Very nicely built in the true traditional method. Good strong rig. Gaff rig is nice for cruising. ( l had a gaff Spray one time). Well laid out interior is very well done. ⚓⛵But, with respect l would hesitate to say the Worlds best.
Why? Fiberglass sheathed wood/epoxy construction is vastly superior to just wood in strength/weight as well as rot resistance, fatigue strength, reliability and ease of repair as well as re-sale value. You'd have to be a sentimental fool to build in traditional wood construction techniques. Pretty boat but nope, not without at least fiberglass sheath.
@@Sugarsail1 🤔.. Hmm, fiberglass is better..well, yes. But no. And this brings us to the Harley Davidson conundrum. Basically, if I have to explain it, you just won’t understand.
20 years is to much for me. It is a life. I don’t think any result pays the price of waiting 20 years to start sailing. Better to sail any cheap fiberglass boat now than wait 20 years to sail a perfect boat.
@@evinwhiteson4902 I start sailing as a kid. I’m 70 now. There is no 100 in this equation. Each decade counts a lot in the sailing game. It’s one thing to make a long passage on heavy seas with 30 years old and a completely different one with 60 years old. My message to those who plan to much is: Don’t wait to start sailing. I’m now thinking about selling my sailboat to buy a trawler.
@@evinwhiteson4902 Very true. And we don’t know that he wasn’t sailing elsewhere while building his dream boat. Hell, if you’ve got the opportunity to build your dream whatever, might as well take it!
You have to appreciate that for some people, the journey of the build is their destination. They don't want to sail all their life, they want to build a boat.
Let Guy & Estelle know what you think about the boat! 👇
Beautiful nice and shiny
22 years of perfection. You Sir, are a master builder.

Wow, just wow! We are also building a gartside boat. Rainbear is big for 38ft!
Very impressive effort, amazing.
Funny, for every boat there is a dreamer behind it with all their dreams wrapped up into it.
A proper, solid wooden boat. Outstanding craftsmanship and an achievement to be very proud of. Congratulations!
It sure is!
Despite high cabine it all looks great lines - just works! 👍

Tally Ho has you covered in most areas. Beautiful yacht just not the worlds best.
Awesome design. The open plan you went with should be a template for anyone. Very well designed. That's a true World Cruiser.

One of th most beautiful boats on the coast. I'm curious as to why she is for sale? Another project in the works?
Did you by any chance meet Leo Goolden when you were in Port Townsend?
Lovely. Who was the designer, if I may ask?
Paul Gartside
🎉
The boat is great but those sunglasses... man's got steeze
It seems the only thing government is good at is planning so remember this next time it's plan and not Pan.
Sorry, SHOW THE BOAT.
Do NOT tell me..., show me/us.

For some folks, the build is half the fun. There’s sometimes also financial considerations to bear in mind.
20 years out of 100 is not much. The average build is 7 years
