Hi there! So glad you like this song. Depeche and PSB? My #1 and 3 favorite bands of all time!! Thanks Alejandro...oh yes, much more Abba in the future of my channel! Best wishes from US to beautiful Chile!! Thanks for watching 😉
There is still the album "Chess" (1984) made by Bjorn & Benny in collaboration with lyricist Tim Rice. Sure, Agnetha & Anni-frid don't sing in it, but there are a lot of ABBA-like melodies in songs like... "One Night In Bangkok", "I Know Him So Well", "Pity the Child, "Nobody's Side" and "Anthem" for example. ✌
Well, after ABBA split up in 1982... (they still collaborated on each other projects from time to time) Bjorn & Benny mostly composed & produced musicals, movies and shows - Chess (1986), Kristina fran Duvemala (1995), Mamma Mia! (1999), Mamma Mia! The Movies 1 & 2 (2008 & 2018) and ABBA Voyage (2021). Benny still composes for his summer band (BAO) - mostly Swedish folk music. Bjorn also produces "Mamma Mia the Party" (2016) and "Pippi at the Circus" (2022). Frida recorded 3 albums & Agnetha 5 albums with varied degrees of success and mainly in Europe. The most notable things after ABBA were Frida's album "Something's Going On" (1982), the concept album "Chess" (1984), the musical "Mamma Mia!" (1999), Agnetha's album "A" (2013), and the ABBA Voyage concert (2021). ✌
I did this at karaoke a couple of weeks ago, and it went down a storm. I was asked by several people who originally recorded it, and they were all surprised that it was ABBA. This track is very probably their musical zenith

@retroreactions.... My dumbest claim to fame, a neighbour of mine who was a drunk, an architect and once a famous soccer player, asked me if I had a cell phone he could borrow to call his old mate Janne Schaffer (great guitarist who was a studio musician on most of ABBA's albums). Of course, he could! Because I saved the number, I later prank-called him like a ten-year-old would! Not my proudest moment, but then again I was only 30 at the time. 🤡
I loving seeing you vibing with these songs. I was moving my head vibing with you. Lol. This was a really good song, I never heard it. Thank you for sharing. Blessings my friend ♥️
Hello again! Thanks for being first here today!! 🥇 That's great to hear haha....oh, new for you as well, awesome! You're welcome and thanks so much for stopping by...have a beautiful rest of the week!! 💙
Great reaction with ALL four on backing vocals, Benny was in almost every song with the male backing. Yes the Cold War and dissidents from the Soviet Union was the inspiration for Bjorns lyrics from what I have heard.
If you like '80s dark synth-pop ABBA, you may enjoy other ABBA songs from that same period like "Soldiers", "Under Attack" and "The Day Before You Came". Even other songs like "I Let the Music Speak", "Head over Heels" and "Should I Laugh or Cry". ✌
Ive NEVER heard this song….,LOVE IT LOVE IT! Definitely world music vibe…. Especially in the intro. Mixture of North African and Celtic melodic lines with Europop beat. Cool. 😁👍
This song is about a woman having secret meetings in what was the USSR and she is being chased down by the KGB from what I’ve heard. This album was banned in the Soviet Union apparently because ABBA allowed the video for their song “When All Is Said And Done” to be shown in a TV special called “Let Poland Be Poland”. This personally is my favorite ABBA album. I always like when artists/bands go out of their comfort zones to try new sounds and feels and I think it worked for ABBA on this one. Even the B-Sides for the singles from this album are great. Even though this my personal favorite ABBA album, Eagle is my favorite ABBA song.
This song was never given the credit or airtime due when it came out here in the US. Although, it was a major hit later in the 80's for as much as 8 years in the nightclub scene! Patrons would come running to the dj booth asking who did this song and the dance floors where guaranteed to be packed every time it played! I personally believe that kept the song relatively fresh and it could be released again like they did with Kate Bush's "Running up that hill" or even modernized slightly and it would be a monster hit! I would Love t see that happen.
My Favourite ABBA track, back in 81 i think this track was too much of a move forward for some fans but it stands the test of time. I think when Bjorn wrote the lyrics it was about someone hiding from the Russian secret service. They open the Voyage concert with this track and it is mind blowing, can you imagine them rising up through the stage to this intro. Very emotional
Intro of this song reminds me mixture of Beatle's Tomorrow Never Knows and Vangelis Blade Runner. Great album - heavy synth driven. I look forward to react "The day Before You Came" 😉
I’m not sure if I’ve heard this song before?? I do know many of their big hits of course, but wasn’t that into them back in the day. I did enjoy this track though.
This was their last single in the U.S. for decades. It performed poorly because U.S. radio programmers decided Abba was no longer cool, so it did not get played. Granted, it was also considered pretty experimental for them, which did not help it's perceived commercial viability. However, it was big in the clubs. And over time it has become a fan favorite. Definitely in my Top 5 Abba songs.
Abba no longer cool? Dudes should have consulted a psychic haha.....Yes, I could see this all over the clubs at the time...Glad you love it too, thanks Joseph!

Fantastic song, and it's such a shame that Abba broke up after this album because in my opinion it was their best, and I would have loved to see what they could do after that. I'm a massive Chess fan too, and perhaps that wouldn't have happened if they'd stayed together so I guess we just have to be grateful for what we have. Pity the Child, from Chess, has one of the best guitar solos ever, by Lasse Wellander, a long-time Abba collaborator (who sadly passed away earlier this year).

@Retro Reactions - One of the best breakdowns I have ever heard, you broke down each overlay perfect and how it makes "The Vistors" an engineering marvel of the time. I have this as one of my top 10 Intros of the 80s, it never lets you drift, then lands you in a perfect disco/synth beat.
This song opens up their VOYAGE London gig. The lighting, the sound, the visuals and of course the ABBAtars are incredible. Everyone needs to see that show, hope it comes to Las Vegas. Great reaction.
Back in the day when you would buy an ABBA album and I believe this was the case with all of them or at least certainly the ones I bought the record inside the album cover was contained in a sleeve that had the lyrics to all the songs on them … So you could sing along with them
It is good to see you return to ABBA Brandon. I have always loved this song for the atmosphere and then the switch up. Benny and Bjorn are such great songwriters. I also like Frida's voice the best! I recommend this channel for any ABBA fans: www.youtube.com/@bobbysbrother137
Yes, much to explore for sure. These great bands could be on my channel for years with all their music! Thanks for sharing the link. That guy really knows his Abba!
After the visitors Björn and Benny went on to write the musical Chess with Tim Rice. You should check out that. It is definitely the musical with the best original score. I would say this was probably when Benny (mostly responsible for the music) was at his creative peak Most known are probably I know him so well, Anthem and One night in Bangkok. But there are many more Nobadys side, Heaven help my heart and Pity the child. And there are also a couple of longer more classical influenced songs with great melodies.
Very surprised to find ABBA on your channel. And then the gloomy but ingenious harbinger of the 80s sound, content about the Cold War (Reagan-Brechnew). On the album 1981 were two more same thematic songs Soldiers and Like An Angel Passing Through My Room. And today again the same conflict, where only the civilian population have to suffer. At that time dark clouds appeared also in their private life and after more than 10 years of hard work without even "taking a deep breath". The pre-programmed break/end??? Tip: The Name Of The Game - a completely different style of music.
Hello! Yes, this is my 4th Abba song reaction on my channel! I have a huge range of musical tastes. Thanks for watching and for the info. I do know The Name of the Game and many of their biggest songs, so it'll be great exploring their deeper catalog in the future!
Are you familiar with the singer Chris Rea? He had some great pop hits in the 70's/80's like "Fool (If You Think It’s Over)". But, he is one of those singers whose voice amazingly improved as he aged. His style became more sensual than pop and he makes his guitar weep with his slide guitar riffs. I'm not 100% sure, but I think his new style mostly evolved in the 90's. Some good titles to check out are "And You My Love", "Nothing to Fear", "Looking for Summer" and "The Blue Cafe"
@@terrykemp1876 Awesome! Both are great for sure. I really love Chris Rea's deep raspy voice and ABBA's harmonizing. I think both groups have very distinctive voices and sounds.
@@l-bird it's hard to find a dud track from either. Chris has been very much a blues artist and sadly, all but retired due to some serious and ongoing health issues.
This song is about dissidents of Sovjetunionen and their fait. Björn is a very political person, and remember that this was written during the cold war! So please forget about aliens.😂

One of the best Abba songs I think I've heard!
Well, I'm so glad to see you again return with more reactions to ABBA songs
"The visitors" (1981) gives me
complex and different sensations
ABBA was in a delicate personal stage,
since they began recording the album right after Benny and Frida's separation.
Björn and Benny were with their new partners,
and as composers they entered the stage of experimenting,
and with the project of writing a musical
That is why I think that the title of the song and the album is not accidental,
since in addition to being about the dissidents in the former USSR,
I think that they speak of themselves as "visitors" of what "was" ABBA originally
(in as for them as couples)
Even the cover is very graphic: the Four separated and isolated
(image that will be deepened in the official video of the future single
"The day before you came" in 1982)
the song itself is very good in its genre, it has a futuristic air
(it could go as a soundtrack in a "Star Wars" movie)
Frida does a great job in lead voice,
the chorus is good but different from ABBA's more traditional,
the use of synthesizers by Benny is majestic,
and Björn's lyrics are strong
I really like the song itself (8pts),
but on the album "The Visitors" I prefer other tracks,
the one I like most is the moving "Slipping through my fingers",
which was performed live on the TV special 'Dick Cavett meets ABBA'
(in case you want to see another side of ABBA)
I think that "The Visitors" was a single in a few countries like U S.
and is the opening track ot the homonymous album
It hasn't a video or TV perfomance,
but now in the Voyage Concerts that begin last May 2022 in London
is the fantastic opening concert
For a next reaction, my suggestion is to

I think that you will enjoy these

But there are many more Nobadys side, Heaven help my heart and Pity the child. And there are also a couple of longer more classical influenced songs with great melodies.
The Visitors' dance re-mix video they used scenes from the movie Alien.... A great video
The Last few Abba albums were the best for me. Play this one fairly regular ..
It doesn't surprise me that you like Abba. This version is cool. 80's vibes for sure!! ♥🎼🎶🎶
Yup...my favorites are Fernando and Voulez Vous...probably would love all their 80s songs, however many there are...
I like Money,Money,Money and Chicatita
I really don't know how to spell the second song
Yes, Chiquitita is beautiful too, and of course the epic The Winner Takes it All...too many great ones!
So many.......😁
Have you done "The Day Before You Came"? Not what you expect. An 80s band, Blancmange, did a fab cover and Agneta liked it so much she appeared in it!
Not yet, I just added your vote for it...
It's dark and haunting...I usually fast forward comments in the middle but your take was interesting
Thanks so much for watching and for hearing my thoughts on this one!
Good Indian touches.
Super 👍
You know, the name sounds a bit familiar, but I'm sure I don't know any of his songs...New artist for my list, thanks!!
ABBA and Chris Rea are my two favourite artists of all time.
@@terrykemp1876 That's too bad about his health. He's only in his early 70's, I think. And his voice only improved over time in my opinion.
This song is about dissidents of Sovjetunionen and their fait. Björn is a very political person, and remember that this was written during the cold war! So please forget about aliens.😂
It is their best song by far. 1981, by the iron curtian.
Maybe Name of the Game or Chiqi live at wembley can compare.
And ofc WTIA.
This is Aniridias voice. 🌈👍🇸🇪🫶🥰...
Thanks for watching!
👽.....🤭lol
Aliens always tryin to sneak into my channel 🤣🤣
LOL😆🤣🤣
One of the most untypical ABBA songs.
Yes! Thanks so much for watching!
Try "take a chance on me" and then compare it to Erasure's verion!
Oh I know both versions very well. Hard to pick a fave, but Erasure is in my top 10 bands of all time!
