It just occurred to me that if any Replika is behind the one bathroom stall and hasn't been corrupted yet. It just might be an Ara unit. As for if she gets corrupted later, I have no idea.
I posted this elsewhere but I want to share it here as well We know of two entities who were dreaming in the game: Ariane and Falke. Ariane might not be "alive" at this point, and we never know exactly how strong is Ariane's bioresonance power. Maybe she only has a little bit of bioresonance. Falke on the other hand, the commander of Sierpinski, is strongest known bioresonanator on Leng, who have a lot of classified information in her head in the first place. SO here is my theory: We are not playing as Elster at all. When people say "No Elster was ever deployed at Sierpinski", they are speaking the truth. Elster was never there and cannot physically be there. We are Falke. Or rather, we are Falke who embodied a character of Elster in her own dream. This whole situation was the result of Falke's dream leaking into reality. Falke went out into the snow and found what's left of Penrose-512. The bioresonance residue from Ariane influenced Falke just like how Kolibris can mentally drag each other down. Falke went back and got "sick". She got trapped in her own recurring dreams of Ariane and Elster. She knows what Ariane wants, and tried to end the dream by fulfilling the promise. So she created Elster as her avatar in the dream. Adler who is closest to Falke, got corrupted by Falke first. He started to share a dream with Falke, and ran into Elster in his dream. This is how Kolibrie saw an Elster in his memory. This is also how Adler remembered his Gestalt past, by influence of Falke. Adler tried to resist the corruption by killing Elster in his dream over and over, hence the elevator shaft. Unfortunately Falke's dream only went deeper, and with each recurring dream, her creation of Elster gets stronger, more independent, and more real. To the point her psyche effectively split and "Falke ended and Elster began". When we the player started the game, it was the last straw. The dream fully merged with reality, and we the dream character of Elster took on physical form, or rather is finally visible by all other survivors at Sierpinski, not just Adler. And not just us, other dream characters also came out, like Isa Ito. By the time of fake ending, Adler realized who Elster really is. Which is why in that scene at the threshold, Elster replaced Falke's position. When Elster walked through the threshold, Adler lost all hope, knowing his beloved Falke have "changed", changed into Elster. Hence his "I hate everything" statement. This is also why, in the fake ending, in the scene where a line of several Elsters turn their heads, the first in the line is Falke; When a line of Ariane, Ito, and Alina turn their heads, the first in the line is also Falke. Falke is the host of this dream, and these are all effectively her dream characters. And you know the saying about meeting yourself in a dream is a sign of inner conflict? By the end of the game the Falke who became Elster run into Falke herself, or "return" to herself. The "we are incomplete, let us become whole again" is a very literal statement.
Falke found something... in the mines... She states that she was infected... She was an amplifier. Bioresonance is the key... That would imply that elster and arianne landed in a habitable planet, or at least one where they could have sought help, but they didnt. The connection for Arianne and Sierpinski is the fact that she would have gone there if she hadn't entered the penrose program. Another thing that supports this is the fact that the outside of the penrose-512 can change, in the "bad ending" where elster doesnt fulfill the promise and walks away, when she exits the penrose, instead of being in the snow field she is in Vinneta, the water planet. I do not know where they are supossed to be but they're not physically in Sierpinski, the way you access the base is through a very strange fleshy hole down some stairs (beginning of the game) (who tf would desing an entrance that way) and even going through the hole originally lands you in Arianne's room. To me it makes no sense, and it's Arianne's unconscious mind trying map out a "logical" path from the penrose to the "shithole" that is Sierpinski. And I say shithole cause it's basically a gulag and her life there would have sucked.
Abit of a correction... There was an LSTR unit deployed at Sierpinski, but in the following loops. Falke never gets to order one to join the mining team because she begins to fall ill and into a comatose state after her encounter with the red eye (implied to be Ariane's unconscious mind), hence the entirety of Sierpinski save for ADLR thinking there never has been an LSTR unit deployed there. But throughout all the loops, a select few are beginning to 'think' like ADLR; the scared EULR who mentions you look familiar because shes seen you before in prior loops. The ARAR who clearly remembers you because she's the most 'out of touch' when it comes to the world around her (the infection, the fall of Sierpinski, Falke falling into a coma). If given enough time and assuming they live long enough to maintain their sense of self by staving off the Bioresonance infection, more of the Sierpinski staff could begin to break free of the loops like ADLR has...or at least, try to since they can only do so much as what are essentially unwitting side actors in the overarching play that is getting a revived Elster to fulfill her promise to a suffering Ariane
Yeah the various notes leading up to the Falke fight read as much... Elster and Falke are intertwined. Probably in more ways than one. If Elster isn't just a figment of Falke's mind made physical through bioresonance and resurrected from Ariane's memory, then they're likely based from the same engram...! There are many things that imply that LSTR and FALK units are created from the very same neural pattern. This would also explain the return of Elster's original Gestalt, since those memories are also returning for Falke... As for Nowhere and Rotfront, I do believe those are real places created by the shared dream of Ariana, Falke and Elster. Mines and tunnels corrupted by Bioresonance into complex and metaphorical living places where physics stop functioning correctly...
A nice and concise explanation, I just hope that maybe one day rose engine will explore more of this universe that they created in signalis, or at least create more master pieces like this game.
I wonder if the Eusan Nation AKA Space East Germany had any idea what's happening on Sierpinski or if they figured out that it had fallen. One wonders if they would had planned to sent a large Replika taskforce to retake it or if they would "nuke it from orbit, just to be sure". I assume their first assumption would just be "Oh shit the Empire just hit Leng."
I hope they go Blame1 route and do a highschool spin off Yes. There is a Blame! Series set in highschool. It is body horror comedy and I love it. It also has all the tropes you expect.
I have 2 questions 1. Is penrose still Drifting in space and all of this is in Ariane head with her powers influencing Elster or did they actually crash land near a facility and Ariane’s powers are affecting everyones psyche there? I initially thought those people were just memories and it was all in her head 2. Is Falke actually real or is she some distorted version of Ariane?
@@Cristiferbeast I appreciate the response and yea, I like that u are being honest with ur answers and not pretending to have all the facts. It’s nice to see a objective look at this game’s story
Some evidence may suggest that the Penrose was salvaged in some form as the original Elster neural pattern was lost and it was replaced by the Elster on the ship with Ariane which resulted in all subsequent Elster units being compromised. How they managed to obtain the neural pattern of the Elster on the Penrose and why that specific Elster, I have no answer for that.
How was there never a LSTR unit originally at the facility when we see the original team of excavators on a document contain LSTR in them? We also know that on the death screen when in the mine it specifies that you are LSTR unit 300-something (can’t remember) when we know the OG unit is 512?
1. This video was released before update 1.2 when that document was released which changed the lore slightly 2. That death screen changed (i think in) 1.1 which was after this video. The presence/lack of a LSTR doesnt change very much about the general progression, only changing what that specific LSTR unit does and when they arrive and discussion on that required an entire other video. th-cam.com/video/dsHFfcw-kWw/w-d-xo.html
After looking up theories and watching a bunch of your videos I have some remaining questions about the game 1. Does Elster remember any of her past lives? Especially since during the game I believe we play at least 3 Elster’s and I don’t think she remembers most of them (aka the elevator bodies) but does she start to remember more and more the game goes on? I wonder if she might 2. Where are all the elsters coming from? Every time she dies is a new one made and put out, who/what is making them. I would think that they were all her that was reset but seeing all the bodies we know that’s not the case and they built a new one? These are just some of my thoughts
So i won't ever claim to have answers when i dont have them, so my responses here are more so theories based off my understanding and aren't as fleshed out as my theories/lore in my usual videos (thus why i havent made a vid on these topics yet) 1-Elster likely does not remember her past lives until the reclamation of Gestalt Memories, a process which we see at the End of the Fakeout Memory. However there is never any signs that she remembers the lives of the other versions of herself within S-23 2-The answer for this varies in the theory sphere, some believe various Elsters arrive to Leng however this would have some logistical issues. Others believe Ariane creates new Elsters with Bioresonance. Others believe the way the cycle works is that distortions from one cycle carry over to the next, however the entrance to the cycle is located beyond the gate so by Elster entering the Cycle each time she is recreating herself. Others believe that the death of space and time means that convergent 5th dimensional elsters are arriving...bottom line i and the theorists i hang out with all don't have a unified opinion as of this moment.
In regard to part 2, my theory is that Ariane is amplifying her bioresonance through Falke to create a psychic beacon. This is in order to attract Elster units to the site and attempt to get them to carry out the promise
I think it's highly highly implied that all of the Elster units in the game are the same "instance", being looped over and over (be it through space/time distortion, bio resonance, multiverse shit, or what have you), and not just other, separate Elster units being physically produced. These aren't clones, nor other units of the same make, they are you. The memories being repeated/revisited in the game aren't memories of the human that Elsters brain was modeled on, they're memories of the specific Elster unit accompanying Arianne on the pioneer ship (the Penrose). Moreover, all other Elster units are modeled after a different brain than yours is, because you're an older model whose brain imprint was lost when a gestalt archive was bombed. No more can be made. And only your models imprinted past human has the historical/mental connection to the other main characters (like serving in the military w/ the Ito sisters mom, if I'm remembering that correctly) Plus, it's far more fitting to the tone, setting, and symbolism of the game to be experiencing a metaphysical loop instead of a hardware one.
