I can't believe this show dosent have a bigger fan base
People are basically stupid.
One of my hobbies is American history and teh show has been finished for 4 years and I didn't even know about it until just recently.
When it came out it played during shows that already had a fan base and people really didn’t want to skip their show for a new one. It’s been picking up lately though because with the climate of our political situation the left has gotten super “revolutionary” and in turn making the right also see rebellion as an unavoidable issue. Also because it’s a true story it doesn’t have the pazaz of a fictional conflict so it’s more intellectual emotions rather than walking dead where you can just throw zombies in to distract you to the fact they just want filler.
exactly they need to make sure its avialable on netflix hbo amaon everywhere, it was better than game of throne not much CGO apart from ships etc but was absolutely wonderful show , amazing every character is just so amaing !
Burn Gorman is a totally totally underrated actor. He is a brilliant actor and should be more appreciated, although he doesn't get much time to speak which is really annoying. Though I do love him playing with his phone during the interview

Watch man in the high tower. He plays The Marshal and he is a disgusting character lol but it just shows how good of an actor he is

Burn Gorman is such and amazing and underrated actor. He needs to be in way more stuff, I would love to see him go mainstream and get the credit he deserves.
I was so enthralled in the Turn Series. I watched all previous episodes on Netflix while recuperating from surgery. I'm so sad the series has ended. I loved it and the cast of characters were perfect for their paricular role. I didn't want it to end. I shall certainly miss it

dang it, wanted to hear more from burn gorman. what an amazing character he played and acted. watched the series at least 4 times through, hasn't gotten stale.
I couldn't help looking up the real characters on Wikipedia, and when I saw that Simcoe lived a long life, man...
also that he was much less of a problem to the ring than he was in the show lol
Seen the entire series twice. Great writing and acting, storyline parallels bit with the Broadway's Hamilton storyline. My wife found out through Ancestry.com that she had three relatives that found for Washington, including the battle of Monmouth.

My elementary school is in the same town where Major John Andre was hung. I almost bought a house on Andre Hill, it wasn’t in an open field.
Wish they would have given Heather and Burn more questions. They didn't even mention Torchwood, which is another show that Burn is famous for. I have to admit - I'm giddy that Hewlett is sitting next to Anna. I loved their romance.

Richard Rogers was my favorite character . I would love to see his involvement explored in this sort of interview
I understand why they couldn’t film the show where it all really happened, in the NYC suburban neighborhood near my hometown. Washington’s headquarters, the church where Andre was tired, the Inn where he was jailed and the hill where he was hung. It’s a beautiful place, they would probably enjoy having dinner at the 76 House, the Inn is exactly the same perfectly preserved. Great authentic food too.
“Where are the bombs coming from?!” Lol Clint Eastwood is a legend lol. Also I feel so bad, I can never remember his name, but the man that plays Hewlett played a Jew hunter in a show called “man in the high tower”. He is a great actor. He can go from noble gentleman to NAZI bounty hunter(as in collects bounties for the Nazi party) and then you see him in an interview and he is meek and polite and speaks softly. He definitely has a command over himself. He gets two thumbs up from me. I both love him and hate him 😂 he killed the old bear in game of thrones, he has strung up Jews for money in MITHT and he was a respected Tory in turn. Next we are going to see him play a single dad who is a clown. Obviously I don’t actually know that but his range is insanely good
Burn Gorman was great. I actually ended up feeling sorry for him by the end and actually really liking him as a human being.
I really wish there were more seasons

I find it kind of funny that a lot of the actors that play Americans are British, and a lot of the actors that play the British are American.

Ryan King Yeah Burn Gorman was born in America but he was brought up in Britain. In a weird turnaround his son was born in Cardiff whilst he filmed Torchwood , (his first daughter was born in England I think and I think his second daughter was born in America). And even more weirder they have moved to England to live though I think that he and his wife have separated
I just finished watching the series on Netflix and it's great.
I had ancestors here as far back as the early 1600's. Two of them were on the Mayflower. I also had ancestors that fought in the revolutionary war as rebels (my mother's side) and British ( my dad's side). Yay for the rebels.

Excellent show, but the story needs a retelling. So much history was missed. Caleb Brewster was a direct descendant of William Brewster of Plymouth colony who wrote the Mayflower Compact, the first document of self governance in America. The Strong family is descended from Elder John Strong freeman of Plymouth Colony. Magistrate Woodhull was not only a patriot, but it was he who was beaten by Simcoe, the hero of Canada. There were 2 churches not 1 in Setauket standing right next to eachother. They stand still to this day. The Presbyterian Puritan church was occupied and the Anglican Church of England (the second oldest in America) continued to have services. This echoes the conflict between the Church of England authority and the Puritan churches that gave rise to the Puritan rebellion and the beheading of the King. Cromwell, "the king is not the people!" The Talmadge family were Puritans as were the Strongs, Brewsters, and many more in Setauket. The Quakers (Society of Friends) came into being during the Puritan revolution with their founder George Fox. Fox met with Cromwell twice and Cromwell considered him a friend, but would not take Fox's recommendation to make Jesus Christ the King of England. Robert Townsend was a Quaker from Oyster Bay, but Patience Wright, Benjamin Franklin's spy in the Court of King George was also a Quaker from Oyster Bay. The chances that Mrs Wright did not know the Townsends is zero. Reverend Tallmadge's and Magistrate Woodhull's patriotism demonstrate that the Culper ring was not an isolated group of young people, but part of a general resistance to British rule on Long Island. Even the parishioners of the Church of England in Setauket were patriots. Selah Strong's cousin, Captain Benajah Strong, served directly under Major Talmadge and is buried in the cemetary of the Church of England, the Caroline Church.
Selah ,,, hope all is well - I grew up in Port Jefferson and spent many summer days traveling up and down route 25a in Setauket as a kid back in the mid 1970s. I’ve watched the series and find myself hating our public school system for hiding our rich home grown history from us. I’ve walked the grounds that many American heroes lived and fought on and didn’t even know it until a few years ago. That’s a shame !!! I’m a proud American and I appreciate everything our founding fathers and the many people that helped America become the land of the free and the home of the brave !!! Is the Three Village Church on 25a across from Deering Street one of the original Churches ?

The number 1 goal of films/ television is to be entertaining , and thereby presumably profitable .
BUT in this instance , the actual author/ historian was a consultant on season one , and producer for season two . So likely a greater degree of accuracy than typical .
It's fairly accurate. Almost all the main characters are real, but given a twist. For example, Caleb Brewster was a giant at 6' 4" and a direct descendant of William Brewster who wrote the Mayflower Compact. Abraham Woodhull was 10 years younger than Anna Strong who had 6 kids with Selah Strong at the time. She was a devoted wife who brought food to her husband while he was on the prison ship. Richard Woodhull, the magistrate, was a patriot and it was he who was beaten by Simcoe, the hero of Canada. Simcoe took over the Rangers from Robert Rogers and he was the commanding officer of Bannister the butcher Tarleton, the villain depicted in Mel Gibson's The Patriot. One could redo it more accurately and have just as entertaining a story.

We actually know that the founding fathers did have an accent that was more like the Bostonian accent as did the English. However, the English accent has changed since then due to the influence of the Indians from the subcontinent and all of the aristocracy that journeyed to and from India. The Indian accent influenced the English accent to become what it is today. Thus, the English accent of the 1700 was much more like the Bostonian accent of today.

The moderator is wrong....Florida was involved in the Revolution. Bernardo De Galvez captured Pensacola from the British for the government of Spain. Spain declared war on Britain as an ally of France, but refused to recognize American Patriots or the American government. There was also a skirmish near Jacksonville, (the Battle of Thomas Creek (5/17/1777), which was an ambush of Georgia militia by forces of Great Britain. A 3rd event happened at Alligator Bridge on June 30th 1778. And for the record, I was born and grew up 30 minutes from Saratoga, New York.
Even if the reolution failed- which I don't think would have happened even if Washington and the continental Army and Congress all were captured- USA would have got it's freedom again later. Unless the King of England seriously changed his attitude towards the American colonies, rebellion would have simmered and boiled over again and again until it succeeded. That's howI see it. Ireland fought and fought until it won it's freedom- and they were almost literally in Englands backyard, with less people than England had. America was half the wrld away, across an ocean, and twn times the size of England.

It all depends on the context and perspective .
From the perspective of " entertainment journalism " , too much blah , blah , boring history stuff .
From the context of this lecture series focusing on serious history , specifically intelligence methods and operations , Mr Houghton keeps it well focussed .
Interviewers should elicit great comments from interviewees- about a 1:5 ratio! This guy talks way too much.
The interviewer is TOTALLY wrong about the American Revolution not touching Spain/Florida where he says he grew up! The American Revolution DID TOUCH SPAIN & FLORIDA! Dumbass! Spain entered the war against Britain a year after France did as an ally. But even before Spain officially entered the war, they were already aiding the American Continental Army with numerous supplies, clothing, intelligence and money...LOTS OF MONEY! Sadly, France always gets the historical credit. But Spain and her Hispanic army is becoming more and more famous for their participation in helping Washington and securing the independence of the United States of America!
