Croc's entire incredibly tense fight and the way he was teased earlier through the game. It really gives you the opportunity to be Batman, hanging from parapets and diving down on unsuspecting goons. However, it also shows you just how tense and dreadful it all is. How Bruce constantly looks over his shoulder, around every corner, checking and double checking things. Hell, some of the details and easter eggs you can find yourself are unsettling as hell. On top of all that, it's all packed in so tightly and so seamlessly. It's genuinely a perfect game imo, a true 10/10.
fun fact, I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that Arkham Origins happens over a period of about 6 hours, and that's roughly how long a 100% speedrun of Origins lasts. (though it's closer to 5 and a half currently)

@@jewosjowos2832 Spider-Man’s backstory is simple enough. Peter Parker, on a school trip, gets bitten by a genetically-enhanced radioactive spider, giving him superpowers by morning. He initially exploits this power set, and intentionally ignores an active crime he witnessed, which through sheer unfortunate coincidence ends up with his uncle dead. Having learnt his lesson, he goes on to use his powers for good. Batman is a little different. Bruce Wayne, a young teenager, is exploring a cave during summer vacation. The cave, being a cave, is full of bats. Unfortunately, Bruce lives in Gotham city, a horribly crime ridden and corrupt city, where it’s always raining, and every building looks like it belongs to the Addams family (so, think Detroit) and one thing that Gotham is known for is its horrible techniques when it comes to disposing of nuclear waste. And who just so happens to have gone into the nuclear waste cave? That’s right! Bruce! He walks in, gets attacked by several bats, and walks out looking like he got mugged by vampires. By morning, he realizes that he now has bat-themed superpowers! He initially exploits them to earn cash, cheating at sports games and such. On a walk with his parents, they ended up getting mugged. Bruce didn’t utilizes his powers because he knew his parents would realize he had used them to cheat at sports, and through brief seconds of inaction, Bruce’s parents were shot, by a distinctly NOT radioactive bullet. If it WAS radioactive, they would have gotten bullet themed superpowers. Bruce vows to beat the hell out of every criminal he meets. Finally, Clark Kent, an orphan, was adopted by two loving parents, who lived in the countryside. Clarks parents often warned him of terrible beasts out in the woods, such as Bigfoot, or the Moss Man, or even the Mystical Accountant. Despite the warnings, Clark decided to go out into the woods at night with the exclusive purpose to find at least one of these creatures. Low and behold, he did, in fact, find the mystical accountant. And, of course, if bit him. Running home, Clark discovered that he started to develop magical powers that were, for whatever reason, thematically unrelated to the mystical accountant. He could fly! He could lift boulders! He could shoot lasers out of his eyes! And he could breath, really, really hard! He took on the name Superman, as he couldn’t think of a unifying theme that would tie all of his powers together. His parents were fine, though. They weren’t murdered.
@@jewosjowos2832 If you still haven't learned superman's backstory, I think he's like, an alien that got sent to earth as a baby? I just beat this game for the first time today so it's really interesting to see someone play through it in a completely different way
Really great run. Amazing you commented all of it. Great game Atwell. Surprised 100%ing this only can take 3 hours lol
I also find a neat speedrunning trick: during the cutscene where joker takes Batman to the asylum in scarecrows 3rd visit the skip button is replaced with a purple j and if you press j on the keyboard it will skip the cutscene
I started with Arkham Night and became a fan of the games. Never got to play this, but this speedrun is great for me to catch up lol
I also started with Knight
I'm late but same
I started with Asylum, currently playing City and soon will move on to Knight
@@UndertaleFan-cx2mc enjoy the journey my friend.
@@KaranChauhan-rf8wt Thanks
Arkham Asylum was impressive for a game made in 2009 and so far is my #1 game of 2024
But I’ll see how Arkham City does for me as I move on, since I’m 56% through the entire game now, trying to get EVERYTHING on the map
Thank you for making longer content. I know most people hate it but I love It
"im not crazy, im batman," sure sounds like something a crazy person would say
With the weirdly placed question marks, finding them without a guide was mostly a matter of running around with detective mode on (or flying around where possible) until I spot the paint. It took a while when I was younger.
Vents: *exist*
Batman: It's free real estate.
I’m surprised a 100% speed run doesn’t involve all the challenge maps. Those were so fun and so frustrating
I had an adrenaline spike at 45:03, missed the joker teeth. Imagine if that messed the whole run up.
as a vet to this game, seeing you play this game makes me hope you play the other ones aswell, but still i love this game just as much as the others
"He's like, yo! Look at my dude!"
That's how you get arrested Joker...
Shout out to your dedication bro. How you remember everything is impressive. Keep going👏👏👏
R.I.P Kevin Conroy my Batman
Nice work! Would love a series of this; arkham city and arkham knight are two of my absolute favorite games
I have a question, do you memorize everything you have to do or do you have a script and you read it? If you memorize everything you've got to do its amazing
The fact no glitches were used makes this the best speedrun I have seen so far, I am no fan of the glitches.
This dude’s channel is underrated
How is a channel with 2.35 million subscribers underrated?
I absolutely adore this game, it is so fun and well made.
45:01 am I crazy or did he just miss one of the teeth?
Oh he for sure did
45:03 seeing him miss a single tooth made me scream, thank god he came back 10 seconds later to get it
Great run! Jokes are fresh, commentary is fun and the editor absolutely have edited out like more than an hour in small cuts so the run is easier to watch... Hats down!
It's a bit late, but double tapping R2 allows you to use the claw without having to select it iirc.
man ham aslume speedrun❓
I actually remember when I played this as a kid and at night around 2 am the glitch part of Scarecrow happened. The game got me so well with that and the morgue section of the dead parents. It is a horror game. :D Also I remember I actually did 100% the game I don't think I used the internet, only used the in game secret maps to figure out stuff, but it was like 10 years ago so who knows. Thanks for the speed run now if I want to play Arkham City, I do not have to play Asylum again for the story! :)
Damn he actually did a 2 hour speedrun, madman
Papers please was almost 6 hours
1:57:22 That one is actually easy to find if you're used to the question mark puzzles. You just intuitively know it is high up due to how these puzzles work, and just get high.
is the jikler real!?!?
Rip to the guard who thought mentioning he has a child was going to make any difference to the people that are locked up in arkham because the death penalty doesnt exist
Easily one of my favorite games of all time
Arkham Asylum is my favorite Batman game! Amazing speedrun!
