Frida just owns this beautiful, majestic song. A departure from the 'typical Abba', but demonstrating their depth and maturity. This isn't a pop song. It's in a category all of its own❤ ❤❤
The Visitors was so experimental, and I love that album. I appreciate the beauty of this song and its ode to music and letting music guide you more and more each time I listen to it. And of course: Frida's vocals are so good!
Frida❤️ shows here much of the potential of her great voice... She had a lyrical training in her early days, and actually always had the ability to sing ANYTHING she wanted. The song is different, and this entire album is... The Visitors was, in fact, one of the first albums recorded in the new format: the CD. It also marks a new direction for the band. A new search. Great video, Ratty... Welcome back to 🅰️🅱️🅱️🅰️! Take care✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍
She was first noticed in grade school. Her teachers noticed her keen ear/perfect pitch, etc ... She then as she matured mastered diaphragmatic breathing. She has a unique sound, She is technically proficient and emotive. Her stellar reputation among peers rwas built on the stages. The real deal. She fits the definition of a professional vocalist.
A couple of yrs ago just after the release of Abba's last album "Voyage" Frida was interviewed on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show with Zoe Ball, at the end of the interview Zoe asked Frida which of the Abba song she liked the most and Frida chose this track. The interview is still on TH-cam if you wanted to take a listen. This Album was slated by the critics on its release (no surprise there as i think they slated most of their Albums) But over the years they have begun to realised that this is probably their best album 😮 Great reaction, i was lucky enough to see ABBA live in London at Wembley Arena in 1979🤯💥 great concert and brilliant to hear and see them live. 🇬🇧🧐
Frida’s voice and breathing control, vibrato and crystal clear vocals are just sublime. A beautiful song that I never tire of hearing, and that goes for that whole album. ❤
40 years later in 2022 they made a NEW ALBUM called VOYAGE ....same 4 musicians....and from the very beginning you still here the ABBA sound again......unique and timeless.....all songs of the new album are worth to react to......the members are all in the 70 s of age......
Yes it's the same band that made 'Watch Out","Honey,Honey","Eagle","Voulez Vous",'Chiquitita","Nina Pretty Balerina","The Visitors"etc. It's a mirror that reflects their multicolourful diverse skills.Respect.
As others have said. Benny and Bjorn were heading in the direction of Musicals. Some Pop style like Chess. Some more Operatic like Kristina från Duvemåla. Having a huge Pop group to experiment in was a blessing for them and us. This song was like a "show" in 3 acts. All of them great. Thanks for your videos. They are always thought provoking.
For Björn and Benny it was no longer creatively challenging to go on working within the ABBA concept. One track on The Visitors underlined their ambitions for the future: ’I Let The Music Speak’, with vocals by Frida, was structured very much like a theatrical number. Björn and Benny had long been thinking about writing a full-length musical, and during 1981 those thoughts were closer to being realized than ever before. The Visitors was released on November 30, 1981 and just two weeks later, Andersson and Ulvaeus had a meeting in Stockholm with lyricist Tim Rice - famous for his work with Andrew Lloyd Webber - discussing a potential collaboration. These initial talks eventually resulted in the musical Chess. ”If ABBA hadn’t recorded ’I Let The Music Speak’, I guess we would have used it in Chess,” Björn reflected later. I love that they decided to use this on The Visitors album and allowed us to hear Frida`s leading vocals with Agnetha joining her in the backing vocals. One of my favorite songs by anyone.
Theatrical ABBA is great stuff. You should check out Anthem by Tommy Körberg, from Björn and Benny's Chess musical. In a perfect world, Agnetha and Frida would've been involved with Chess as well
This song is for adults and the more musically and analytical minded. For many younger and less analytical minded people, they require music that has some sugar pored in their ear. The masses want sugar. The top pop charts have the sugar. The classical, jazz, vocal centric genre's don't have the sugar, attracts the more analytical minded.
It probably contradicts most of the opinions, but I will respectfully express my feelings. And I am going to repeat myself in something that I said for another previous song "I let the music speak" It also leaves me with mixed feelings And first of all I want to make it clear that Frida's vocal performance as the main voice is outstanding, and the choirs are very well elaborated. But the song itself, although it's very good, doesn't end up closing me like others It's like there are parts that I like and others that I don't. And that's why I have it in the block of the three that I like the least on the album (and what I think is 7pts) Perhaps two comparisons come to mind: One with the 'mini musical' included in "The Album" which for me is incredible and fascinating in its three songs And I like this song, but it doesn't fascinate me And the other with "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen which also seems to me superior and more cohesive It is clear that at this point Björn and Benny were with the advanced idea of making a musical, and not with their partners Frida and Agnetha And this is a preview of what would come in his future creations outside of ABBA. perhaps the error is mine to resemble "I let the music speak" to both ABBA's mini musical and Queen's smash hit I am also talking about a very good song, where I think the vocals surpass the music But in the high catalog of ABBA it does not enter my Top25 as always, I enjoy your reactions My best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America
Good stuff but not what you would take with you on a road trip……unless you were having trouble getting to sleep. Dude, get back to some of their upbeat and inspirational stuff. For the ultimate WTF moment check out King Kong Song. For toe tapping ear worm extravaganzas check out As Good As New, On and On and On, or When I Kisses the Teacher. If you want pure exuberance and perpetual propulsion check out my all time favorite song, Hole in Your Soul (studio version)

Benny and Bjorn are clearly on their way to writing musicals by this time.
🫵😎
Great reaction. Frida's vocal sublime!
THE Gods and Pop Royalty without question. ABBA are simply sublime. NOBODY comes anywhere near them ❤
MASTERPIECE ❤❤❤

Frida slaying these vocals with Agnetha joining in to give that ABBA sound. The musicals were imminent for Benny and Bjorn.
By this time, Benny and Bjorn were writing what they wanted to listen to, not what they thought would be a hit. Frida slays.
Great analysis Ratty. So dramatic and such intricate layers. Such a great evolution of ABBA's sound.
Stunning!

The most beautiful song from Abba 🎶 Frida's voice gave dark song color
They wrote the musical Chess. Two song from it, "I know him so well" and "One night in Bangkok" are the hits from it... Pure pop

This sounds like it should’ve been part of a Broadway musical or a movie.
I really love this song
You have to do, The day before you came.
Agree 100%. Fantastic song that never gets old.
This song is really an early demo of their musical Chess that came around 3 years later.
2.59;- Circus? Don't you mean a night at the opera/theatre? Either way this song is an absolute masterpiece and my favourite ABBA song ever.
Just love your Abba reactions. So balanced and appreciative of a band that I was blown away by as a child. Keep ‘em coming sir! ❤
Thank you :)
Cracking song from a mature Abba.x

Funny when you mentioned you felt like being at a circus, i just thought how the Cirque Du Soleil shows convey exactly the same vibes as this song.
@@j.k.1963 I thought of Cirque de Soleil also! It’s more multi-layered and unexpected, like this song.
great reaction as always!
Some live stuff from their exciting, monumental filmed 1977 tour would be welcomed too.
Get on the Carousel !!! Brilliant!!
@@nogisweb🤩Explosive performance.NDAI!,,,(if u get this).
A gorgeous song!

Thank you, Ratty! 🎼🗣🎪
En mycket vacker sång🎶🎶🎶❣️👏
Questa canzone, per me è la più "gotica","stregonesca",e teatrale degli Abba, una delle mie preferite su tutto il"mio"panorama musicale.❤️💙💙❤️
Nice one brother 👍👏
Thank you!

Great reaction to a great song ❤
