The Shiv-Tom relationship is the modern day arranged marriage with the gender power dynamic reversed. Tom wanted Shiv because she was rich and well connected and he forced himself to love her since he really didn’t have a way out that resulted in him keeping the wealth and power she provides him. Shiv after seeing the way her mother was treated and the way her father still treats her wants a submissive partner who’s dependent on her. That way in her mind she never has to worry about being betrayed or that person taking away love and attention.

The conversation between Ken and Logan is some of THE best pure, subtle acting I've ever seen in my life. The way Jeremy Strong can control his broken voice and state is a masterclass of acting along with Brian Cox's subtle yet earth shattering evil and narcissism. It's such a complicated relationship of a father and son and the writing of it all is so damn good
And I'll say once and I'll say it again...Shiv Roy would make me fold in a heartbeat with her recent outfits

I do think shiv loves tom, in her own way. I don’t think she can ever love someone in a way most people do, because She will never let herself be vulnerable enough for that. I disagree that tom would inniciate divorce between them though, he would never. He loves her but he merried her for her last name first, love second. I think that’s the main reason why shiv will never have that volnurability with tom ever, because she knows that too, and she is the type of person who wouldn’t believe she was loved just for her sunny personality (she’s right).
