When you add water to juice it is no longer considered a juice but a soft drink... I wrote to capri sun and they sent me like a 1 page long exolanation as to why they legaly can't call capri sun a juice.
As an Italian citizen I am struggling to believe these scams even exist. I'm not saying that Italian food is immune from misleading packages or chips bags full of gas, but man I'm glad we have strict quality control laws here! My mother works in food defense and always told me that an error like "100% juice / 27% juice" could potentially cost a lot of money to the company, not to mention that all the goods with that packaging must be destroyed. I did haha but I also grrrd so much. (P.S.: "Raviolo" is the singular of "Ravioli", like, "here's a sad raviolo swimming in a sea of emotionless sugo (tomato sauce)") (P.P.S.: I know it sounds a little bad as a term but "Food Defense" is the name of the department. She and her colleagues are responsible of Analysis and Tracking for incoming and outgoing goods and they make sure everyone follows HACCP and other safety protocols.)

I work at a retail chain that sells tones of Bob Ross merchandise. I have to resist telling ppl to watch the Netflix documentary that reveals how shitty the company making all this stuff is to Bob's family. Like, its so infuriating because ppl love this shit, and all the profits are going to this giant company that screwed his family over. Breaks my heart.

And while I was watching I was laughing, but I also came to to realization that if companies could change your dreams into advertisements to sell their products, they would.
That Proactiv one is not what people think it is. The reason the box is that big while the contents are that small is because the boxes are standardized. It would cost the company more money to set up an entire production line for a new type of box, when they could just use the same boxes they're already making. And that's what they choose to do. There's nothing malicious about it, they probably state the fluid content on the box anyway.

I've been genuinely wondering this a lot too lately. advertisements are literally plastered everywhere in our world; online, in real life and probably even in our homes in subtle ways. it's so crazy how much this stuff is shoved down our throats and how we probably won't be able to escape adverts no matter in the world we may end up. crazy
I live in the US and I **think** we have a law about it here. Every spam email I get has a link to unsubscribe in very tiny print at the very bottom. I doubt they would include that if they didn't have to.
For email, if they don't include easy unsubscribe, just throw it to spam. Popular email clients eventually auto-mark that as spam for everyone, I think. For money subscriptions, call your bank.
I think where I live (France), companies that send people ad/newsletter emails have to add a link to unsubscribe in every email, which unsubscribes you directly when you click on it. So pretty easy already tbh
I have a bookmarks tab, that I label, if programming were that easy, and if I see those clickbaity images in news sites and what not, I find ones that seem to be a gem, and I save them in my “if programming were that easy” tab.

Wanting to get out and experience people in surroundings is one thing, but maybe find a few spots or limit time there. I go to my local coffee shop once a week, generally, and never see the same ppl on their laptops, but always some one or 2 on their laptops. So I guess we just accept it as part of coffee culture now and hey, if they like the place they will come a lot, as long as they buy something I don't mind it.

@@authoraves the percentage increase on the package is not allowed (even if some still write a more generic version) , the price raise instead is completely illegal in any variation ( another example would be releasing a product whit a discount on a price it never had and never will have ). The packaging shenanigans are legal but we have a tax on volume of the package which heavily discourages it, also pricetags here include taxes so you don't find out when it's too late. Sadly the internet advert bombarding and other dodgy practices are very much a thing here too

A lot of lower income people enjoy using coffee shops as a place to use the internet and feel social. The entire idea of Coffee Shops for centuries has been a place to socialize and do work on academic stuff. I signed up for a gym and 1 month later all gyms closed down for covid, they re-openend a few months later and started charging everyone again automatically. I went 5 months without knowing they were charging my card and they even double charged it for 2 of the months and triple charged it for another month. the standard rate is $50 a month so in total they charged my card close to $500. I called them and tried to get a refund and cancel my membership and finally after a week of calling everyday they agreed to refund me.

As someone who has connections in the industry through an organic farm who had to go through the process in Canada of becoming organic, and spoke with many people about marketing etc etc, the juice used is 100% juice. The product itself is not made entirely of juice, but instead made using 100% juice. Not saying that it's cool, but it's totally legal (maybe it shouldnt be though)

We need a law that makes canceling a subscription as easy as subscribing to things like newsletter sites and stuff on the internet.
I live in the US and I **think** we have a law about it here. Every spam email I get has a link to unsubscribe in very tiny print at the very bottom. I doubt they would include that if they didn't have to.
For email, if they don't include easy unsubscribe, just throw it to spam. Popular email clients eventually auto-mark that as spam for everyone, I think.
For money subscriptions, call your bank.
I think where I live (France), companies that send people ad/newsletter emails have to add a link to unsubscribe in every email, which unsubscribes you directly when you click on it. So pretty easy already tbh

Wanting to get out and experience people in surroundings is one thing, but maybe find a few spots or limit time there. I go to my local coffee shop once a week, generally, and never see the same ppl on their laptops, but always some one or 2 on their laptops. So I guess we just accept it as part of coffee culture now and hey, if they like the place they will come a lot, as long as they buy something I don't mind it.

@@authoraves the percentage increase on the package is not allowed (even if some still write a more generic version) , the price raise instead is completely illegal in any variation ( another example would be releasing a product whit a discount on a price it never had and never will have ). The packaging shenanigans are legal but we have a tax on volume of the package which heavily discourages it, also pricetags here include taxes so you don't find out when it's too late. Sadly the internet advert bombarding and other dodgy practices are very much a thing here too

I signed up for a gym and 1 month later all gyms closed down for covid, they re-openend a few months later and started charging everyone again automatically. I went 5 months without knowing they were charging my card and they even double charged it for 2 of the months and triple charged it for another month. the standard rate is $50 a month so in total they charged my card close to $500. I called them and tried to get a refund and cancel my membership and finally after a week of calling everyday they agreed to refund me.
That's lucky. Saves the money you would have spent fire bombing the building.

There's no air in the Lays. It's Nitrogen, to avoid oxidation. And it has a big space because it helps to reduce the broken Lays during transport.
