If you want hear other sides of ABBA away from disco then try "Eagle" and "name of the game"
They also do some beautiful genuine ballads such as, "I've been waiting for you" and "My love, my life"

Yeah……I love the gallop in the second verse too😅, and the long held out notes at the end of the final chorus. Those girls could sing. Check out Hole in Your Soul as soon as possible. High energy rocker of a tune with a sublime interlude in the middle followed by a screamer of a high note held by Agnetha, IN TUNE, with a beat matching vibrato leading into a so-sad-its-over fade out which apologizes by hitting a brilliant chord you didn’t even realize you had been waiting for with breath held. A masterpiece!

For me abba is more than a musical group, they are people who have basically been blessed by a heavenly entity, because their songs, melodies, voices and arrangements are magical, Björn and Benny's talent for composing is incredible, it is demonstrated by the fact that half a century has passed, and their songs still sound today, on the other hand, the voices of Agnetha and Frida have nothing to envy to opera singers, their voice is a siren's song, a celestial choir, and I am not exaggerating when I say this, but it is a group that is made up of highly talented and professional people, ABBA is part of history, along with legends like The Beatles and Michael Jackson

The only filmed version existing for this gem is from a Bbc tv special from March 1979.And now is considered a superb document of that Abba era. You gotta check this sometime.Agnetha's seductive solo performance in the first 40 seconds of the intro is heartstoping!Agnetha was flirting with the camera but i bet that the cameraman must have fallen in love with her after this zooming to her facial expressions ha!ha!lucky guy.

You’re super nice to take the time to explain yourself about the lyric video versions. I totally agree and think that your approach is really smart. Not only is it easier for you as far as multi-tasking, but, not all songs have easy to hear or decipher the lyrics, particularly if it’s a song you are listening to for the first time. It makes believe that your reaction will be sincere and honest because you have listened and also gotten the lyrical content as well, which in most instances are integral in fully comprehending the song. I also appreciate your comments about the construction of a song, technically speaking, and how it progresses and how ABBA songs usually have really interesting transitions which makes them all the more interesting and enjoyable at the same time. I’ve loved the ABBA reactions I’ve seen from you so far and I’m looking forward to checking out the others.

Love your cap! Try Fernando by ABBA, but do the official video!!! Very folksy!! Edited to add: I love that you love the techno/electronic side of ABBA. Benny was a gear head, check out Lay All Your Love On Me or The Visitors for real electronic ABBA. I am probably wrong but I have often felt ABBA helped ring in the New Romantic and New Wave movements.

ILTMS ,we may love this but i think it might sound kinda weird to the ear of this rock dude since it's more classical-theatrical music flavoured so maybe out of his waters(?)or smth,no matter its majestic production.Lyrics are also great to this one.Btw The Visitors album is really blessed with great poetic lyrical context by Bjorn.

Loving that more ppl are reacting to the lesser known ABBA tracks. This one is special to me since i did a remix of it. We didn't have "techno" back then. We did however use all kinds of effects, but TECHNO is a modern type of music. What you're hearing is just a disco arrangement.

The interesting is that we pronounce Agneta ’ang’neta’ in swedish. It is a softer way to say the name by put an n after the first letter a. The g is not supposed to stress in a hard way.

What i mean is that they ,Björn and Benny once told that they didn't think about money but that it would sound as close as their studio version as possible. So xtra people where needed. Who and when is not interesting. They were also mostly a studio band and back then playback was often use, as one can see in television performance from that time.

Sometimes I have differences of taste and opinion about ABBA's songs and albums.
We can not always like everything and/or everyone
And this is one of the cases
I know this was a highly requested song, and the majority of comments confirm it.
In my opinion it is an acceptable song (5/6pts) on a good album (7pts), but it has highs and lows
The level of ABBA's songs is so good that for me they have many better songs
    (I have 50 with a minimum of 8pts)
and better albums too (Voulez Vous is seventh among the nine ABBA albums)
And I must clarify that the interpretation in the TV special in Switzerland is very good
ABBA uses the resource of a spoken or narrated introduction a lot and so well,
follow by a change of rhythm. Remember just a few:
Dance (while the music still goes on)
    Move on
    Thank you for the music
    Don't shut me down
(curiously with Agnetha in the most of all introductions)
and I like all these songs much more than
    "Kisses of Fire"
that is why my next suggestion could be:
"Thank you for the music" (1977)
also the official lyric video is so beautiful
P.S.: don't worry for the use of lyric videos, they are so great too
and in my opinion I prefer that you first react all ABBA official lyric videos
(all are included in ABBA Gold album and are worldwide hits)
than any other songs without official video, like Kisses of Fire
anyway, see you soon in next ABBA video
    my best regards from
    Buenos Aires, Argentina
    South America

You are correct about how we all can’t like the same things and have the same opinions of ABBA’s songs/albums. I personally love “Kisses Of Fire” more so because of how it’s a full blown sonic eruption of rhythm, melody and energy. And as an ABBA fan who tends to prefer the songs which feature more of Frida (Knowing Me, Knowing You, The Name of The Game, Super Trouper) I am blown away with the vocals of Agnetha on this track. But, as you mentioned in your comments we can’t all like the same things and when I saw the tracks you recommended if proved that point because I find those songs some of the ones I like the least, and particularly “Thank You For The Music” which I know is a beloved song with so many ABBA loyalists, but, has to be my least favorite of ABBA’s songs with maybe the exception of “King Kong Song” which is excruciatingly bad. But, that’s what’s amazing about being a die hard ABBA fan, they created such a variety of songs that it’s a testament to their talents that they can evoke such a variety of emotional responses from their enormously huge fan base.

Thank you very much for your answer, so respectful and valuable in dissent, I really appreciate when there is intellectual honesty and not fanaticism
The same thing happens to me, I'm more of a fan of Agnetha and her voice and way of interpreting, but when there are songs by her that I don't like so much I say it (eg "The day before you came")
And at the same time, when I have to recommend a song by Frida, I do it without a doubt, because what I want is the diffusion of all the music of ABBA, with Frida and with Agnetha (and with Björn and Benny obviously)
      kind regards

Here's Your ABBA Crash Course in pronouncing their most difficult Swedish names: Agnetha and Björn. Benny and Anni-Frid are easier to pronounce I think.
Agnetha sings using her Tongue = "Tongnetha" = Angnetha = Agnetha. OK?
Björn Earns money = BjEarns = Björn. OK?
ABBA is pronounced with the Stress on the last "A". Like this: abbA´. OK? Good Luck!
Yes, I'm Swedish - and I saw ABBA live 1975, just as their Rocket Career Took Off.
Also: Thank You for NOT adding Background Muzak behind Your Comments. Many "Reactors" do that - and It's just so totally Unnecessary and very Distracting.
