Jeremy Strong portrays mental breakdowns, gradual or sudden, wonderfully in this show.
What's really weird is that in the after show interviews, he acts and sounds like Kendall.
@@John_Locke_108he's almost method acting and didn't want to be out of the character for the duration of the show.
@@kvm6 That was the vibe I got. Wasn't sure if I was imagining it.
@@John_Locke_108idk i feel like he just uses his natural cadence for Kendall, personality wise they seem quite different to me
There’s a thing he does with his eyebrows when he portrays being sad that’s really incredible. He’s great at the sad puppy face!
3:36 - Apparently the script just said, "Tom destroys Greg's office. That GLORIOUS scene is how Matthew Macfadyen did it.
Both the kiss in the mail room and the "prove it" were improv by the actors, and it made the dynamic between Tom and Greg a lot more.. interesting 😂
Jeremy Strong as Kendall might genuinely be one of the greatest performances of all time
This season is what skyrocketed Matthew MacFadyen to that well deserved Emmy he won that year. Tom Wamsgans is one of the greatest characters ever written
The structure that Kendall looks down on at the end is actually The Vessel in New York. Its been closed following 4 unaliving events.. Made the end way darker when I realized
What the heck is an unaliving event?
@@John_Locke_108suicide.
@@John_Locke_108I'm guessing its a workaround for automods or filters. Suicide, the are referencing Suicide.
@@John_Locke_108how can you not get what that means?
23:13 naomi has her issues and isn’t good for Ken in some ways but I appreciate they make her a complicated character who is also good for Ken at times
i always think about Tom giving Logan a watch in the pilot when Kendall gets that watch...
Yeees and honestly probably why he acted like that
You guys need to watch If succession was a rom com with Tom and Greg. It's so good
and Kendall’s the third one😂😂
Is it a small detail in this episode, when they announce "just the number" Logan holds Tom's hand and says he'll remember that or something?
Also, Tom is so upset because who got literally nothing from his wife, at all, just nothing, Shiv was like "cool great nobody going to jail, congrats".
I love a Succession party episode (Prague, this one)! Also, I've read that the "prove it" line and the forehead kiss were both improvised. Amazing stuff.
For kendall as a character, this was one of my favorite episodes in the series as a whole. He ran the spectrum emotionally
I unironically LOVE this episode.
The Succession OST has the full Kendal Roy cover of the song, if you want to listen to. I think Kenny has been nominated for the Grammy too irl!
Edit - Tom loves Greg. Greg doesn't.
Tom and Greg are truly the great romance of this show lol
Forhead kiss was improvised by matthew macfadyen 😂😂
Matthew macfadyen as tom wambsgans is the king of comedy and subtle drama
Small thing, but it sounds like Roman and Logan made the buyout offer together for Ken, rather than Roman peeking into the envelope.
This was by far the hardest Succession episode I have ever watched.
Thus far you mean? We're not even at Season 4 yet.
@@John_Locke_108 I've already watched the whole series. I'm here for a rewratch.
@@buhlenzimande9303 Just shocked this is harder to watch than most of Season 4.
@@John_Locke_108 Season 4 was an intense roller-coaster of emotions, that's for sure. It shook me and gave me intense goosebumps more than once. It was just difficult watching Kendall's downward spiral in this episode. That's what I mean by the hardest episode to watch
@@buhlenzimande9303 Gotcha.
"The Waystar Two are free" lmao I can't with Tom.
10:30 Greg's attempt at flirting and being charming was so cringey 😅😂
This is gonna be sick. I’m a nerd ik but this a true Spiritual low for every character. This episode is great but terrible, as my man Greg put it in one of the previous parties “this is nightmarish”
Also Jeremy Strong has said that Kendall really wanted to say "I wish I was dead" which is awful and sad.
That's what it felt like he was going to say but stopped himself
This one is a banger…and the soundtrack has several bangers
All bangers, all the time.
That's very kiiiind of you, you're an even handed maaiiiden
Shiv hates tom so much that she is unhappy that he got free from prison. It's just heartbrraking to know that your wife wants you to be in prison 😢
22:54 I’m glad y’all mentioned how bad of a gift the watch was because my mind/heart immediately goes to the person who gave the bad gift & their feelings.
Maybe it’s because I’m good at thoughtful gift giving & a people pleaser but my mind immediately assumes I don’t have a right to be bothered by a bad gift. It kinda does show a lot tho
Rome is a sore winner, 0 dignity or tact in victory
Boys emulate their Father. He's acting the way his father would.
Yeah Roman learned from the best, Kendall has shit to say in that regard.
your reactions to the cross lmao
Kendell always crashes after a win.
this is the episode that convinced me that the happiest possible ending for kendall is him getting sent to a psych ward indefinitely
All bangers all the time
Tom and Greg seem to have a great relationship, but like with all the other relationships in the show, it is a transactional relationship within this narcissistic empire led by Logan. At the End, Greg is to Tom, what he himself is to Shiv; the supply for their grandiose narcissistic trips. Or in other words, his punching bag
Wow you guys are getting through this series quick. You got what like a season and a half left?
actually they're on 4x3 so they're nearly finished
Ken says Roman is not real. He's arguably the most real out of all.
Of course because Kendall has zero clue what a real person looks like because he thinks he's the most real person in the world. So sad and tragic.
Ken thinks he's the most real because he's the one fighting in the mud for a knife against his dad, Shiv thinks she's the most real because she's worked independently in politics and considers society a bit more (everyone in her job has connections), Roman thinks he's the most real because he is able to use his trauma to connect with other broken people.
Roman being called not real really fits him though , his whole being revolves around his dad’s love and approval, in a way he really isn’t a real person like all of his siblings tried in one way or another to be their own person but up to this episode roman never tried ,he can’t form relationships or have his own opinion and he’s just everything his dad needs .
I feel like Ken would have been happy with the watch if it was at least engraved or something but it was just so impersonal.
S-tier episode.
This episode is so cringe and I usually hate cringe. I usually fast forward through cringey or embarrassing moments in movies and TV shows or just look away but in this episode and Succession in general I just can't look away. This might be my favourite episode of the season, it's so crazy and messed up and sad and scary and cringey and somehow I absolutely love it.
Lord, this is the worst episode for me. Not that it’s poorly written or acted, it’s just absolutely sad and grim and brutal. Tough watch!
The thing that shocked me most was that Kendall is only 40. And he's the second oldest. No wonder Rogan doesn't want them to run the company. They are still children. Roman is in his 30's and expects to run a billion dollar company? Are you out of your vulken mind??
Ah yes no one but boomers should run the world and companies with their backwards thinking.
Never heard a 40 year old be considered a child. 💀 But anyone's a child compared to Logan's old geezer ass on deaths door
It's established as soon as Logan hands Roman the envelope that Roman knows what it is and is part of it. What are you guys talking about???
