Im really glad Gar Samuelson made it on the list. IMO, he is (was) one of the most underrated drummers in metal. He was way ahead of his time. Peace Sells was the first time I heard the "machine gun" effect, and it wasn't until a few years later that Sepultura's drummer incorporated it (a bit sloppy too).......then along comes this dude named Vinnie Paul.....that guy took "machine gunning" up a few notches. But it was Gar that started it.

ive always liked samuelson more than menza and i was genuinely surprised and happy to see him instead of menza. dont get me wrong, i love menza and his work, but there is something about samuelson's drums that feel they have so much more groove and feel. listening to a samuelson drum track is like listening to the drum version of master of puppets guitar. there are so many notes in between its crazy

It's pretty funny when I talk to people about Death and mention Sean Reinert WHO was in Death on the album called" Human". Some people only knew Gene Hoglan, Richard Christy, Bill Andrews, and Chris Reifert. But can you mention Rick Colaluca from WatchTower, he wasn't that big but he sure did influenced Fates warning, Dream Theater, Cynic, Atheist, and Death before and a lot of people don't know that.

I always thought Pete Sandoval's signature move was his 4th note snare + 16th note ride + 32 note double bass feel like at the beginning of Rapture, Lion's Den, Sworn to the Black, Dawn of the Angry, etc. Of course always a different accent here or there but that super fast double bass with slower snare behind it was so ever present on many of the classics.

Your Flo impression was hilarious but I still don't think it did him justice. I call redo! My favorite thing Flo does is about 1 min into Crown Of Horns. It's a 16 bar pattern that goes skank, double bass, skank, blast. That or the whole beginning of Graves of The Fathers. But he is probably most known for the breakdown of Slit Your Guts or the verses to Phobophile. Being able to switch gears so quickly is what I think makes Flo so unique. All those are pretty good examples I think.
Philthy Animal - Mortorhead. He kinda started the whole double bass thing and helped pioneer speed metal.
Steve Ashiem (Deicide) would be nice to see. Who hasn't tried to figure out that weird bass drum part on Sacrificial Suicide?
Darkside from Mgla has earned a place in the metal drummers elite. Exercises In Futility has great cymbal work and so did With Hearts Towards None. Either track VII off of WHTN or VI off of EiF.
Trym - Emperor. His endurance an Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk is just god like. That and his accents on his ride hand really add to the repetition and to me good black metal is all about repetition.
Frost and Hellhammer are more or less the same drummer. Not a lot to distinguish them by. They could be the next George Kollias/ Derek Roddy. Even though I think Kollias uses the same goddamn drum fill on every song and Roddy is all over the place.
A ton of people complained that your Nico Mcbrain in part 1 wasn't accurate at all because Nico has never played double bass. He is usually playing his hi hat with his left foot. Nico's drumming is all about nuances. And it's actually difficult and technical at times. His fills are whole bars sometimes. Out of everyone from the NWOBHM he is the most tasteful drummer.
Kevin Talley to me Justifiable Homicide off of Dying Fetus' Destroy The Opposition is my favorite thing he's ever done. That song is fun as shit to play along to.
David Haley (Psycroptic) that song Cold off the new album is fun to jam to.
John Longstreth (Angelcorpse, Origin) Personally I only like the first Origin album and think the others are too fast and have no groove. But there is no denying his gravity blast stepped the bar of death metal up way high.
I would say Obscura but they haven't ever had a solid lineup as far as drummers are concerned.
Djent isn't metal and I don't think any of these kids are even worth mentioning. It just encourages falseness among poseurs. So if you didn't do any Djent in round 3 I think it would be a service to metal heads \m/
