Congratulations to the winners and thank you Pete for advocating with the companies who are reaching out to you to include International watchers. Such great alternative ideas for those palettes as well. Attaching the pans to the flip out tray is something I never would have even considered. Such a smart idea!
Aww! You remembered me! Thank you for answering! ❤❤❤ As soon as you mentioned the name of those magnets, I paused the video and placed the order on Amazon cause in PR I can't find them. 🙄 Then I came to finish watching the video. 😊 Thank u again for the FOUR options! I wasnt expecting so much useful information. ❤
I used to use those square sticky magnets to glue to the pans but I got so frustrated that they lost their stickiness or the hold wasn't strong enough and the pans fell that I started to use glue dots but THAT gets annoying when I want to rearrange the pans and I break a nail trying to pull the pan out😅 congratulations to the winners! 🎉wohoo!
But the minis are so darn cute! I have a 2"×2" and a couple of 1"×1.5" sketchbooks. Haven't decided what to do with them but looking at them makes me happy. Also have an Altoid tin with 15 half pans (I work small!) and that's plenty for me for vacation or at my work desk. Always on the lookout for mini sets.
Saying you like it is a legitimate reason and I understand that but when people say because it's lighter or I can't carry it unless it's the size of a fingernail, then I get a little suspicious. I am actually working on a small set right now. It'll be in a video eventually. 👍🏻
"The mother of clips" - I use those in the summer to clip a fan to my monitor 🙂 Thanks for the reminder to use those tiny magnets. I bought them to use them for book closures for self made sketchbooks and now I'll use the remaining ones for the pans. Good that I'm some kind of horder and didn't throw them away yet
Good job Pete. Congratulations to the winners and thanks for the tips to fix pallets. For those of us of a certain “maturity” who don’t use drills, do you have another solution?
The rivets are soft aluminum. You could sand them off from the bottom but it would take a little while. I would fix a rough grit (80-120 grit) to a block with staples and rub the pan on the block not the block on the pan. Or if you had a small palm sander that would work. Then you just turn it on and let the machine do the work. If you can't do that, ask someone you may know to do it for you who has a drill. If that fails, throw away the insert pan and just use the magnets in the tin. That's how I've done it for years and years. The bumps don't bother me. 👍🏻
I have to laugh. I love the tiny books and painting in it, also love my tiny pallet, however, go on Pete, send me the $50.00 and I’lI throw away my mini book and pallet 😂😂😂hahahahahaha. For me it’s just fun and funny playing with it. I love to try almost everything. A big congratulation to the winners. 🎉. 🎉🎉 😊. Great Giveaway Pete.
Thank you Denise! 😂 I don't mind them so long as they fit full pans. I just like to rant about them because everyone always tries to go smaller and smaller. They obsess about it. I don't mind at all if people enjoy painting small. That's their right to enjoy their process. It's the reasons they give that irritate me. They don't make sense. Don't tell anyone, I actually have a small palette I'm working on. It'll be in a video soon. Shhhh! 🤫
@@IllustrationsByPete I will not tell a soul. 😂. Here is the truth about my Mimi palette each place hold about one drop of paint. 😆🤣. What the heck ya gonna do with that but have fun and a laugh. 😂.
@@IllustrationsByPete I’ll bet! Thanks for all the tips! I’m going to also take those annoying metal things out of the my travel palettes. What the hell is the point of those, anyway? They don’t hold the pans in! I think they’re there just to make our eyes twitch.
I have a tiny pocket Seamiart palette and I can still fit an entire Daniel Smith split primary full pan set in it. This is the way. Cannot deal with half pans (or god forbid, smaller!).
Congrats winners! Pete. What kind of glue are you using to attach the magnets to the pallets. I am one who has tried the square magnets. They don’t work. Your right
That's a great question and I should've mentioned that. I use crazy glue. I have used it for years and I've never had a magnet come loose. I hope that helps. 👍🏻
You do not need to drill the ‘rivets’ out. Actually they are not true rivets but the bars are sort of crimped on. They can be levered off with an ordinary table knife and they will just pop off easily. I can usually fit 12 full pans in one of those tins. Another tip to stop the tray rattling is to bend the tabs on the sides of the tray slightly outward, this will ensure it clips into the tin and does not rattle. The same things apply to the longer style tins usually used for a 24 half pan set. The even larger tins with four rows of clips can also be adapted, and you can use them for gansai colours, though you will not get a full set in if you have 36 or 48.
The small enamelled palettes, heavyweights, or sometimes called whisky painters palettes will. Fit in a women’s pocket and carry 12 half pans. Some of these boxes also have a water tank and are a bit deeper and heavier. I prefer the one without a tank.
I'm sure it can but the ring would have to be rendered useless. If it moved I'm sure it would create gaps. On the inside of the palette, where the ring is, it isn't indented like the rest of the tin. It sits up so you could mix a little on it but you couldn't use a very wet puddle because it would run off into the wells beside it. 👍🏻
You must have a messy supply bag. 😂 I guess it depends on what kind of paint you have and where you live. It's so humid during the summer here that my paint would be ruined if I did that. Probably mold within a day or two.
Congrats to the winners, and congrats Pete 40 entries is a far cry from no one entering!
It sure is. Thanks! 🙂

Hahaha I JUST ordered the"nano palette" and it comes with a tiny sketchbook. I'm so excited 🤣

Congrats winners! And Pete, hilarious as always!

I hope this gives you some more options. I have never had one of these magnets fail and I've used them for about 9 years or so. 👍🏻

I agree the flat magnets suck lol congrats winners!
They may work on a refrigerator but they don't belong on a palette. 👍🏻

I am the same way. You never know when you'll need it. I'm trying to get better. 😂
As soon as you started talking about those silly little mini palettes I laughed. I feel exactly the same about them
They are ridiculous, right? 😂
@@IllustrationsByPete Yes, they sure are.

Congrats to the winners!
😂 I just might need to do that. 👍🏻

poster tac works great for attaching pans to the inside of a palette
I've never gotten along with it for long but I know a lot of people who use it. 👍🏻

I’m going to need to invest in some of those magnets! I get so tired of trying to get magnets to stick.
These work extremely well. 👍🏻

If it fits whole pans then I can't complain. I'd rather have a few full pans than those little dots that most of them hold. This is the way. 🙂

I wish women’s pockets were big enough for watercolor palettes 😭
if you use a tiny one it's possible I have one that's like 2x1 inch

What glue do you use to attach magnets to the pans?

Can caulk seal up the ring holes?
I'm sure it can but the ring would have to be rendered useless. If it moved I'm sure it would create gaps. On the inside of the palette, where the ring is, it isn't indented like the rest of the tin.
