Thank you for the comparison, Tom, and also for taking the time to show us.

Tom,. thanks for your nice compact radio comparison. If I had to choose, as radio lover :;)) I will choose PL330 due to its better reception and sensitivity,. plus SSB,.. But, like you, I appeciate so much the landscape display of 757, their good speaker, Air Band and a lot of more functions. In short, is a really pity 757 doesn`t have the good reception (the important thing!) than PL330 has. So, If I had to choose one, only one!, I would go with the 330, much to my regret. No perfect radio was done, as far as I know...📻🙋

I bought the Raddy a couple of weeks ago now. Things I like about it... It has a replaceable 18650 battery which I upgraded to a higher capacity one. A nice display like you mentioned. Backlit keyboard which is helpful. Cons with this radio... No squelch on the 2 meter (VHF) ham band which is very annoying. Bluetooth appears to be for connecting to the phone app only. I'm unable to connect a pair of Bluetooth headphones to it which is a real bummer.
Anyway, I bought it for my go bag and it stays in that. Right now, I'm running an ATS25 Max Decoder II as my primary home unit that sits on my nightstand. I enjoy tuning around to different things using that.

So yes, I was screaming at the screen, "press the EN key" for direct frequency ENtry. I have the HanRongDa HRD-757 branded version with the green screen that I like better. I went on a trip recently and had to decide which radio to take, two possibilities being the 757 and the PL-330. I took the PL-330 for a few reasons, the first being the memory system that is far superior on the PL-330. The second is that it takes over 13 minutes to do a band scan on the 757. Another reason that you discovered is that there are birdies on the shortwave band, and if used in a metropolitan area, local broadcast stations bleed onto shortwave. I like the 757 display too, but I find it inexcusable that in all that screen real estate, there is no place for a clock when the radio is on. In my testing the PL-330 was more sensitive than the 757. And yes the 757 has lots of features, but you can get about the same feature set for less money with a LiJiANi Rd239. Bandwidth is too wide on the 757, with no setting to change it. MW performance is abysmal; the PL-330 gets 3 times as many stations. And the 757 manual is among the worst -- simply awful. And the 757 doesn't get LW. One couldn't see it in your video, but the 757 keys are backlit. However, if you want a utility radio for SW band scans, I recommend the Qodosen DX-286 -- it is not only the fastest, but remarkably good at catching weak stations and eliminating the garbage.

If I could catch the Raddy on sale for $50 I might be a buyer. It has some cool features, but some are gimmicky. I do like the Raddy cell phone app control. The Tecsun PL-330 is one of the best small radios out there especially for the price and If SSB is at the top of your wish list.

Hit the enter button before entering the frequency buttons. I have the Hanrongda HRD 757 version with the green background light. it works great on sw and uhf and vhf. AM on the other hand seems to be lack lusture. I do gett the local stations fine. Still a fun ratio. The Tecson radio seems a little better at reception. I have the pl660. Anyway thanks for sharing. Take care as always. Cheers.😊

Tom if your Raddy 757 tunes like my Raddy RF919 to direct tune you must first his the enter “EN” button followed by the numbers of the frequency you desire then hit EN button again.

Hey Tom, good follow up video! 🙂 Tecsun's ATS only sweeps the broadcast bands because their marketing people assumes that those are that really matters for the average SW listener. This makes sense because if it included the amateur ham and utility bands, the listener is forced to go through stored stations that are meaningless to them. Not only that, it is going to be a frustrating experience having to delete lots of channels that are not normal broadcast stations.
Furthermore the PL-330 scans frequencies in Amplitude Modulation mode, not SSB. The ATS and ETM+ systems look for the carrier signal which is either present or otherwise and memorizes frequencies which it assumes to be a legitimate broadcast station i.e., not a utility station like WWV/WWVH. The Raddy RF-757 on the other hand, behaves like a scanner and goes through the shortwave spectrum and I assume it includes the utility and amateur bands. That's why it takes a long time to complete its automatic band scan.
The PL-330 on the hand, has a few tricks up its sleeve. You can change the ATS scanning properties so that it responds to more signals at the expense of registering static as valid broadcast stations or make it scan faster but pick up fewer fainter stations. I know my PL-320 has these hidden features and I'm sure the PL-330 also has them. You can also force the PL-330 to be less selective during an ATS or ETM+ scan by merely changing the bandwidth filter to the narrowest one and it will take a slightly longer time to complete its scan.
Putting the RF-757 beside your PL-330 (or any other radio of the same class/price point) makes it easier for your viewers to put the Raddy into perspective. I'm sure of all the people who are subbed to your channel or were watching your previous demo of the RF-757, more of them own, or at least are more familiar with the Tecsun PL-330 than the new S-2200x. I know how you are excited about this S-2000 replacement and I will take your word for it that the S-2200x is your "best radio" at this time, but when people see two receivers side by side the first thing that comes to their mind is - it's a comparison test. 🙂
I don't know if you've already done video comparing the S-2200x with another radio, but if you're planning to do one - I think most of us would like to see how it goes against your Eton Satelit 750 or better still, your "Big Bertha". 📻👍

Plus ham, marine and utility stations come on and off, making automated band scans next to useless.

If I had a way to send it to you, I could provide a review Qodosen DX-286. That's the real champ on band scanning, with 3 sensitivity settings. It scans faster than the PL-330 and catches weaker signals.
