@todderbert, Big question! What time was it when you had demoed the Shortwave bands?? Since you are very near to the mid parts of the states, that can be adventitious for shortwave reception and so if you have an exacting time of day that you had setup for the shortwave portion, I would surely like to know! It is also most helpful that you either put inside of your show notes if not also in your audio recording time of your stream that would be great too! By doing so, this could potentially broaden the interests of your video following experience and quite possibly more people just might be buying more of these radios too! That last video that you had put up didn't show off the shortwave receiving aspects and to be sure, I felt like that we were being cheated out of a good run of just how well if not how poorly a radio can perform as well! This was on the Eton FR-250 that was posted on the 14th of October I believe!

This radio is intriguing. Looks like something sold at Kmart in the 70’s, but packed with features. I don’t need it, but I could sure see owning one. Excellent video. 😊
HejTodderbert thanks for the review of the Raddy RF-757 it's a nice radio, and I've been considering buying it, but maybe it would be best to wait for an upgraded version. Also, there are a few things that should be fixed, like the headphone jack you mentioned in the video, and things like the lack of bandwidth filters. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty nice radio. I own the Qodosen DX-286, and it's a radio that I love. It's a real performer on all bands. And Todderbert, wow! I am very happy with the Prunus J-167 FM/AM/SW radio that just arrived. I have upgraded the built-in battery to a Nitecore NL1410 1000mAh Rechargeable 14500 Battery. There will be a lot of radio time for me now. A rain storm is coming; it will rain for a week. Take care and have a nice night in Chicago.
This little radio has an admirable sound! Clean and detailed. The radio transmits the entire width of the audio band. Smooth highs, precise mids and pleasant bass. I own a collection of 30 portable digital radios, but none have such excellent sound!
Hi Todderbert. I have the Hanrongda HRD 757. I like the green light background on those ones. The am on mine is the same on the gain controller. Hopefully they will do a firmware update for that. Other then those flaws, it is a really cool radio. Thanks for sharing. Take care as always. 😊
YES - it's high time that we had more choices in a pocket-sized DTV set like we had in the analog days. ALSO - it's time we had radios able to tune in DTV audio.
Raddy make some nice gadgets, a feature that stands out is the audio quality, it's very good. I have the little RF-750 & take it when out fishing, brilliant little radio. Good review, thanks.
I like this multi-band radio mainly for the remote control app. It looks like the Android app is not available on the Play Store and is only available via some sketchy website as an APK download that you need to sideload onto your phone. Too many security issues for me. If they ever publish a legit app on the Play Store then I would consider a purchase. Thanks Todderbert for another super review video. 👍
I really can't say this is priced too high - we have here a genuine wideband receiver in a very compact size. My main requests are for more sensitivity on MW, and ability to record Bluetooth audio. The very gradual AGC happens on other radios as well, and I see no good reason to have it. This radio is way up on my want list thanks to your review. A lot happening in such a small package!
There is a PDF download of the manual ( I just downloaded it.) In a quick look at it, it seems that the SD (TF) card player has a random (shuffle) function! Most radios that can play from cards lack this VITAL function. Along with the rest of the specs and the price, I will certainly get one! This seems like the ultimate radio to take to work with me!
Thanks! Hey, people - come on and remember to hit the Thanks button every now and then - Todderbert's reviews are the best thing going today on You Tube!
I've watched a bunch of your reviews. I don't know what you do with all these radios after you review them... but what I would like to see is a teardown of some of these radios along with technical information of the chips that are in these radios - mostly all are radios on a chip. I have the Raddy RF760 and looking at the display on the Raddy RF757 it looks to use the same chip as the RF760. So, as far as significant difference between the performance of the 760 and 757 it would probably be the same allowing for differences in ferrite antenna for MW reception and other details. How many of these radios are just, at base, a SI4735 chip or variant? If so, how different can they be in performance? A teardown would disclose the real differences in these radios showing the chip, build quality, engineering, and so on. Just a suggestion...
It is good, but a handheld scanner may be better. I was getting faint signals with no issues on the 757, but the squelch isn't great. No adjustable threshold, and a gain control that is slow acting when in use.
The design looks a bit like a Sony. I miss SSB and I don't like the "pumping" while switching the frequency. My Xhdata D808 does the same but it has ssb for an equal price.
AM has a slow acting AGC, and is rather quiet. You can try a passive loop to help boost the gain. You have to use the EQ as a ad-hoc filter section, since it doesn't have any user select-able bandwidth options yet. I'm pushing them to implement it for MW, and Shortwave.
I went through the link provided and it said $84 after an 11% discount. Question... Can you power on the radio from the phone app by chance? [Edit: Interesting... The price changed to $69 once I signed into my account. So, that may be the issue for others as well.]
while recording, does it allow you to change frequencies during so? maybe via app if the tuning knob/button doesn't register? if yes then it'd totally change the game for stuff such as those fm bandscan videos or dx catches! no need for an external sound recorder :D
I always enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work. However, I would like to know things like, can I use the numeric keys to select from thousands of track numbers using the MP3 player?
Depends, UHF is nice. Direct Recording on the Radio, and a Numeric Keypad makes things easier. I have both, and use them differently. One for BT, the other for SW. Though I could switch that around, but the audio on the 320 is strong :)
SSB is not required to get emergency broadcasts with this radio. SSB is wonderful if you want to listen to HAMs who mainly talk about antenna size, and power outputs. There are some informative nets, but I rarely tune in SSB. I enjoy HAMs who use a Full AM transceiver. Less range, more power, but any SW radio can pick them up if near enough.
Agreed. SSB is very useful. Not only for SSB signals, but also for helping with adjacent frequency interference on AM. I've used it many times that way.
@@joewoodchuck3824 I have more luck just tuning back a little, and narrowing the BW(this radio needs it on MW). Passive loops can really make a difference as well.
Is there some way to switch the MW band to 10KHz steps for North America since there aren't any stations here on weird frequencies like 647Khz and I don't see any option for FM 1-4!
While the Time is displayed, with the radio off. Press and hold the Sub Band Button until you see FM and a flashing number. Change the number with the browse arrow buttons. You want 870.0, once selected it will auto save after a few seconds. Turn the radio on, and have fun tuning in 10kHz on MW.
I'll be there will be a similar radio released next year with SSB. Everyone wants it. The price climbs a bit because of the extra circuit. They will definitely need to add some BW options then.
Amazing how those folks east of the Rockies can get SW so well. I have much better antennas that the plain wire he has that came with the radio and I get next to nothing except hams here in Utah. Very few broadcast stations and when I do get a station, it's too weak to be readable. This is why I have to have SSB, otherwise I'd never hear much. Too bad, hams are a bit boring sometimes, talking about tuning their 40 meter antennas and such. Oh well!!
No SSB on the 757, Audio is much better on the 757. Battery Capacity is better on the 757, and it records. Reception is similar, the 757 may have an edge in this regard.

The clean design of the RF757 far outstrips the Elementary school SciFy, can't take it seriously, design on the RF320.
