- Today, we put Chemical Guys V Line Compounds and Polishes through the Apex Detail Review Process! The kit includes 16-ounce bottles: (1) V32 Optical Grade Extreme Compound, (1) V34 Optical Grade Hybrid Compound, (1) V36 Optical Grade Cutting Polish, and (1) V38 Optical Grade Final Polish.
The full V-Line Kit can be used to restore paintwork, clear optical plastics on headlights and tail lights, wheel finishes, carbon fiber, and any other exterior car part that is shiny or clear. The refined micro-abrasives of the V-Line come in coarse compounding grits, and refined polishing grits that can remove wet-sanding marks with just a dual-action polisher.

Thanks for not being a product line snob. I enjoy the fact that you review almost everything.
I had so much dusting. Cut was unsatisfactory. Unfortunately bought the kit with the full range as well as two sets of the pads. Switched to Sonax Compound and Perfect Finish and Lake Country Pads and life is good.
I had same issues. 4 big bottles and a full set of pads. Wont use them anymore.
Tried one more time. Orange pad V32, moderate swirled panel. Zero success, all kinds of dusting. Tried three times, averaged about 4 passes before wiping, and cleaning up all the dust. Tried Sonax max cut and Uro fiber pad, perfect finish in three passes, zero dust. Finished out well, no need for polish.
@@bradhone9168 It was my first time polishing one of my cars. It was such a disappointment. Glad I found products that's actually work.
You can also see the crazy dusting in their own video. They were using some medium cut polish and it dusted like Megs M100 I was like WTF so much dust from just a polish.
Thanks for taking the time to explain the line... but I will pass on these.
I tried chemical guys compound several years ago when I started detailing my own cars. Only problem I had was the cap would plug up after sitting a few months. Brian you are AWESOME you always test everything and share with all of us. Thank you for all you do.
The pads from Chemical Guys are very good... been using them for a few years as my go to pads...they are very good and durable.
Used these when I first started paint correction on my own vehicles, didn’t have much luck with them and switched over to other products and gave all the CG stuff away🤷🏻♂️
Exactly the same with me, the abrasives in particular are very dusty.
You forgot to mention an important part of using this range. If you have heavier scratches, start with the 32 and then do 34, 36 and then 38 and you will have an amazing finish. It’s not about just using one number and that’s it...it’s about starting with the highest number and if that doesn’t do it then go to a lower...and one you figure out which works (say, 36), then work backwards and do the 35 and then 38 (always finishing with 38).
I have never used Chemical Guy products, but they seem effective. Personally, I use 3D One for 90% of all my work now using various pads depending on the clear coat. As always, I appreciate the demo.
🥇 🏆
"Cutting to the chase" 😅 Nice pun Brian
Like you said, there's alot of compounds and polishes out there. They seemed ok. It wouldn't pull me away from anything I'm using now.
I've used 36 and 38 with great results using the hex logic pads which are really buff and shine pads. They are diminishing abrasive type so you need to work them until they are fully translucent for best results. If you are patient you can pickup most CG products at substantial savings via Amazon.
I too was enticed by the deals on Amazon. They are cheap but honestly I never reach for them. For me the experience isn't the greatest for my style of polishing.
Everyone has their own way of getting the job done. I know many detailers that only use 3D. I'm more a Menzerna / Meguiars polish and compound type of detailer.
For the money, they get the job done but I can't say I enjoy using them. Time is valuable and I hate spending time going back to clean-up. Something like Menzerna 2500 would cut about the same as V36 but doesn't dust on (with the flex 3401).
Just different opinion from Mike Phillips he says product, pad , machine and then technique of the uses is the priority of the the process. Different views from different detailing veterans. Nice video and the sound has been very good Brian.
I almost bought this a few days ago. The set. Looking forward to watching this tomorrow. I have a some scratches on my new black F150 I want to get rid off. I bought turtle waxes new black ceramic waxes but wanted to try something like this first..
If your truck is new, and has very fine swirls, get the hybrid solutions ceramic acrylic black polish. I used it as a one step on my truck with a lake country orange pad, and the results were crazy good. then top it off with the turtle wax hs black ceramic wax. If you only have light swirls no need for a compound, because you want to leave as much clear coat as possible. You will be impressed with the results.
I have a 19 Black F150 and I would advise to stay away from CG's. I love their Black Car wash soap but for polishes, there are too many other professional-grade products out there that you could access. I recommend a good look at Menzerna.
I do a lot of dumpster diving and curb shopping.. If i find some.. I will try it👍🏼😀
I have been using this line for the past few years on my 2013 Si , worked great . I recently got a newer vehicle and they did not work on the paint as well . I think for $50.00 and getting a complete correction setup it was pretty good to me . I did add the VSS and blacklight glaze to the kit . My car looked great ! That being said I went back to Megs and added Carpro products and I am getting better results however the products cost more .
Was happy to see a video without hate and just facts !
These were the polishes that I first used for correction. My 2 stage would be V32 then V38. Of course choosing the appropriate pads for the job. I agree fully with you on this review. V32 left me wanting more for a good cut and with less dusting. V38 is a pretty good finisher esp considering it comes from CG LOL.
What i like about the V series, like most of the CG line, you can get good results and they are "safe"...its hard to screw up
Great video as always Brian. The v line is good especially for people who are starting out or your weekend warriors. However there other products that cut far better and finish down nicely and save you money in your pocket. Chemical guys has too much of everything and not enough of 1 thing if that makes sense. Not profitable for a detail shop
@Kelden Dance tbh there really isn't a best compound, polish, or wax. Brian does a ton of series or versus products. But it really boils down to how you use it. I love sonax and 3d products but I'm very familiar with working times and the limitations of each type of product. Where as it may not work or be suitable for you. Also. You have to look at what type of clear coat you are working on. There are so many variables but imo. I think 3d is very good, cost effective and user friendly. Not the best but can be in the right hands.
Great review of these polishes!
Hi Brian, the sound is perfect with the new mic. Have a good day at the shop.🇨🇦
TH-cam is back!!!!
www.androidpolice.com/2020/11/11/its-not-just-you-youtube-is-down/
App was working fine. 🙂
Fire stick, not so much. 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you so much for this video! I agree totally, v36 and v38 are the best, heavy cuts are not for CG products, because they always tend to be user friendly I guess. You said you prefer something else when it comes to heavy cutting, what is that? 😁
good for soft clear coat i guess, like Asian cars. not much bite! ! so many products out there now! Good Review!
This is one of the very few times I have to disagree with Brian's rating. In today's market I would rate these as Average at best... And I'm being nice.
I loke the v series because of how simple it is to get aquatinted with what pads to use and what compounds to use. As i polish more and more i have been looking for a more high end product to get things done better and im still looking. But for now i like to do a v32, v34 and v36 3 step polish on bad areas. I have some very deep scratches on my truck from the woods and if it cant take them out it definitely blends them in to the point where they are unnoticeable.
My personal experience with the Vline is they leave marring regardless of pad, machine or pressure. Looks great under shop lights, but terrible under Scangrip inspection lights.
They are diminishing abrasives. If you dont work them completely until they virtually disappear you can see marring because they didn't break down fully. Also why it's important to not use too much
@@kikcodog they are just up to my standard of quality. There are much better options out there that don't take 5 minutes on each section for the abrasives to break down.
I called Chemical Guys several times about this issue and was told "W had a bad batch, it will be better next time" but it never was.
Off subject, really like your wall finish behind you, looks great!!
Chemical guys videos use a different pad (orange) with their V36. Do you think that made a difference in your results?
Worked with a detailer that uses these polishes , excited to see how good they are!
They're average at best, Brian was being generous, in my opinion. Definitely much better products out there around the same price range. Hell, give me a bottle of 3D One over all four of these products.
@@5hift6ear 3D One is my go-to product. I don’t have to guess if it’s going to work. It will. 🥇
According to CG, they recommend the yellow hexi pad with V32; orange hexi pad with V34; green hexi pad with V36; and white hexi pad with V38 - with either 5” or 6” sizes. But the 4” pads only come in orange, green, white, and black. Because of this, is it ok to still use the orange pad with the v32, green with v34, white with v36, and black with v38?
thanks for the review Brian! like the new grading chart!
Awesome review as always Brian!
Last month i bought water spot remover from Chemical Guys and IT does not work at all
Did you try V36 with Green Pad off video?, it should work too, nice vid by the way.
I'm brand new at the paint correction
I have debadged my 2012 harley and you can see where the emblem was
I have ordered this kit
Light scratches and a little cloudiness
Need recommendation and options that would get me good results as far as cutting and final polish
Thx
Super helpful video. Thank you.
awesome video and product review good friend. 36 and 38 work well.they need 2 stop flooding the market with endless products most of the time same product different scent.its 2020 no reason to have products that dust every where.lol.b well good friend
Damn you do a better job breaking these polishers than chemical guys. Great job
I just ordered the V series today and I also ordered the Chemical Guys C4/P4. Once I get them in, I’ll be doing a side by side comparison with those two along with a couple of other pad/compound combos (taping off my hood into four sections). If I like the V series the best out of the four, is there a problem going over the rest of the hood with the V series? If there isn’t a problem, what V series should I start with on the other sections?
Check out synergy worx ceramic soap. Only ceramic soap ive used that actually works and leaves real protection :)
Could you consider doing a review of CarPro Essence PLUS: Non-Abrasive Gloss Agent for ceramic coatings, bringing them back to life is needed? Thank you
I second this
Brian already did, look it up

@@craig.encinitas After I found it I remembered watching it. Silly me
Great video as usual!
I have a “new” car they suggested I use I use v36 with the green pad and finish up with v38 and the white pad...does that sound good to you?
First time polishing so I don’t want to get too aggressive with the polishing.
Thanks!
Yes, that's good. Or you can go Orange+V36 then Green+V38, don't worry it's really really hard to ruin something using CG products :) PS if it's a new car maybe you should not 2step it though, because if it's your first time it will take you a looooot of time to do the whole car 2 times, you can go just 1 Step with Green+V38.
@@racefun4 thank you so very much for your advice.
I really appreciate it!
They make really good glazes a waxes
Which one would u use if u has to do it by hand application one a vehicle with soft paint and light swirls?
Hi Brian. Nice video. Whats your thoughts on the polisher as I was thinking of buying a Torq? Regards
No IPA wipe on these guys?
You would want to use an IPA before protection, yes.
Thank you Brian I used the finishing polish with a uro fiber pad in a one step to clean up minor swirling but noticed the ever so slightest bit of haze left behind that needed a second run with a black pad. Am I doing something wrong or does the uro fiber only finish down so fine? I have tried this with a few cars and the results seem pretty consistent (especially black Chevy and Red Dodge clearcoat). Any insight would be awesome.
I thought you were going to try to sell me some kitchenware at the state fair with that headset. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You mentioned hard clear coat, what would you recommend for C6 Vette with light to moderate scratches? Chemical Guys has a fiberglass polish, would that be better to use?
Interesting I’m gonna try the pads.
What about the yellow pad?
On another note, did anyone else just have a playback issue with the TH-cam app?
Yes, it's been having playback issues worldwide the past hour.. Verge covered it already, I think it broke report spike records on DR like instantly.. 😁
Looks like they sorted it out quickly..
www.androidpolice.com/2020/11/11/its-not-just-you-youtube-is-down/
Yeah, me too. I thought it’s just me and my wifi but apparently it’s effect everyone.
@@aarons7267 Yes, that's the link I have published where the problem is for all devices.
@@1stfrompuertorico568 I figured something was wrong when I came to try comment before you only to see you hadn't commented yet 😅
First!! finally haha!
Awesome video and content as always! i bought it on sale the whole kit, pretty good overall!
Compound V?
I am just a guy that enjoys detailing my cars. I recently purchased a 2006 MX5 Miata and was wondering if you knew weather the clear coat is a soft or hard coat?
You find that out with a test spot hardness of paint changes due to many factors including time of day
This line hasn't even been updated in over half a decade I think.
Not a big fan of the Chemical Guys things I’ve tried so far. Seems like there are better, cheaper alternatives.
What be your favorite polish?
I tried this product and it doesn’t work well. I use the Griots products which work excellent.
Nice
You haven’t revew chem X products they are all over social media
how to buy?
Chemical guys not my favorite... but they still have some decent stuff
I hate chemical guys products over priced to many products out there less money works better
My friend you realize that they are a global firm? They have shops in every country almost, they have to be over-priced, and all their products are user-friendly, and I tell you they get the job done, in my Detailing Garage in Europe 80% of my products are CG. Of course they have marketing tricks, they make 10 types of 1 product with different labels, but if you are a Detailer you should know this stuff.. And chose the right one. I tried them all and I tell you 💯 they all do their jobs very well. Bit overpriced? Yes... But apple is overpriced too VS other brands.. Still works. Don't hate man..
I wouldn’t call myself a professional detailer and using chemical guys products lol 😂 good luck with that
@@Travisg5 Right, because being a professional is defined by what products you use. *rollseyes* Clearly you're not a professional. The very definition of being a professional is being paid for what you do. Being a professional also has to do with your skill set and experience. The other part of being a professional is knowing when to say something or not to say something.
@@Travisg5 Well.. Thanks I do have luck then I guess, because I make a ton of money :)) with CG products. 2nd of all I didn't call myself a professional and you are still hating, you guys never change hate its in your blood making you even blind saying very very stupid stuff 🤦♂️ face-palm.
Chemical Guys has to many products for everything. It's more line to newbies and weekenders. They just came out with a new foam lance. Nothing new just hype for those newbies.

Brian just a production note. Please look straight ahead. Your looking off to the right in your vids which looks like your talking to someone else and not your followers. :)
Nooooo! Man their are better stuff than this. So complicated system
Overall is shit.
Very expensive and very poor result.
Better zvizzer then this.
Cheaper and more better results
