Having always had 1000cc bikes, i tried this MT09 SP last April and never looked back. This bike is a absolute blast and not once have i missed the 30-50 extra BHP i have had previously on bikes the last been a GSX 1000 GT. I get between 47-52 mpg depending how i ride, tank range about 140-150. The S22 tyres are really good, but rear one's last about 2000-2500 miles. Bought the SW Moto Blaze saddle bags (£349 including fixing kit) for mine and even been touring on it. And now a triple convert! Great bike/Great value.
Thanks for the comment mate, as you said you dont notice and fall short with the engine, there isn't an area where you are wanting more that something bigger could provide, again Yamaha have done a great job. Enjoy your ride mate.

wow thanks Carlton. Glad you're enjoying the videos, always nice to hear 😁. New demos start coming out end of Feb/march, this winter time can't go quick enough 🙂

the screen being larger on the 24 is a so so for me in terms of what I want, I prefer slim line. I am looking at getting a 23 model for the fact that you also sit more upright and more comfortable for us big 6'2 guys. The fact that I love the front end a hell of a lot more on the 23 also is a bonus. I guess the brembos not being on them is a mild dam moment but if you slap some good compound pads in you will be on par I reckon.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Thanks for the concern 😁. I ride duck foot when I’m just casually riding. Then when I’m going to have some fun I put my toes on the foot pegs don’t worry 😆🤙
Great video 👍 love my 09 the only gripe I have is the silly fuel gauge and tank size but apart from them it's a great fun bike to ride 👍 the difference is cruise/suspension and colours
its funny, when I got my MT10 new I went standard and didn't really think about the SP, but with MT09 I would definitely go SP. Fuel range is always an issue with the MT line up haha. But not as bad as what my Aprilia was :P
Engine braking? Are you saying there is setting for this Gen 3 mt engine braking .. I had 2016 model decel engine braking off throttle changing gears was one of the things I didn't like about mt until I I got flash and quickshifter up the box.. Helped engine braking and decel this is good to know..
The price difference will be pretty huge honestly, i've seen used/last year models going around 8-9k on the MT09SP yet the 2024 is around 12k. Is it really worth 3-4k? not for me anyway.
@@Mancastlehowever in that 8-9k price bracket I chose the bmw s1000r instead. however if the Mt09 sp could be found for 6-7k it would've most likely picked the Mt09 sp
4:24 @@DSR1YTmy decision came down to the Street Triple versus the MT09. I preferred the Triumph, but you can't go wrong with either. Brilliant engine but the ergonomics are way too upright for sporty twisty riding. And I could not get the suspension to work for me at all at 66kg without gear... Went back to the MT10sp with zero regrets. If the new version is 'sportier' in ergonomics, I could definitely be tempted... That motor is so much fun and sounds brilliant with an Akra full system!
I love my MT10. But I did consider the MT09. Like you said, Yamaha slipped up on the headlight design on both bikes 😫. Buy yeah, the 10 is a thirsty girl, but worth it! It's not miles per gallon it's smiles per gallon!
you got wrong mate, its smiles per miles 😄. Fuel range and rear tyres was the biggest thing with me, always getting through rears very quickly 🤣. Dont know why though

thats it mate, you can upgrade some of the parts to bring it in line with this new model.
Very nice bike, my nephew's got one, very nice engine soundtrack my 2nd choice, my Aprilia tuono v4 in my humble opinion can't be beaten, ride safe 👍
I used to own the tuono as well. Without a doubt that has the best stock sound. Especially when the flapper valve opened up. Man I miss that bike 😁
It's KYB forks, ohlins only on the rear
Well spotted mate. You’re 💯 right. I’ll do better next time 😁
KYB front forks, not Ohlin. I have a 2022 MT-09 SP and agree it’s a brilliant bike.
Yeah seen my mistake yesterday. Too late now 😁🤦🏻. Still a great bike and great suspension. 🤙
