I originally came here looking for a DIY on a 2wd 86 D150, but I started watching this video and couldn't stop. Very very well done Sir! Regardless of the fact that it wasn't what I needed, I really enjoyed it! Thank you!
Been looking for a while now for a decent video on how to take the rotors off...I have a 74 w100 and I have to replace the u-joints on the front and this is the part I'm at now..great video!
I'm going to be buying a 1979 W150 from a friend, and it has this axle(former Department of Agriculture truck), so I'm happy to see this video is up for when I do the brakes!
Nice video. Never had a dodge before my 77, and wish I would have known the front bearings had a grease fitting like that. Your video was a help to see what i would be up against before doing front wheel bearings in my w200
thank god for this video.... i got the rotors but i bet i will need the bearings and seal i need to make a puller like that... it took a 8 foot bar to loosen that nut...
Well it's been about 30 years ago but I replaced the POS hub and wheel bearing setup on a 75 power wagon with a 78 chevy. You get locking hubs but the front driveshaft will still turn.....You must get the front end alignment for a 78 chevy....The garage will look at you funny but if you don't it won't be properly aligned. Replace everything from the axle housing out.....brake calipers and all....
carwash559, thanks for the view and the compliment. the stock hub and rotor rotor replacement is pretty much as the video showed. if you're going to do a part time kit i recommend the milemarker or a similar kit. to be true 2WD you'll also have to modify the transfer case and there are other videos on YT of how to do this. IMO a 2WD is not worth the cost unless you're gonna put on many miles.
More like how to totally fuck up your seal and bearings, the 6, 12point bolts ARE there for a reason, there used to remove the hub and bearings without destroying anything !
Dana axles were used on chrysler ford and chevy models with the differences being differential location, suspension mounting points, steering, and brake hardware. you'll need to check all of these conditions to see if the HD 8 lug from a ford will fit. also you'll want to confirm the gear ratios are the same.
I have a 79 power wagon 150,I'm replacing the rotor, but I'm having a hard time loosening the hub but. Is the axel nut for the driver side a reverse thread? I have broken 2 craftsman sheater bars and not accomplishing anything. Need help any with suggestions are welcome.
I'm having a problem putting the lower and upper balljoints in with the housing together while the axle is in. There's not enough space to put together. How do I do it?
Is the hub and rotor two pieces on a W200 with an 8 bolt hub? I tried to drive them through with the hammer but it didn´t work and I am not sure if the rotor and hub actually seperates.
Inspect the old bearing and the race. If they are ok (no burn marks, no scoring, scratches or pits) then you don’t need to replace the outer race. In the video we did not need to replace the outer race. It has been a while since I had that apart, so I’m going from memory-you need to remove the 6 bolts that hold the shield (shown in the video, but we did not remove that). Once the shield is off you may be able to pull the old race out and press in the new one. However, if the outer race is shot, chances are that the inner bearing and race are also bad. I’m not sure exactly how to get at those, but assume that you need to remove the bearing carrier to do that.

Do you still have to cut the other race of the bearing off if you press the hub out normally?
My hat is off to you!!
can you do this on a 1978 dodge w150 with the wheel bearings

Anyone happen to know what the torque for the 6 3/8 " wheel bearing hub bolts are supposed to be
I know this video is old but can you tell me at all where you got your bearings
I bought mine at carquest a-22 is the part number national wheel bearing
Does anyone know where to order this Rotor and hub?
can I replace a 2001 5.9 to a 1998 dodge ram body style
"When" lmao
So you dont need a press for that bearing??
As I said in the video, if you have a press then you should use it. Otherwise use a hammer and hope for the best.
What about the inner wheel bearing
